Why do they rob banks? Because they can

3 George September 13, 2017 at 5:22 PM

This bank is also near the BART station.

Arm all the tellers. Anyone looks suspicious ,blast them.

5 WC September 13, 2017 at 5:47 PM

Because no one shoots at them.

The cops won’t shoot a bank robber cause they’d be shooting an unarmed person. They’d be shooting a robber with a deadly note in hand.

Bold bad robbers! Disgusting behavior!

I thought that bank had protective glass.

9 TIFOKCIS September 13, 2017 at 6:37 PM

Time to start interrogating the bank personnel.

Why rob banks? That’s where the money is

Why no description of the suspects?

12 Mr. Pink September 13, 2017 at 6:57 PM

Frank-LOL. Sure, we may lose a couple of innocents but it’s worth the risk!

13 Joan September 13, 2017 at 7:12 PM

You don’t know your history. They don’t rob banks because they can. According to willie Sutton who said he robs banks because that’s where the money is.

Put in the Roach Motel holding chamber doors
that many banks already have. Bank robbers
can check in, but they don’t check out.

Where the hell is the Security when you need them? These Banks and Cell phone places need Security with Guns!!!

Twice in a month? TIFOKCIS#9 is on to it- somebody working in that bank knows something. Way too easy.

17 ManBearPig September 13, 2017 at 8:19 PM

Its before the 15th, so he may have robbed one bank to pay his mortgage to another. Genius!

Plastic grocery bags are no longer legal. I hope they catch and prosecute this scofflaw!

Shell Credit Union in Martinez has a 4 door bullet proof security vestibule.
Don’t know which company made one Shell CU has.
An example of an Access Control Vestibule.

The SW plastic bags are great… they’re worth a dime!
The paper bags are a joke… handles rip right off but the old style paper bags didn’t have handles & they were ok… but I wouldn’t rob a bank with either one… no… plastic Safeway bags are definitely better for bank jobs… tough bag, sturdy & yet it’s still a colorful, good looking bag.
It’d be a good bag for a Jewelry Store heist too!

Don’t the banks use exploding dye packs anymore?

23 Shoulda Coulda September 14, 2017 at 11:49 AM

@ P’Od

All tellers are instructed to hand over
the money. Just because the bank is
an easy target, it doesn’t make it an
inside job. It doesn’t matter which teller
a robber goes to, they’re gonna hand
them the money.

24 GenXer September 14, 2017 at 1:07 PM

Former banker here. Banks no longer use dye packs because most robbers easily spot them and won’t take them out if the bank. They also don’t work consistently. “Bandit barriers” (i.e. Protective Glass) typically prevents a robber from jumping the counter to take multiple drawers, but don’t prevent a robber from passing a note or displaying a weapon and demanding money.

Banks don’t want employees getting hurt so they will typically not fight back. Robbing a single teller also doesn’t net much money. With the vast majority of robberies being solved and with mandatory sentencing it’s not a good type of crime to go into. This tweeker will be found eventually. The FBI will be assisting local police and bank investigators.

25 P'Od September 14, 2017 at 1:55 PM

Shoulda#25 If that bank gets hit again soon, would you believe it? Lets face it, Concord is easy, and there is no end of the people who would rob here.
I get that the teller isn’t supposed to be a hero, and that’s a great position to take, but if it continues to happen regularly there, I’m suspicious.
What isn’t clear is whether the suspect used a weapon or not.

California’s redistribution of wealth program being applied again!!!

27 Pac islander September 14, 2017 at 4:16 PM

If he is actually white, and not a redistribution of suspect ethinicity. He will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

If he isn’t white, he will be given probation in lieu of jail. Interest of Justice after all…
The famous “IOJ”…

Only other way is if he has 2-3 of the theee “IOJ”s on his record… then maybe…just maybe… they will go for an actual prosecution and risk being labeled a racist for sending a POC to jail.
