The City of Concord will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Hillcrest Community Park, Olivera Road at Grant Street.

“We invite the community to celebrate our planet, and bring the family out to improve one of Concord’s most popular parks,” says Concord Events Program Coordinator Shannon Griffin.

Families will assist with tree plantings, path restoration, creek clean-up, butterfly garden prep and trash pick-up. The check-in tent will be located near the playground. Participants are asked to bring gloves and shovels if they have them, and to come in their favorite work clothes.

For more information, contact Shannon Griffin at (925) 671-3068 or shannon.griffin@cityofconcord.org. To RSVP, visit www.signupgenious.com/findasignup and search for event by Griffin’s email address.

It truly is one of concords greatest parks. It’s huge, fairly well kept, is perfect for a variety of uses, and it’s right next to the airport so you can watch planes take off all day which kids love as well as adults. The only downside is the trailer park next to it and the gang bangers in the area. Just don’t wear red or blue to this park and stay away at night.

What’s this butterfly thing?
