“… $1 billion a year to provide health care to immigrants living in the state illegally under a proposal.

The proposal, announced on Wednesday by Democratic lawmakers, would eliminate legal residency requirements in California’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal, as the state has already done for young people up to age 19.”

CSS December 16, 2017 at 11:04 AM

It’s time CA residents rise up and say enough is enough. I for one can’t wait to get the heck out of this cesspool of a state. Keep creating incentives for people to stay indigent and getting handouts from the government and nothing will improve. Try motivating and incentivizing people to improve instead of perpetuating the status quo.

LocaI December 22, 2017 at 6:17 PM

The beginning of the first sentence from the original article:

“California, flush with cash from an expanding economy, would eventually spend . . . ”

Further down:

“Assembly Democrats also want to expand a tax credit for the working poor, boost preschool and child care, and increase college scholarships to reduce reliance on student loans.”

“They also would commit $3.2 billion more than required to state budget reserves.”

Putting that extra money in reserves is Democrats being fiscally responsible.

Venice December 15, 2017 at 7:48 PM

Bill O’Reilly claimed vindication Friday after a report from The Hill that attorney Lisa Bloom had solicited wealthy donors and tabloid media to pay women who agreed to come forward to accuse Donald Trump of sexual misconduct.

“The lawyer who attacked me with phony charges, Lisa Bloom, now exposed for arranging payments to women,” said Bill O’Reilly. “I told you guys from the very beginning that many allegations were false and politically driven. There is big money behind trying to destroy Mr. Trump, me and others.”

It’s just how the democrats roll.

Yogurt December 15, 2017 at 10:24 PM

Please research Project Veritas. Conservatives also try to manipulate the media to their own gains also.

Stop playing like it’s a one sided problem.

Thanks but I’ll leave the leftist propaganda to you.

Jack Broadbent is and unelected hack, yet he controls our life. How can this be?

Fred P. December 22, 2017 at 6:34 AM

This state elected politicians whose goal was to increase the bureaucracies. The problem is that nobody is holding the politicians’ feet to the fire.

Original G December 15, 2017 at 9:06 PM

Atlanta Federal Reserve as of December 14 is forecasting a GDP of 3.3%.
New York Federal Reserve as of today is predicting a GDP of 3.98%.

The FED supported Obama’s slow pathetic recovery with quantitative easing well into 2013 by injecting 85 BILLION Dollars PER MONTH into the economy and continued to hold the rate basically at ZERO..
‘Obama First President Since Great Depression Not to See 3% GDP Growth’

During a question and answer period of House Financial Services Committee hearing July 17, 2013 then Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said, “I don’t think the Fed can get interest rates up very much, because the economy is weak, inflation rates are low,” …
“If we were to tighten policy, the economy would tank.”

Federal Open Market Committee has raised interest rates three time in 2017 after almost a decade of price fixing the rate artificially low.

Yogurt December 15, 2017 at 10:28 PM

You do realize that Obama inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression and he helped bring this country back from the brink of economic disaster

The growth we see today was built on the back of his administration s work

You post half truths at best

Original G December 15, 2017 at 11:18 PM

In order to commit those funds business had sitting on the side lines, Obama lectured about then threatened to tax, tow conditions need to exist. Political stability and regulatory certainty, neither of which were in evidence during the Obama administration.

A then Democrat member of congress wrote in the Hill dot com about President Obama’s short comings.
‘Dem lawmaker blasts ‘Professor Obama’ as arrogant, alienating’
“After observing President Obama for the last three years, it has become obvious to me that the president might prefer to be a university professor rather than do the job he holds today. While he might not realize that he feels this way, the evidence is very clear to those who work with or watch him closely.

Let me be clear — I’m not trying to disparage professors. But anyone who wonders why the president is not crushing the weak Republican field only needs to examine how President Obama has behaved more like Professor Obama:

In the president’s first year in office, his administration suffered from what I call “idea disease.” Every week, and sometimes almost every day, the administration rolled out a new program for the country. There was no obvious prioritization and, after the rollout, very little effort to actually pass the latest idea/imperative/plan/edict. Instead, the new programs just kept coming, with the new proposals constantly stepping on the previous day’s message. This rampant “idea disease” squandered the tremendous goodwill generated by the Obama campaign’s message of “hope,” tainting the president’s personal appeal. ”

Democrat and casino owner Paul Wynn on Obama.

Before Obama’s second term msnbc was questioning why?

Obama couldn’t get Democrats to vote for his budgets.
2012 ‘Senate rejects Obama budget in 99-0 vote’
2014 ‘House kills Obama budget 2-413’
2015 ‘Obama budget defeated 98-1 in Senate vote’

JWB December 16, 2017 at 7:50 AM

Probably not you fault Original G but you realize that you’re falling for propaganda? Your post mixes annual and quarterly GDP growth. While it is true that under Obama the annual GDP growth rate never breached 3% the quarterly growth reached or exceeded 3% growth 8 times between 2009 and 2016.

Your quotes about the Atlanta and New York Federal Reserve are about quarterly GDP growth. For the full year 2018 the Fed has just increased the annual growth forecast from 2.1% to 2.5%.

Yogurt, You meant ” half assed economics”………double the national debt in 8 years but, by god, that “Cash for Clunkers” worked well.
Obama had the economic acumen of a a Yugo factory manager.

Yogurt December 16, 2017 at 7:27 AM

Is it not true that because of republicans running the country for 8 years, that they almost financially ruined the country?

Has everyone already forgotten 08-09? We were in that because of the awful economic policies of the bush administration

Obama’s admin brought rules to protect the consumers and helped bring us back from disaster. There is no way around that truth.

Stop pointing to the federal deficit like that’s the only way to measure the economic success of an administration

If that’s so bad, you should be angry about the tax reform deal that was just approved because that should raise the deficit another trillion dollars over the next 10 years

But don’t let facts get in the way of just bashing people because of their party. Please return to calling names because that always furthers the conversation

Yogurt December 16, 2017 at 7:34 AM

It nice to have a better balance in Washington. That’s always best for the people.

I think this is a bit of an outlier election. We won’t know until 2020 if Alabama really wants a Democrat or if they just didn’t want a gross pervert representing them

I think it’s more the latter, but it’s fun to watch.

NunYa December 16, 2017 at 1:53 AM

Thank God Mueller is prosecuting Trump and not the Clinton’s.

Yogurt December 16, 2017 at 7:32 AM

He is investigating Trump’s administration not prosecuting them

And the clintons have been investigated plenty of times. This fallacy that no one looked into everything they’ve done is just conservative propaganda

The FBI has looked into it all and cleared them. The uranium deal wasn’t just the clintons, it was approved by the house and senate.

Please stop reading info wars. It doesn’t make you smarter

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 10:03 AM

Look at that, I caught myself one of them there liberals, Clat Too Burabasos Gurt. LOL

Forsythe December 16, 2017 at 7:48 AM

A high level FBI Official, Peter Strzok, performed a hat trick of political espionage. He shielded Hillary Clinton from criminal prosecution by convincing James Comey to soften his description of her mishandling of classified information.

Peter Strzok’s mistress, who also worked at the FBI, wrote that they had a mutual duty to prevent Trump from winning the White House.

She advised, “Maybe you are meant to stay where you are because you are meant to protect the country from that menace.” To which he replied: “I’ll try and approach it that way.”

Police states, not democracies, fix elections.

The Democrats suffer from an enormous sense of entitlement. They believe Trump is a singular “menace” to be stopped by any means necessary.

When governing the “deplorables”, anything goes.

High level FBI agents became the political tools of both the Obama Administration and the Clinton campaign.

To prevent corruption, government agencies are monitored by Inspector Generals (IGs). The Obama administration didn’t want anyone looking too closely at their dealings, so the role of the IGs was weakened. Federal agencies were allowed to run amok. Now that Inspector Generals within the Justice Department are back on the job, the truth is starting to emerge.

President Trump has an impressive record in outmaneuvering opponents. It isn’t easy to drain swamps filled with entrenched, arrogant bureaucrats, but he intends to do just that.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 9:39 AM

Thank goodness the FBI has agents willing to break the law and abuse their position…. lie, falsify documents, and spy on Republicans so that they can spare the American voters the awful pain of electing the “wrong” person in a fair & honest election. We should let the FBI make all our decisions for us… as long as they’re Democrats that is!

Tax Reform = making every citizen and every business pay 10 percent, with no loopholes, no dodges, no write-offs, no nothing! You pay your 10 and shut the H up! Anyone discovered cheating loses EVERYTHING and gets to start over.
GOP Tax Reform = give your rich friends more money, take money from the lower and the middle classes, and increase our national debt. It’s amazing how many times the GOP does this and few in its base realize they’re getting screwed too!

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 9:55 AM

I fear we may all be blinded by prosperity and never realize how badly we are being screwed by a booming economy, great job market and higher wages… Oh the humanity!

Potato Head December 16, 2017 at 9:33 PM

Do you really think the good stock market is due to Trump being in office for less than 1 year? Bush 2 drove it into a severe recession while in office. The economy was well on the way to a full recovery when Obama left office. Besides, the stock market is simply a gambling game, and right now Trump and the oligarchs are throwing money into it to pull in the suckers. I hope you get out before they drive it back to triple digits.

Elvis December 17, 2017 at 2:38 PM

Tax dollars going to alleviate the problems of the growing hoard of homeless in this country, the most of which are citizens including a large number of veterans, I really don’t mind. What I do object to are tax dollars spent on illegal immigrants who are here as guests and breaking the law, but the first to jump up on the steps of city hall demanding whatever it is they happen to be demanding this week.

The information available is in sworn testimony and evidence

There is not enough to make a decision but I can tell you that those are the things they are looking for

A real possibility is that the trump team didn’t knowingly get help from Russia

Russia certainly interfered with the election. To think otherwise is just putting your head in the sand. All government intelligence agencies agree.

Pay attention, stop pretending that it democrats vs trump. It’s about diovering the truth

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 1:07 PM

Rumor is that Trump is going fire Mueller for Christmas… and for stacking his attack team with left wing lemmings.

Nature Lover December 16, 2017 at 4:12 PM

Mueller and his boss, Rod Rosenstein are both REPUBLICANS.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 17, 2017 at 10:42 AM

Nature Lover does not understand that a lot of establishment Republicans didn’t want Trump and are not above trying to take him out by any means, legal or otherwise (just like the Democrats).

Yogurt December 17, 2017 at 12:19 PM

You do realize that he might have done something wrong and illegal?

The government owes the truth to the American public if he did.

If he knowingly accept d help from Russia, then we need to know

If he helped them launder money, we need to know

If he lied about it while under oath, we need to know.

It doesn’t matter that it’s trump, it’s about knowing if the person in power lied cheated and stole his way to the office and if he continues to do it while in office

Making it a partisan issue is silly, and I while I lean left, I think the democrats that call for impeachment now are ridiculous

The senate intelligence agency will let’s us know exactly what Russia did and what the Trumps role was

Mueller will let us know if he did anything illegal

Elvis December 17, 2017 at 2:58 PM

Where did you get the information to make you so sure about that, from the same people who told you Hillary would win the election? We’re still waiting for the lightbulbs above your heads to go on.

Aspirin December 16, 2017 at 5:29 PM

When the FBI is getting close the guilty resort to desperate measures such as attacking the integrity of the agency.

We are seeing this happening now. Trump and his gang are worried, and they should be.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 8:43 PM

You don’t have to be a Democrat to be a rat.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 8:48 PM

Aspirin…. what integrity? Please be specific… I haven’t seen any.

Wishful thinking by disheartened Dimmiecrats.

Elvis December 17, 2017 at 2:11 PM

Shocking. Why worry about Russians when your own FBI has stated intent to throw the election? Clearly more dangeous. The Russian thing that Democrats latched onto like rabid dogs was just a diversion to deflect attention from this issue. Trump was right in wanting to drain the swamp. Looks like we’ve entered the Reformation. Last Democrat standing, if there are any, gets to lead the Democrats out of the hell they have created for themselves.

The Benghazi investigations, which lasted six years, were undeniably headed by anti-Obama Republicans. With this in mind, why are Trump and his supporters panicking and wetting their pants about the so-called ‘bias’ of Robert Mueller, who is not even a Democrat?

Forsythe December 17, 2017 at 6:45 AM

My bet is that Andrew McCabe will be fired, not Mueller.

Rush Limbaugh outlined the outrageousness of the FBI’s tactics on Wednesday: “This is a firestorm scandal. They’re in McCabe’s office, all three of them, Strzok, Lisa Page and McCabe. They’re thinking that Trump’s gonna win this thing. They were putting together a strategy.”

Strzok said: “Look, Lisa, I hope you’re right that there’s no way this guy gets elected, but we can’t take that risk.”

The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro explains: “the insurance policy text may have fatally wounded the Mueller investigation. This looks an awful lot like a plot to investigate Trump in order to sink Trump.”

“How can Mueller come back from that? He’s fired Strzok and Page, but if the investigation was a political hit job, how can it be ethical, particularly in the absence of a smoking gun regarding collusion?”

“It’s not just that this is fruit of the poisonous tree — there’s no fruit to show, just the poisonous tree.”

Aspirin December 17, 2017 at 8:16 AM

The GOP (mostly Trump) desperately needs a distraction from Mueller’s investigation. The Republican Dirty Tricks and Lies Squad is hard at work again.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 17, 2017 at 11:08 AM

12 members on Benghazi committee & 5 were Democrats.

Captain Bebops December 17, 2017 at 10:08 AM

People, some of these issues are non-partisan. Being in the arts and media business I’m very liberal but I started seeing “red flags” about a rising “dumb liberalism” that championed pensions that simply by any stretch of the imagination could work (and haven’t) and then raising the minimum wage which does not actually solve the problem. The first was a vain attempt to attach more applicants to government work and the second not well thought out.

Nobody regardless of political persuasion should not let politicians and government officials look at them as an ATM they can get money from any time they want and these days many people need every dime of income they make just to stay alive. I’m for social programs but they should be well thought out. You all should recognize the problem: no one in their right mind wants to run for public office so it’s left to opportunists.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 17, 2017 at 10:50 AM

I wonder what the left’s reaction would be if Trump’s Administration weaponized the FBI & IRS against the Democrats, then made up lies and secured FISA warrants based on those lies to spy on Democrat candidates?

I’ll bet they’d be rioting in the streets…. just like they did at Trump rallies before the election.

MuellerGate December 17, 2017 at 12:34 PM

Dirty tricks! The modern version of bugging a political opponents office. This was done by a Congressional lawyer to unseat an elected President???? Why is Mueller and his team still walking the streets?

“We understand that the special counsel’s office has subsequently made extensive use of the materials it obtained from the GSA, including materials that are susceptible to privilege claims,” Langhofer wrote. He added that some of the records obtained by the special counsel’s office from the GSA “have been leaked to the press by unknown persons.”

Pretty much indicating that the lessons of history are lost on Democrats. As Santayana once said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It’s why Republicans watch Democrats like hawks. Democrats keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over, again.

As predicted earlier this year, in their headlong stumble progressive liberal politicians running this state seeing campaign contributions and big dollar signs from POT taxes allowed Consumer SAFETY to take a back seat rather than mandating growers step up safety measures.

‘California’s legal weed could give you an infection: Scores of crops sold this year ‘contain mold, pesticides and other contaminants’, tests reveal’

“Any marijuana sold when recreational sales become legal January 1 in the nation’s most populous state will have been grown without regulatory controls that will eventually be in place.

Pot could contain pesticides, molds and other contaminants.
Buyer beware,’ cautioned Donald Land, a University of California, Davis, chemistry professor who is the chief scientific consultant at Steep Hill Labs Inc., which tests marijuana in several states.

Earlier this year, Land oversaw testing that found 93 percent of samples collected by KNBC-TV from 15 dispensaries in four Southern California counties tested positive for pesticides.

That may come as a surprise for consumers who tend to trust what’s on store shelves because of federal regulations by the US Agriculture Department or the US Food and Drug Administration.

‘Unfortunately, that’s not true of cannabis,’ Land said. ‘They wrongly assume it’s been tested for safety.’

Stiffer regulations and testing requirements are being phased in next year, but growers and sellers have a six-month grace period to sell existing inventory grown under the loosely regulated medical marijuana program in place two decades.”

As CA Pot taxes drive up the cost of legal Pot they will create a vibrant underground economy as consumers seek out lower cost un-taxed Pot.

Criminals after the quick buck and gangs will stake out “their areas” and will use violence to hold those areas. Killings and take over robberies of licensed grow operations and sales locations will happen.

Randy December 18, 2017 at 11:14 PM

Well you can’t protect everyone unless you want a law and regulation for everything we do. Is that it you want to control peoples lives?

Original G December 19, 2017 at 4:02 PM

“Well you can’t protect everyone unless you want a law and regulation for everything we do. Is that it you want to control peoples lives?”

OK, should the food and drug administration be abolished?
Should OSHA, Federal Highway safety administration or FAA be abolished to allow people to be “free” of government regulation?

Good luck with that store bought salad with chicken in it without government regulations.

“Yesterday, scores of people found themselves facing the situation every holiday traveler dreads: getting stranded, thanks to a massive power outage that struck Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.” …

“… Chick-fil-A made an exception to its religious rule against working on Sundays to provide food to stranded passengers: …”

“This is nothing new. For years, at both a corporate level and from individual stores, Chick-fil-A has been going out of its way to help people in need. In 2015, the owner of a Birmingham location helped out a man who came in after losing his home, and the year before passed out hundreds of meals to motorists stuck on the highway thanks to a snowstorm. In 2016, an Orlando location made free food for people donating blood to Pulse nightclub shooting victims. Just a couple months ago, a Houston Chick-fil-A manager even sent a boat to help evacuate an elderly couple stuck in their flooded home.

All this from an organization the American Left has vilified as cruel and bigoted simply because its owners happen to be practicing Christians …”

Interesting comment, Randy. I never would have thought there were people stooooooopid enough to post that. You must feel extremely proud.

Original G December 19, 2017 at 4:18 PM

Would appear liberals have an affinity for the minutia of hate and have greater difficulty than most grasping the reality and concept of church going persons taking time out of both the sabbath and their day off to help feed people in need for FREE.

Few persons realize when a hurricane or tornadoes hit there are a convoy of trucks on the road headed towards the disaster area before Federal or State resources show up. Those trucks and the volunteers hand out what victims need for FREE.
Those people are also deeply religious and care about their fellow man and most are conservative.

Perhaps nets should be passed out to liberals so they don’t miss the good acts of persons with deep religious beliefs.

An now back to cup talk.

BTW – In-N-Out Burger also includes references to bible verses on the bottom of their cups. The practice of including bible verses on the bottom of their cups started in the 1980s under the presidency of Rich Snyder who wanted to find a better way to reflect the company’s Christian beliefs.

Your claim of “force” is a real stretch, even for a liberal.

Guess you can’t handle the concept of freedom of speech, nor tolerance, nor diversity of thought/opinion. Not unexpected, since liberals love to claim one thing then immediately display their hypocrisy. Are you now demanding “separation of church and state.” Of course, you woudn’t know the facts about that, either..

Can’t deal with it, snowflake? Go eat elsewhere and leave the adults alone…

More proof of private for profit enterprise running circle around government transportation projects. A government project CAHSR which will always require subsidizing taxpayer dollars to operate.

How about this “Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Hyperloop One sets a new speed record of nearly 240mph in a major step towards launching a global high-speed transport system by 2021”

Fred P. December 21, 2017 at 9:09 AM

The CA high speed rail system is essentially using 1800’s technology – just at a faster speed. Branson and Musk (ie, private industry) are looking ahead to the future/thinking outside the box.

I’d believe Branson/Musk any day over the incompetent politicians whose sole goal is to get re-elected.

Always Right December 19, 2017 at 9:05 PM

Listening to the senate democrats repeat their lies about the tax plan and (of course) falsely claim it will be the end of social security and medicare.

The good news is they are not in power, and America has a chance now to break out from the over regulated, low growth, crony capitalist Obama era.

Better wages, better jobs, a better economy is on the way. Merry Christmas!

Randy December 20, 2017 at 2:34 PM

Don’t know where you’ve been hiding or drinking

This from Dec 9 2017

Speaker Paul D. Ryan, R-Wisc., have been speaking more openly about how they’re planning to eviscerate government programs for the middle and working class.

Ryan laid out these plans the other day in a remarkable interview with Denver radio host Ross Kaminsky, a conservative and apparently a long-term Ryan supporter. During the companionable 10-minute chat, Ryan identified Medicare and Medicaid as the drivers of “the debt and the deficit.”

As Margaret Thatcher said – the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.

JWB December 21, 2017 at 9:15 AM

.. while the problem with capitalism is that eventually you run out of other people to exploit.

Fred P. December 22, 2017 at 6:40 AM

“…while the problem with capitalism is that eventually you run out of other people to exploit.”

That’s your nugget of “wisdom?”

Given that the US is essentially a capitalist society, why don’t you move to Venezuela? You’d be much happier there…

Dr. Jellyfinger December 22, 2017 at 8:31 AM

Capitalism will run out of people to exploit?
Providing jobs is exploitation?
If that’s true then Trump is exploiting the hell out of blacks…. those unemployment stats have dropped dramatically.
I guess Obama was their champion and not exploiting them by creating any jobs, just kept providing welfare & unemployment checks.

JWB December 22, 2017 at 10:01 AM

@ Freddy

The US ” is essentially a capitalist society”? Really, I thought you guys were labelling Hillary a “socialist” and didn’t she most of the votes? And didn’t the socialist Obama win the previous two elections?

Maybe you should look for another place where you feel happier?

@ DJ

You really think only “R”s create jobs? Maybe you want to try again?

Fred P. December 20, 2017 at 7:26 AM

@aspi9rin – we’re still waiting for you to resolve your claim about Hillary’s e-mails. She said she deleted them and you said it was made up and (essentially) all lies that they were deleted.

So are both of you lying?

Venice December 20, 2017 at 12:48 PM

The best part of this week’s vast tax cut reform package is the end of the horrible obamacare forced mandate that the majority of Americans rejected.
This is a massive relief to millions of Americans, stuck between the rock of having to buy overpriced, under-delivering obamacare health insurance policies and the hard place of paying large, gratuitous fines, which the Supreme Court ruled a tax, if they don’t.
It’s the most questionably legal and outrageously bad law since Prohibition because it’s literally a life tax. obamacare law, up until now, requires that everyone stuck in the individual market either buy these costly policies or be taxed for being alive without one.
Good riddance to that horrible unwanted and unneeded corrupt law that was forced on us by a corrupt administration.

Fred P. December 20, 2017 at 1:27 PM

@venice – and most people forgot that the ACA was just another tax – despite claims to the contrary.

Venice December 20, 2017 at 1:42 PM

Liberals seem to suffer the delusion that big government is the answer to everything.

Original G December 20, 2017 at 7:29 PM

The guy actually brags about what they did. .

“Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber bragging about deceiving the American people, who he thinks are stupid.”
” GRUBER: “American voters are too stupid to understand the difference” ”
“Dr. Gruber tells how Obamacare discourages health care use”

“No President has seen more all time highs (70) in their first year in office than President Trump. No one has seen more all-time highs in a year ever.” …

“AT&T quickly responded to this historical tax cut and announced Wednesday it will be issuing over 200,000 U.S. employees a special $1,000 bonus and will also increase US capital spending by $1 billion.” …

“… Fifth Third Bancorp announced it will “raise its minimum hourly wage for all employees to $15, and distribute one-time bonus of $1,000 to more than 13,500 employees.” ”

” … Comcast announced it will invest a whopping $50 billion into infrastructure projects over the next five years due to the Republicans’ tax plan. The media giant will also give $1000 bonuses to more than 100,000 employees.” ….

“James Woods tweeted, “The victims of eight years of socialist insanity emerge from the depths of #Obama hell into the light of prosperity, industry, and true hope…” ”

“These 55 stocks have at least doubled since Trump was elected”

A one time, tax deductible pay out, in exchange for years of billions of dollars

Seems fair.

Fred P. December 21, 2017 at 6:59 AM

Randy – your ignorance of taxes and economics knows no bounds….

Average Joe December 21, 2017 at 8:56 AM

It’s a great day for lower middle class folks like me. I just did my calculations for the new 2018 federal tax bill and unlike Pelosi and her band thieves are saying MY TAXES ARE GOING DOWN! Funny thing is that the money that I will get back will mostly be eaten up by Brown’s new gas and registration increases. But besides that I will still have a little extra cash next year. At least until the Governor comes up with another way to take it.

Fred P. December 21, 2017 at 11:01 AM

Wow, randy – you’re begruding one person presumably saving millions – yet you ignore the millions of taxpayers that will save money.

With ~138,000,000 taxpayers (say 100,000,000), each will save “thousands” using your words. That’s a total savings of at least two hundred BILLION dollars vs the tax savings to Trump of “millions” (again, using your words).

As I’ve said before your knowledge of the proposed changes in the tax laws is certainly not grounded in reality. And the biggest impact is to high tax states – like California… which, coincidentally, is a liberal (Trump-hating) state.

You have a lot of gall in calling someone a “dummy”, simply because of your inability and unwillingness to look at the entire picture. Like most liberals, you’re whining is all about me, me, me.

That being said, grow up and learn someting about economics, business and taxes – rather than just taking the liberal/pelosi talking points at face value. And if you want to be taken seriously, attempt to have a rational discussion rather than stooping to personal insults – which seems to be a liberal tradition.

And if you claim to “know” something about taxes, let’s see the proof where it’ll hurt the country. And I’m talking facts, not opinions…

Randy December 21, 2017 at 1:08 PM

Fred you make no sense. Drop the tax rate to 1% for those hard working middle class and see how many billions you pump in to the economy. Im surprised of your support for millionaires pocketing more money. Who cares about how much they pay.

Fred P. December 22, 2017 at 11:39 AM

Randy – guess you still have some things to learn about taxes.

If you’re insulted by how much Trump (and others) are making, then go move to some third-world $hit-hole where you (and JWB) will be happier.

I wouldn’t expect you to understand… from the liberals’ perspective, it’s all about gimme, gimme, gimme and “it’s “unfair.”

Go whine to someone who gives a crap about you.

Fred P. December 21, 2017 at 11:31 AM

And BTW, if you have any investments that have gained value over the past year… I suggest you send those gains to your local charity. We wouldn’t want you to take advantage of the stock market’s gain with your bashing of Trump…. That would be so hypocritical…..

Randy December 21, 2017 at 12:59 PM

Remeber the crash of 2008? Stock market at 8000?

JWB December 21, 2017 at 1:29 PM

Hey Freddy how much did you send to charity considering all the gains you made under Obama. I’m sure you don’t consider yourself a hypcrite…….

Fred P. December 21, 2017 at 3:44 PM

But I wasn’t whining about it.

Unlike the liberals who whine about Trump.

See the difference?

Maybe I need to get the big crayons for you and use one-syllable words.

Let me explain it to those mentally-challenged. If you’re against what the individual does, then don’t take advantage of the results of what the individual does.

Get it yet?

Or do you need to up your meds?

How much did I send to charity? Not that it’s any of your damn business, but I donated $3200 to three charities through work, and donated property valued at ~$1800 to other charities since we donwsized in preparation for retirement. Would you like to see the rest of my taxes to prove that I’m not a liar? Unless you’re the IRS and I’m being audited, that ain’t gonna happen.

And no, I don’t consider myself a hypocrite.

JWB December 21, 2017 at 5:24 PM

Of course conservatives like you didn’t whine about Obama…. I have to say I love your sarcasm.

But aside that, you actually wrote: “you send those gains to your local charity” which only can mean that those gains you made during Obama totaled $5,000. Since the S&P500 rose from 2009 through 2016 by about 180% or in other words you total investment is about $2,800.

Fred P. December 22, 2017 at 6:27 AM

Calling me a liar?

JWB December 22, 2017 at 10:02 AM

@ Freddy

I guess you just answered your own question ……

JWB December 21, 2017 at 2:29 PM

@ Original G

I recall you were recently posting about the lack of GDP growth in the Obama years. If I recall you parroted the talking point that we didn’t see or exceed 3% growth at all …..

Do you want to comment on what economist at least at this time forecast for Trump?

“Overall for the year, the economy is expected to post about 2.3 percent annual growth, which is up from 1.6 percent in 2016 but would be lower than 2014 and 2015.”

Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, is forecasting 2.9 percent growth for 2018, slightly higher than the 2.5 percent expected without the tax bill. But by 2019, the rate of growth will fall to 2.2 percent and then 1 percent in 2020.

“The deficit-financed tax cuts will act like fiscal stimulus, temporarily pumping up growth,” Zandi wrote in his forecast.

But he added that “the tax legislation will also fail to provide a meaningful boost to long-term growth.”

Venice December 21, 2017 at 3:08 PM

The Democrats both in the Senate and in the House of Representatives united against tax cuts. Well, nobody expected anything else from the founding fathers of the Ku Klux Klan and the socialists’ party.
Twelve Republican congressmen joined Democrats. The Republican dozen, except one, are from California, New York, and New Jersey – that is, from traditionally leftist states with the highest state and local taxes in America. As a result (treacherous, of course) of the Trump plan, state taxes now must be paid not in lieu of, but (oh, the horror!) in addition to federal taxes. There is nothing strange and personal about the behavior of the Republican dozen. Just business. After all, their votes could not change anything, and these congressmen…well, you know, are up for re-election next year.
Citizens of America, who accidentally survived the horror of Trump’s abolition of state control over the internet, are bracing for another painful endeavor – they will have to cope with more money in their wallets. And do not forget that in the modern newspeak, the transfer of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is anti-Semitism, and the rejection of government control over the Internet is fascism. A reduction in corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, which will make America a magnet for global investments, is, understandably, totalitarianism.
The end of the world, known only to the enlightened leftist elites with the highest I.Q.s, will come, they said, very soon. The end of the world is inevitable because dictator Trump also canceled the Obamacare mandate for the compulsory purchase of overpriced medical insurance plans, unquestionably beloved by all Americans. Excuse me while I vomit!
Still, you can be saved, but only if you buy our best snake oil that Trump must be impeached. Impeached by those who manage to survive the apocalypse of low taxes.

Randy December 21, 2017 at 8:31 PM

Once US murder capital, NYC close to record low in homicides

NEW YORK — Even after two terror attacks and a driver’s deadly rampage through Times Square, New York City is on track to smash its modern-era low for homicides in a year.

Through Dec. 17, the city of 8.5 million people, once America’s murder capital, had recorded 278 killings. That puts it on pace to end this year with killings down 14 percent from last year, and well below the 333 in 2014, which was the year with the fewest homicides since the city began keeping accurate crime statistics in 1963.

Big Telecom Got a Massive Break from the GOP Tax Bill, and It’s Raising Prices

Christmas came early for Big Telecom this year. Along with the repeal of net neutrality by the Federal Communications Commission, these companies will also receive some of the biggest tax breaks under the new GOP legislation. Oh, and many of them are raising prices for customers too.
