The Water Cooler – What’s Your Favorite Flavor of Ice Cream?

September 22, 2017 12:00 pm · 53 comments

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

Today’s question:

It’s Friday, so let’s take it easy. Tell us, what’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Talk about it….

Ben and Jerry’s Banana Split with a good pistachio second though it would be hard to beat the pistachio like I had in India with fresh pistachios and topped with chocolate liqueur!

Whatever! If I go into an ice cream shop that I haven’t been to before I will always pick something new. (to me). How else would I have been able to enjoy Hucklberry ice cream up there in northern Montana? If it’s good enough for the Grizzly’s it good for me too.

Chocolate, but about a year ago I developed an allergy to chocolate. So my second choice is any flavor but strawberry and vanilla. For some reason strawberry ice cream doesn’t taste good to me and vanilla is too plain.
Eggnog ice cream is good during the holidays.

The cold kind!

Anything that does not have nuts is fine with me.

Once at school the choices for Ice Cream Day were Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry and Butterscotch. I was the only kid in the entire school who picked Butterscotch.

Usually French Vanilla. I could also be cajoled into Coffee, Pralines and Cream from Baskin Robbins, Double Dark Chocolate gelato, Ben and Jerry’s Salted Caramel, mmmm🤤

29 Chocolate Marshmallow September 22, 2017 at 4:20 PM

Can’t find it here….popular back east…

30 Lambie September 22, 2017 at 4:32 PM

Baskin Robbins used to have black licorice – that was my favorite, I think it was available in October. It was almost black, more like charcoal.

Graeter’s (from Cincinnati) Chocolate Chip is about as close to heaven on earth as you can get. Chips the size of a Mazda Miata. Pints sold at Whole Foods.

Grape Nut ice cream from Brown’s in York, Maine.

33 What's wrong with you ? September 22, 2017 at 5:41 PM

We made a lot of homemade ice cream when I was a child. Vanilla is still my favorite.

I’ll take the Tootsi – Frootsi!

I have fantastic memories from my childhood of the homemade peach ice cream at my grandparent’s house.

Now, my favorite is Baskin Robbin’s Winter White Chocolate.

Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food…. but I don’t eat ice cream anymore, at least not until I lose enough weight to get outa the “Dickie Do Club”.

42 Ancient Mariner September 22, 2017 at 10:38 PM

When I was a kid there were three kinds of ice cream: strawberry, chocolate and plain. They called the plain ‘vanilla’. I thought it meant ‘without flavour’, i.e ‘plain and boring’. As an adult I discovered “French vanilla” ice cream – now that’s not plain at all! I like it!
Best ice cream I’ve ever had: rum raisin. It was on the Rue Bosquet. A dish of vanilla (yes the good stuff) ice cream with raisins in it,and a shot of white rum on the side to pour over it. Nice!

43 Sean September 23, 2017 at 7:07 AM

Baskin-Robbins’ Cherries Jubilee and Black Walnut (in a regular cake cone!)

44 Silva September 23, 2017 at 9:00 AM

Ancient Mariner, Glad you mentioned the ice cream with rum. I think sometimes a shot of Meyer’s Rum or Jack Daniels poured over a scoop or two takes Ice cream to a higher level for grownups.😊

Safeways Caribo Caramel, Leave some for me.

46 Kirkwood September 23, 2017 at 2:09 PM

Fresh peach when peaches are in season, fresh strawberry when strawberries are in season, otherwise, vanilla.

I’m pretty sure if ya just pick the nuts out
of Rocky Road you’ll instantly have your
favorite!

51 ChampagneKitty September 23, 2017 at 9:23 PM

Mint chocolate chip. FYI, if you happen to be lactose intolerant, the ice cream shop Cream in Concord and Walnut Creek has a couple different flavors of soy ice cream.

52 Steph September 23, 2017 at 10:04 PM

Winter white chocolate at Baskin Robbins. White chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered maraschino cherries. Soooooo good.

Ice Cream Snowballs from Lord’s Ice Cream during the holidays. I love the vanilla, coconut and cute little holly decoration and candle. It brings back childhood memories, and is a fun treat to serve to my kids during the holidays.
