A man was robbed at a business on Clayton Rd., near Treat Blvd. on Sunday evening just after 10 p.m.

A gun was placed to the victim’s head, and he was robbed by the suspect, who’s described as a white male adult in his 30s with a bandana over his face, an all black baseball hat on his head and a thin mustache.

Further details are unavailable at this time. Police are currently searching the area with a K-9.

How is this possible in California home of gun control ????
OH that’s right law abiding citizens can’t have guns on their person in public.
Yet high democrat politicians have armed protection details.

How does one know he has a mustache if he’s wearing a bandana across his face.. Regardless, glad the victim is ok!

Hoboike March 19, 2017 at 11:16 PM

I thought the same thing about the mustache .
I guess watch to much Colombo.

What is the name of the business? CPD sure has been busy this weekend.

OBVIOUSLY his bandana was only covering his mouth.. March 20, 2017 at 12:29 AM

because he HAD to show off his cool new mustache he grew.

Duh, guys.

Hmmmm March 20, 2017 at 6:31 AM

Hmmmm, you are completely wrong. He would be dead or shot. You have a gun to your head, how do you defend yourself? Do you have training? Do they train you on what to do in that situation when they sell you the gun? More guns does not equal less crime.

Mr. Pink March 20, 2017 at 6:38 AM

Which business, and was it open? Was the victim utilizing said business?

greg March 20, 2017 at 7:02 AM

@Hmm ?

Yeah, sure. If someone came up behind you and put a gun to your head, clearly the safest thing you can do at that moment is swing around and try to pull your own gun out before getting shot.

Owning a gun definitely would have changed that whole scenario.

Yes which business did this happen at the new starbucks…or the liquor store
near there..would like to no so can stay away from that area..scary…you go into a local business and now have to worry about someone putting a gun to your head…hope they find the bad guy…before he kills someone next time.

Has anyone noticed how more and more Concord areas are becoming ‘Scary’ ? Used to be the closer you got to Clayton, or Walnut Creek, the better the area was. Now, the danger goes right to the borders!

The illegal bingo gambling hall right next to burger king got robbed

Chicken Little March 20, 2017 at 10:21 AM

No, owning a gun wouldn’t have changed the scenario at all. Carrying it concealed would not have necessarily changed it, either. Yes, attempting to use it would have made things go differently (maybe better, maybe worse).

My point is that carrying a concealed weapon just gives you another option. You are not required to use it at any time. Part of proper training is learning when your best option may be to just comply. Of course, that’s no guarantee that you won’t get killed, anyway, which is why I prefer to have as many options as possible.

“Illegal gambling bingo hall”??
Is there really one?

Good post Chicken Little.

Deport them!!!

Politicians keep spouting gun control will make us safer by keeping guns out of hands of criminals. Obviously that was no the case in this crime.
In previous post did not state the victim should have pulled a gun. In fact if the victim was carrying concealed without a permit he would have been instantly arrested on top of being a crime victim.

Important part
Criminals are assured by gun laws CA liberals have passed that almost all their victims are defenseless and therefor easy pickings.

Criminals in Texas operate on the opposite mindset because they have no idea who is legally carrying a concealed firearm and will use it.

As of May 2016 over one million Texans were licensed to carry concealed.
As of June 2015 estimated 70,000 ccw permit holders in CA or 0.2 percent of the state’s population. That puts odds in favor of the criminals.

Meanwhile back in CA democrats holding higher office either have armed security details protecting them or have conceal carry permits and carry firearms.

Question how many times can you recall standard democrat pitch to get the public to give them more money they say “it is to keep our children safe”.
Unfortunately the threat was created by a law or proposition they thought up.
AB-109 and Prop 47 just to name two.

democrats have created a criminal friendly soft on crime state and you keep electing them ?????

Chicken Little March 20, 2017 at 6:14 PM

Thanks, Atticus.

Seems like too many of you watch (and believe) too much TV/Movie use of guns.

Guns will definitely change the scenario. How? Depends on the user. We don’t know how the scumbag robber committed the robbery, so there may have been an opportunity to use a gun to defend yourself. Or, there may not have been.

Disarming the public does nothing to help us take care of being our own defender. In Contra Costa County, only 290 CCW Permits have been issued to regular citizens. That’s PEANUTS!!! Come on Sheriff. Get with it. You need to allow us the ability to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe from the predators that walk the streets and try to invade our homes and businesses and cause us harm or take our lives away.

Let’s breakdown the math shall we? Total of 317 CCW approvals (with 290 to regular Joe’s like me). That is a 17%(!) approval rate which means only 1864 have applied for one. Contra Costa has approximately 1 million people (as of 2010). Most who want a CCW never bother to apply since most know they will be turned down. It costs time and money to get denied.

Can you imagine what would happen if the Sheriff went ‘Shall Issue’? We would have honest, law abiding citizens who are now able to defend themselves from the scumbags. Now, they just might have second thoughts before attempting to steal, harm, kill us in our homes and businesses. Scumbags aren’t looking for a fight. They’re looking for victims.

Just because some of you are scared of guns, doesn’t mean all of us are. That also doesn’t give you the right to decide for us whether we get one or not. Just like riding a roller coaster. Some are scared and won’t. No biggie. Just don’t tell me I can’t ride one if I want to.

Dr. Jellyfinger March 20, 2017 at 7:56 PM

I would never carry a gun.. or buy life insurance, health insurance, car insurance… etc.
Who needs to worry about their own well being?
Just forget all that stuff and hang loose… nothing bad is ever going to happen to you…. ever.

Jenny Lynn March 20, 2017 at 8:21 PM

OMG people, Concord is now “scary”?! Reading the comments on most of these stories lately is “scary”… it is 2017, stop acting so sheltered and ignorant.

Justyfiable Languor March 22, 2017 at 7:27 AM

I’m still grappling with the bandana and thin mustache comment. What was the bandana covering, if not his lower face?
