The Water Cooler – Tonight’s Debate

September 26, 2016 12:00 pm · 84 comments

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

Today’s question:

Do you plan to watch tonight’s presidential debate?

Talk about it.

1 Simonpure September 26, 2016 at 12:03 PM

Will be the best comedy show on earth.

2 ConcordDad September 26, 2016 at 12:04 PM

I believe in my 44 years of being alive this is the worst choices I’ve ever had. This is going to be a lessor of two evils election to me. I have to go with Hillary as I don’t want my kids going to war over trumps mouth and anger. All politicians are liars that’s not even a debatable topic.

3 TinFoiler September 26, 2016 at 12:06 PM

Nope. I’ll check online for how many water breaks, seizures and fainting episodes she has.
Neither one are presidential material. It’s amazing that people still gobble up the Two party scam.
Check out the George Carlin voting video.

4 Pillage the village September 26, 2016 at 12:10 PM

No.

5 Anon September 26, 2016 at 12:21 PM

Yes

6 Zardoz September 26, 2016 at 12:26 PM

Going to watch, record, laugh and scream.
This will be as entertaining as a good Saturday Night skit. The future of the world depends on these two clowns? More a tragedy than a comedy.

7 mohairs September 26, 2016 at 12:33 PM

I agree with all the past comments. It is a lesser of two evils election and neither one is ‘presidential’ material.
Unfortunately the ‘Reality TV’ era has made a joke out of our government (probably easy to do). Wonder how other countries think of our presidential race. Very sad. 🙁

8 GRX September 26, 2016 at 12:34 PM

No.

My mind is made up. Hilliary is a liar. I want real change and that’s the man named Trump.

9 Cowellian September 26, 2016 at 12:35 PM

I’m in luck!
I’ll be at a Scout meeting, tonight.

10 idiot hater September 26, 2016 at 12:45 PM

Highly doubt it. I really don’t shive a git for either one. I just truly hope that those who say they are leaving the country if their candidate loses actually leaves….

11 biggus thinkus September 26, 2016 at 12:48 PM

wife is, i’m not. i’ll be behind the line cooking pasta and pizzas.
wouldn’t want to watch anyway, i would rather have a do-over.
and, @Cowellian, Go Scouting! Boy or Girl, I’m an Eagle myself.

12 Mika September 26, 2016 at 12:54 PM

Southpark viewers will know what this means- – Giant Douche or Turd Sandwich. Yep, that’s what are choices are!

13 Sandy G. September 26, 2016 at 12:56 PM

No. I plan to avoid it at all costs

14 @ ConcordDad September 26, 2016 at 12:57 PM

Totally agree

15 foonman September 26, 2016 at 1:06 PM

Can’t take any more of the crap from two people that should not be running. There are good people that I would nominate…….but I (as most of you) have a higher standard for those that could shape the future of my country.

16 Dutch September 26, 2016 at 1:33 PM

I already know whom I’m voting for but I will watch the debate anyway. I do wish that the other two candidates were on the stage with Clinton and Trump. All presidential candidates should be involved with the debates regardless of their poll numbers.

17 Noj September 26, 2016 at 1:35 PM

100 million people are expected to see Trump totally dominate Clinton tonight.

I will chug a beer every time Hillary coughs. Bought three sixers.

18 ClayDen September 26, 2016 at 1:38 PM

I certainly will. If the real Hillary reveals herself to the low information voters tonight, it will help ensure a Trump landslide. Though not my first (or second or third or fourth….) choice, Trump is the only hope we have to get the country headed back in the right direction.

19 Outside View September 26, 2016 at 1:56 PM

Our country no longer has the respect or integrity it use to have. More countries now laugh at the United States than ever before. If Hilliary gets elected then you can bet things will get worse.

20 Khloe September 26, 2016 at 1:59 PM

Yes, since I no longer watch the NFL. The media continuously fails to point out that Kapernick wore pig socks in cop uniforms to practice. Talk about hate? I don’t see anything peaceful about that, Anyway, as long as Donald stays focused on Crooked Hillary and Crooked Hillary only, he will do fine and if Hillary can withhold from telling a lie within 90 minutes, she might be ok.

21 Silva September 26, 2016 at 2:01 PM

I have high hopes for a more entertaining first presidential debate than ever before. I won’t miss it.

22 Media Bias September 26, 2016 at 2:05 PM

Just gonna watch it for ghits and shins. The true entertainment is watching the biased media..just waiting to see how this plays out.

Wish there would be “no” moderator, just the two contenders slugging it out. A large arena for his ego, and a medical crew standing by in case she seizes up with a 15 minute cough.

23 Melanie September 26, 2016 at 2:12 PM

I stopped watching debates a long time ago. Waste of time.

24 FlyingSpaghettiMonster September 26, 2016 at 2:15 PM

I’ll watch. I agree with the above that the moderator should not be the story. He/she should just ask generic questions and yell “time” when the time is up. Sample questions:

For Trump: Do you know CPR in case your opponent collapses?

For Hillary: How does a public servant become wealthy?

25 Patty September 26, 2016 at 2:18 PM

Yes, will watch the debate at one of several Debate Watch Parties. I like the way things are going.

26 Democrat for Trump September 26, 2016 at 2:18 PM

I will watch even though I’ve already made up my mind. I was born and bred a Democrat, however I do not like the direction my country has been heading for a long time. Since I refuse to accept more of the same I will vote for Trump even though the man is a psycho. It still beats having Hillary take us DOWN the same road.

There is no reason to complain if you don’t do your part and vote.

27 Bazooka Joe September 26, 2016 at 2:18 PM

I made up my mind last year last year who I’m voting for and nothing is going to change it. But I will watch the debate just so I can witness my favorite candidate wipe up the floor with the looser.

28 'Merica September 26, 2016 at 2:18 PM

I’m an ‘Murican so I’ll be watching Monday Night Football

29 Everybody hates Hillary September 26, 2016 at 2:31 PM

Hillary Clinton will be a disaster for America, trump is not my favorite pick but he will be way better than that rude arrogant selfish hag.

30 Cellophane September 26, 2016 at 2:40 PM

No, I’ll not have the TV turned on at all.

If something relevant happens, it’ll be on the news for the next week.

Otherwise, I don’t think it matters at all.

Hillary has the Electoral Votes for CA locked up, it’s a done deal whether you like it or not.

31 Dr. Strangelove September 26, 2016 at 2:42 PM

Wouldn’t miss it….Two of the most dishonest people on the earth saying nasty things about each other, to help us all decide which one we choose to run our country right into the ground….

32 CT September 26, 2016 at 2:43 PM

This country has plenty of problems, and I’m not even talking about the candidates. Wow…

33 ME September 26, 2016 at 2:53 PM

Ha ha, I was debating on watching the debate (only if I got fully drunk first) but ‘Merica reminded me that DUH!! Monday Night Football will be on. Well, that solves my debate. Thanks, I feel much better. I really didn’t want to come to work hung over tomorrow.

34 Roz September 26, 2016 at 2:56 PM

Yes, We will be watching.

35 chuckie the troll September 26, 2016 at 3:06 PM

As mentioned in a previous poll, the Troll household do not subscribe to cable TV of any kind. And we won’t be missing much. I suspect that a few sites will post debate highlights, however, why torture myself.

Kinda reminds me of that line from Sleeper where Woody Allen was shown a clip of a speech from either Richard Nixon or Howard Cossell, and was asked if it was used to torture prisoners.

36 bosome September 26, 2016 at 3:10 PM

Those 2 humans on the debate tonight are the most stupid humans on the planet, I wont be called the next most stupid by watching them.

37 ClayDen September 26, 2016 at 3:38 PM

@ME #34

Do both! That’s why we have DVRs.

38 Shut The Trump Door September 26, 2016 at 3:41 PM

Let’s make America lie again!

78.659321% of what Trump spewsout of his orange raccoon face are lies.

39 Easy Choice September 26, 2016 at 3:43 PM

Not watching, will wait for YouTube highlights without biased verbal diarrhea spewing from network talking heads.

Decision is easy you are either for the CORRUPT way things are where politicians of both parties WHORE their votes and bills they sponsor for the mega wealthy large campaign contributors or you are tired of being repeatedly screwed over and want change.

For increased corruption vote clinton.

40 Old Teacher September 26, 2016 at 4:05 PM

I can’t believe the comments. Do you people ever read anything deeper than Facebook or Twitter? Do you ever listen to news that isn’t on Fox? Try to be a responsible citizen and listen to the debates. See who has an actual plan and who has the facts.

41 Old Teacher September 26, 2016 at 4:07 PM

I can’t believe the comments. Do you people ever read anything deeper than Facebook or Twitter? Do you ever listen to news that isn’t on Fox? Try to be a responsible citizen and listen to the debates. See who has an actual plan and who has the facts. Try some actual FACT checking to see who is lying the most. See who is civil and who is just an uncivilized bully.

42 Always Right September 26, 2016 at 4:16 PM

Take a look at Hillary’s hair style tonight. If it covers her ears then you know she has a small speaker in her ear, and a cadre of campaign managers in a nearby room ready to coach her and read out talking points as soon as the questions are asked.

43 Always Right September 26, 2016 at 4:19 PM

We don’t need a fact checker at the debate tonight.

We need an ear checker.

44 The Mamba September 26, 2016 at 4:27 PM

No, they are both cringeworthy, horrible people. I have time for either one of them and couldn’t care less what they have to say.

45 anon September 26, 2016 at 4:28 PM

The news media will just repeat everything for the next month so why watch it tonight.

46 Poster September 26, 2016 at 4:36 PM

I agree with this.
“Shut The Trump Door September 26, 2016 at 3:41 PM
Let’s make America lie again!

78.659321% of what Trump spewsout of his orange raccoon face are lies.”

47 Heck yes!! September 26, 2016 at 4:36 PM

I want to watch Trump rip her to pieces, I hate her.

48 VOTE!!!!! September 26, 2016 at 4:37 PM

Get out there on voting day. It is your duty. Don’t let other people determine YOUR and your children’s future.

49 KJ September 26, 2016 at 4:45 PM

No. We haven’t had decent political debates since the League of Women Voters stopped running them.

The fact that we’re going to have to endure one of them as president is nauseating!

50 Laura Zah September 26, 2016 at 4:46 PM

@ Old Teacher –
ALL the news is on FOX.
It’s those other networks that won’t show you certain stories that don’t favor their partisan viewpoint. Don’t take my word for it. Watch & see for yourself. I know… you won”t. Ignorance is bliss.

51 Elwood September 26, 2016 at 4:49 PM

Wouldn’t miss it for the world.

I can’t wait to see Hillary’s head explode on live TV!

Or maybe she’ll shed her skin and reveal that she really is a demon!

52 Atticus Thraxx September 26, 2016 at 4:58 PM

Rather chew on some aluminum foil and wash it down with boiling ammonia.

53 Zardoz September 26, 2016 at 5:17 PM

Just an observation but it’s funny how some of the most vocal conservative posters are no going to view the most important debate of this election.
Will they actually be going to the polls?

54 Mrs. Z September 26, 2016 at 5:41 PM

Debate between 2 idiots? No. I just watched a FLEA FLICKER on Monday Night Freaking Football! I’ll see all I need to of the debate tomorrow, thank you.

55 @Old Teacher September 26, 2016 at 6:12 PM

Days have changed since either of us were in a classroom.

This new generation has the attention span of a gnat and most are uncaring self absorbed narcissists. These days democrats are about hollow promises.

As proof, what has the current democrat president, who had the most unique opportunity in the history of this country, done to make a difference in the lives of young black men and women.

Here is what he did
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccb-cwSFjP0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUSRZo1BE5o
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9ixOsjut3E

“In order for the Democrats to win the White House they don’t have to get 50 percent of the black vote or 60, or 70, or 80, or 90, Democrats in order to win historically need 90 to 92 percent of the black vote. If only 70 percent don’t like Donald Trump, that means 30 percent are open to his argument. If he gets half of those, he’s president.”

Let this sink in slowly. Ensuring that Democrats continue to receive black votes in a monolithic block, it is in their interest for blacks to remain poor and resentful, which is why agitators like Jones work overtime to keep racism alive and boiling. If blacks in larger numbers entered the middle class, more of them would likely start voting Republican. ”

56 Mrs. Z September 26, 2016 at 6:30 PM

@Teacherman…. we have until November. We will see every bit of this debate on the news and Internet. We will hear it on the radio. We are educated, but we don’t have to see things live. Our choices are poor at best this election year anyway.

57 Vandy September 26, 2016 at 6:49 PM

Trump is not very smart. I can’t believe that he’s the best thing the GOP can produce.

58 Monica September 26, 2016 at 6:51 PM

Deplorable Lives Matter no matter debate results.Voting Trump, sorry libs.

59 WC Citizen September 26, 2016 at 7:47 PM

One candidate has had a lifetime of public service. From state to national to international roles this candidate has had more than 30 years of working for our democracy while constantly being criticized by those in the opposite party. This candidate is well educated and knows how to work within the public sector. The biggest challenge in my opinion is that the candidate has had so much hatred against her that the efforts to bring change have been stymied by those opposed to her party and her no matter what is proposed.

The other candidate has led a lifetime of trying to appear important. Plastering his name on anything he can, purchasing pictures of himself (multiple times) and hanging them in public locations. While claiming to be a great business person, this candidate has filed for bankruptcy multiple times (the ultimate form of welfare – “let me buy way more than I can afford and then let me state that I can’t pay for it so let’s ask the government to step in and say I don’t have to pay”). This candidate also believes that he doesn’t have to be transparent in his financial obligations as every other Presidential candidate for the last 40 years. This candidate repeatedly been caught in lies, changes his stories, has overtly suggested that 2nd amendment defenders might “have something to say” if Hillary were elected, has derided entire ethnicities and religions. It appears he is without a working moral compass – something that I thought fellow Americans believed important when selecting a President.

The debates may let us see a glimpse of the candidates’ policies but what we have learned about the candidates through this long process makes it difficult to select Trump.

60 Laura Zah September 26, 2016 at 8:22 PM

@ Vandy –
Trump is not very smart?
How many Billions of dollars are you worth?

61 Dr. Jellyfinger September 26, 2016 at 8:30 PM

Well…. the old crone didn’t drop. Nobody won the pool, but we had a backup plan in place.
Our pal Dr. Pahip Samir is in Vegas for an OBGYN Convention & he’s headed over to the MGM Grand right now to the first Roulette table he sees with orders to put the whole pot on double 00 to be split or lost by us all. Spin it!

62 Mountainside Jay September 26, 2016 at 8:35 PM

Well, there you have it. She whipped him backwards and forwards. The guy isn’t worthy of shining shoes let alone pretending to be presidential.

63 Mountainside Jay September 26, 2016 at 8:37 PM

@ Laura Zah

Trump isn’t worth billions. He’s broke. He’s a total failure and con-man. If he wants to prove otherwise, he’s welcome to show us his tax returns.

64 94521 September 26, 2016 at 8:44 PM

Hillary won this debate by a landslide. Trump continually took sips of water, appeared nervous, and interrupted Clinton and the moderator on numerous occasions. He rambled on and on and on and was clearly not prepared for this night on stage.

65 Always Right September 26, 2016 at 9:17 PM

The moderator was completely biased. Softball questions to Hillary and bogus fact challenges to Trump.

In spite of that (Neo) Trump did a very good job battling with (the Matrix) Hillary.

Trump lived to fight another day, and he will only get stronger.

66 Elwood September 26, 2016 at 9:20 PM

I wonder how many and what kinds of meds Hillary was on tonight?

Something for the cough, something for the convulsive head movements, something for the uncontrolled eye movements and something to keep her on her feet.

67 Scoots September 26, 2016 at 9:30 PM

I thought Trump was the clear winner. Fact check will reveal Hillary wrong at least twice.

Trump dominated debate.

68 Wingie #1 September 26, 2016 at 9:36 PM

@ WC Citizen # 60 – Name one specific, productive thing Hillary accomplished in the past 30 years. I’ll just sit here & wait.

69 Dave September 26, 2016 at 9:38 PM

Scoots, really? I can’t stand Hillary, but she mopped the floor with him.

70 @Elwood September 26, 2016 at 10:18 PM

Elwood, perhaps Trump should visit Clinton’s doctor. He needs some of whatever she’s taking. He sniffled, grimaced, sighed, gulped water, appeared annoyed and flustered, had a difficult time forming coherent arguments, and looked worn out by the end of the debate. Clinton, on the other hand, looked and sounded great.

71 Amy September 26, 2016 at 10:22 PM

Lester Holt is a left wing hack and he did the same thing as that fat slob Candy Crowley did in the Obozo/Romney debate. I hope the conservative “fact checkers” speak out tomorrow.

72 WC Citizen September 26, 2016 at 10:38 PM

@wingie #1
here we go, just a few for you…

1. facilitating a joint effort with China, Russia and the EU to place enough unified pressure on Iran to finally get a negotiated deal completed. 2. restoring credibility with the EU after George W.’s time in office. Domestically George W may have been popular but not so much internationally. 3. as first lady, she worked with legislators to bring healthcare to low-income families with children (children’s health insurance program). 4. brought attention to Gulf War Syndrome as early as 1995 to support our troops after they served our country honorably in the first Gulf War. 5. As a Senator served on the budget, armed services and other committees. There’s certainly more and I’m not on the payroll nor a lobbyist for Clinton. I’m looking at two people for President – one has served our country honorably and one is self serving with seemingly no thoughts beyond what makes him look good. If you’d like to share what Donald Trump has done for our country – I’d like to hear that too.

73 Vandy September 26, 2016 at 10:58 PM

The sad thing is that many Americans think that Trump is smart simply because he has money, no matter how he got it. His money was handed to him from his parents, poorly managed, and used to manipulate and subjugate the less fortunate who have dealt with him. He would have more money now if he simply invested his parents’ money with a good investment manager. He screwed over so many people to maintain his meager returns. But the bottom line is that he is morally bankrupt. His legal bankruptcies are only symbolic, an analogue for his lack of character.

74 Dogamatic September 26, 2016 at 11:00 PM

No, got some tennis ballls to chase.

i think i just peed a lil from your comment i guffawed so hard

77 js September 27, 2016 at 7:55 AM

I watched the debate last nite….and know who I am voting for…Hillary…
trump at first was ok on his answers..then got upset….and from them on
seemed to go down hill….can you imagine a person like trump running our country…to the ground…we will be the laughing stock of the world if he gets in and am worried if he does get in….with his mouth may one day be in a war
an at the end of the debate….all people were handshaking with hillary…while
trumps slinked out with his family and went away…no one wanted to shake his hand.ha.

78 Pyrrhus September 27, 2016 at 9:30 AM

As someone that isn’t voting for either of the candidates in November, Trump came off as unprepared and easily unhinged. While I don’t trust Hillary, (I feel she’ll say whatever will get her elected), she at least look composed and presidential. That type of demeanor is who we want negotiating with other leaders, not someone that will throw a temper tantrum.

I wish we had better candidates, even the 3rd party candidates don’t impress me very much.

79 Silva September 27, 2016 at 10:17 AM

If you don’t vote you will get who you deserve, and still probably complain very loudly.

The outcome was a given, but the show did not disappoint.

80 Amazed September 27, 2016 at 7:02 PM

@73 Thank you, WC Citizen, for your cogent comments.

Trump’s career and political life have been nothing short of disgraceful. His supporters continue to hammer at the notion that Hillary is a liar, yet his debate was riddled with one absolute, verifiable lie after another. His off-the-cuff lunacy, ignorance of policy and constitutional matters, inability or unwillingness to listen, buffoonish bluster, unbelievable dismissal of women and African-Americans — my God, it was a shameful performance. And, um, what was going on with all the sniffling? He seems unhealthy.

81 Family Guy September 28, 2016 at 12:24 PM

I watched the debate and turned it into a drinking game. Every time either of them lies, I took a drink.
Since Trump lies constantly, I was drunk half way through.

Hillary whooped him. Even though I don’t like her she has my vote.
He is too dangerous to be president.

82 No Ma'am September 29, 2016 at 11:01 AM

The debates were rigged it was obvious unless you’ve never played poker.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovN-oSw54EU

83 Amazed September 30, 2016 at 7:47 AM

There was no need to rig the debate (and, anyway, it WASN’T rigged). All Hillary had to do, besides being incredibly prepared, was sit back and let psycho Trump self-destruct. In his warped mind, a contest must be rigged if he’s not winning it.

84 D. Trump September 30, 2016 at 9:04 AM

I wonder what the story would be if I had someone feeding me the answers to every question?
