Ron Leone announced he is not going to run for re-election to the Concord City Council. Hope Johnson I hope you will run again. You did very well and came close in the last election.

Yes, Hope needs to run again.

KAD, I don’t know if Hope needs to run again, but Concord sure does need her to.

Would be nice if we could get even a single token Republican on the Council.

Concord voter registration is roughly 50% Democrat, 25% Republican and 25% independent/decline to state.

Right now all 5 council members are registered democrats. Some adult supervision is definitely needed.

Republicans on the Council quickly change their party if they have aspirations to run for higher office. Republicans in Claycord don’t get sent to Sacramento.

@#5 – and that’s exactly why DeSaulnier changed his political affiliation.

@#5 – true, but a wise candidate would realize with the usual list of 4-8 candidates on the ballot for council (all registered democrats), a solid conservative Republican could get enough votes to win with just 25% of the electorate Republican.

Even better if the Republican was Hispanic with a social conservative (pro-life, pro traditional marriage, pro parent, patriotic ) point of view. Might even get a good number of democrat votes. Some democrats I know are fed up with the gender-bending, anti-parent, anti-business, anti-America agenda of the California democrat party.
