I remember The Happy Steak! $8.95 – dinner for two. Great place for cheap date.

I love the Claycord Online Museum…always brings back memories. That’s about the price per pound now for a rib eye steak.

I remember, but I couldn’t have told you where they were located. Almost thought they’d been at the same locale as Mr. Steak.

There was a Happy Steak on Clayton Rd where IHOP is now.

Wasn’t there a location on Clayton Rd. as well? I believe where the Buttercup grill is now. I used to like going there.

T.Payne September 13, 2017 at 3:23 PM

Kevin, I think that was Mr. Steak. I used to like going there also.

They had one in El Cerrito too.

Mr. Steak was at the El Pollo Loco location on Clayton Rd. and Happy Steak was at the El Rancho location on Monument Blvd if I remember right.

I remember Happy Steak! Used to go their with my folks and nephew in the late 70s/early 80s. Good food!

I loved Happy Steak, had many childhood memories there, in the early 80’s.

and I remember our friend and PHHS Class of 1964 classmate, Janice, working at Happy Steak at Four Corners where the CBS department store used to be located. I actually lived at 1131 Meadow Ln. apartments, years ago It used to be fun walking to the bowling alley and local stores…. those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end……

What a lame name for a steak house. The food was just average. Many restaurants were better at the time, that’s probably why they bit the dust.

Silva September 14, 2017 at 1:43 PM

We tried it once. Liked Mr. Steak much better.
