This town is going to crap!

It's Where ? September 24, 2016 at 10:04 PM

Believe it is under BART tracks at West end of Cowell Road.

Steve September 24, 2016 at 10:05 PM

Heard the shots right outside my window… 5-6 shots and two cars spinning off.

I need to move out of this town.

FragileX mom September 24, 2016 at 10:13 PM

Wilford Brimley September 24, 2016 at 10:28 PM

NoMoreFreeRide September 24, 2016 at 10:40 PM

1 Block from the police station. They have no fear what does that tell you CPD?

B.Farnsworth September 24, 2016 at 11:24 PM

Alamo seems like a nice place to live. Too bad it’s a little (by which i mean way) out of my price range.

George September 24, 2016 at 11:48 PM

Just 2 nights ago 2 people were shot in their home 8 blocks away and now this shooting! WOW this area never used to be this way.

SKKR SKKR September 25, 2016 at 12:21 AM

Dont be looking for trouble. Come back and bite you in the ass. SKKR SKKR!!!

Hmmmm September 25, 2016 at 12:23 AM

#2 – “This town in going to crap?”

Ummmm……. it’s Concord. It’s been crap for 30 years now.

Amy September 25, 2016 at 1:00 AM

We’re there any cameras in the area? Maybe in the BART lot or by the skate park?

Jen September 25, 2016 at 7:09 AM

I heard the shots last night. At least five rapid and distinctive shots. Sounded like it was coming from Monument / 7-Eleven direction. I look forward to the day these idiots realize they are only a spec on a spec of a planet that I revolves around a spec of a sun, then realize all our works is all we have. I am sure trying to kill others does not earn brownie points. Get a life and do something positive.

ManBearPig September 25, 2016 at 7:54 AM

Some people are too stupid to think about their actions. I seriously doubt they cared about whether they were just down the street or 100 miles from their nearest police station.

TIFOKCIS September 25, 2016 at 8:07 AM

I hope all law abiding humans are okay.

Families First September 25, 2016 at 8:11 AM

My son has soccer practice at Krueger Fields just up the street. No matter what time of day, Concord is the pits. Simply unbelievable.

mrs. cleaver September 25, 2016 at 8:38 AM

coffee donuts and many slugs it’s no mystery why we have so many violent crimes in a small area . whether you live near crystal ranch or meadow your either living with them or right up the street from whats become the new new frontier ….THE WILD WILD WEST IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE infested with rodents ! if you can’t take the heat ,get out the kitchen !

fyi – the shooting on bella isn’t a coincidence

Anon September 25, 2016 at 8:40 AM

Wow, right by the Police station. These punks are getting ballsy! What does that tell you CPD. Time to move!! Some day there will be a movie called Monument Blvd about da life.

Dr. Jellyfinger September 25, 2016 at 8:55 AM

It tells me they don’t know where the Police Station is.

TIFOKCIS September 25, 2016 at 8:58 AM

Bask in the progression you demanded and LOVE LOVE the diversity.

Before the tennis courts were at CHS my buddy and I were on our way to cut across the field to his house. I remember a pick up truck with a rifle rack and three rifles, windows down no one in sight. Oh those horrible days of rednecks and hicks.

Soak it up people I hear cold water help remove blood stains.

Think McFly September 25, 2016 at 9:36 AM

Concord turning to crap? Don’t know where you guys live, shop and hangout but we have a great big house, an acre if property, great neighborhood and we go out all the time in this whole area with no fear of anything going in around here.
Now for those of you living in bay point, Pittsburg and Antioch…haha you get what you probably deserve with crime and traffic to and from your job 30+ mile commutes from hell. I love it here…

Cellophane September 25, 2016 at 9:47 AM

Drug deals, gang wars, criminals walk free while liberals handcuff the police and make crimes unpunishable.

KJ September 25, 2016 at 12:23 PM

Cellophane @23 — “… liberals handcuff the police and make crimes unpunishable.” How do you figure that? The US has more people in jails and prisons than any other country in the world. How much are you willing to pay to lock up even more people? All I ever hear from conservatives is that taxes are already too high, so it could be argued that penny-pinching, austerity-loving conservatives are the problem.

As for the police being”handcuffed” — given the number of people who have been killed by police in the US it sure doesn’t seem they are being constrained by “liberals” or anyone else.

Pleasant Hill Mom September 25, 2016 at 12:51 PM

Watch it—-Now, don’t go saying anything bad about thugv—I mean anything bad about beautiful, respectful, safe, friendly and kind, Golden Rule Concord. Oh, the mom is so proud. It’s a noteworthy baby book milestone. “Here’s a picture of little Teddy, high as hell on God knows what, shooting his stolen gun at his 1st drive by shooting victim.” smh

Turn and burn September 25, 2016 at 1:55 PM

@ cellophane well it didn’t take to long for someone to say how the police are out there killing everyone.

Dennis September 25, 2016 at 2:04 PM

@KJ your math is bizarre. Let’s start again.

The USA has more violent criminals on the streets committing crimes than anywhere else in the world. Of course there are more cop-criminal interactions, a tiny percentage of which involve shootings. Of course there are more in prison … because they belong there.

Irrefutable facts: 19/20 of violent crimes in the USA are committed by those with a prior criminal history and involved with drugs/gangs. Prior criminal history means we had them locked up, and you let them go.

“According to the Uniform Crime Report for 2009, among people 18 or younger, blacks were charged with 58 percent of murder and non-negligent manslaughter, 67 percent of robberies, 42 percent of aggravated assaults and 43 percent of auto thefts. As for murder, more than 90 percent of the time, their victims were black”. – Walter E. Williams

Put the violent criminals in prison and never let them out. You eliminate 19/20 of all violent crimes. Why won’t Liberals do that? Because they whine that it is better to spend $30 BILLION to construct a mythical High Speed Rail which will not be operational for AT LEAST 30 YEARS, instead of taking $1B/yr to permanently quarantine/warehouse career criminals.

And when thy are locked up, they can’t vote for the Liberals.

So you tell us, KJ, exactly how much it costs us to NOT keep them locked up. Here’s a sample of crimes committed by each year’s ‘alumni’ from prisons.

Put a dollar value on these crimes, committed because you refused to keep the criminals locked up:

“A 2002 U.S. Justice Department study of 272,111 felons Released from state prisons in 1994 found that within Three years of their release:

• at least 67.5% had been arrested for committing a new offense
• at least 21.6% had been arrested for committing a new violent offense

• these former inmates had been charged with committing at least
2,871 new homicides,
2,444 new rapes,
3,151 other new sexual assaults,
2,362 new kidnappings,
21,245 new robberies,
54,604 new assaults,
And 13,854 other new violent crimes.”

Tell us, KJ, how much those crimes cost us.

@22 Think McFly September 25, 2016 at 2:08 PM

Haha what a jerk

mrs. cleaver September 25, 2016 at 2:29 PM

hey everyone we’re all moving to Think McFly’S safe CONCORD street it’s one of the last one’s left . must have a strong force field around it to keep out the 500 transient tweaker bums we have living here .

Cellophane September 25, 2016 at 2:38 PM

@ # 26, Sadly, I doubt there is anyway a sane person would be able to enlighten KJ. He has decided he is correct and everyone else is wrong and that there are no other ideas worth considering but his own.

Better to let that dog lie.

ANON September 25, 2016 at 2:45 PM

Location of the PD means nothing..most if not all are on the road — if any are in the dept. – the bad guys will be gone before they get out of the parking lot

Cellophane September 25, 2016 at 3:06 PM

@ # 27, great comments Dennis. I fear your argument is falling on deaf ears. Uber liberal bleeding hearts like KJ are able to concentrate on one and only one agenda, their own as supplied by the Central Party Headquarters.

Not unlike the hobnailed boots of the Nazi’s and the cowardly terrorism of the Muslims, KJ had decided that his path is the only path. Such is the Liberal way.

Fed up September 25, 2016 at 5:15 PM

Ghee, I was down at Denkinger Chevron last Friday evening wanting to fill up on my home from work and some tweak was ripping outcall their plants a d shrubs having some sort of a fit. No shirt on at 1:00 a.m., just angry, smoking his cigarette ripping up their garden. I was scared so I left. CPD busy at Concord and Bailey and on Clayton. Go to She’ll at Clayton and Ygnacio, at least only homeless going through garbage there. I think Concord no better or worse than the rest any more.

Grewah September 25, 2016 at 6:44 PM

@22 You must live in a different neighborhood than most of us. I have a big lot but no acre. You up in the hills maybe. Don’t worry. This will get to you sooner or later. Most likely sooner. If you were being sarcastic, sorry I didn’t read it that way

Bob September 25, 2016 at 6:55 PM

Tired yet? This is not a political issue, this is a safety issue. Indifference on the part of our citizenry is planned on by our elected officials. They measure the the amount of discourse on the topic then act accordingly. When enough of us have been directly effected by the violence in this city maybe something will change.. Right know the criminal element in Concord is a protected class.
Law enforcement is unmotivated/unsupported regarding proactive enforcement. The criminals know it, the homeless who gravitate to Concord know it, the cities that surround us knows it. Oh by the way, I was told that John Muir Hospital is opening an emergency psychiatric hospital at the Mt. Diablo campus in CONCORD! I wonder why it’s not being located at the Walnut Creek campus….Sorry WC but it’s a good question……..

Amy September 25, 2016 at 7:50 PM

Email The City Council members regarding tolerating gangs in Concord.

JA September 26, 2016 at 7:51 AM

@Dennis, I thought the Donald said that so many murderers and rapists were flooding in from Mexico that we needed to build a wall. Wouldn’t that make Mexico the country with a higher crime rate? You quote Walter Williams a fanatic free market libertarian who advocates for less public assistance for the poor while arguing for people’s rights to sell their own body parts!

Bob September 26, 2016 at 9:52 AM

#22 I am happy to find that you are completely at peace in your surroundings here in Concord. My I suggest you re-evaluate your position on being un-effected by crime and violence in Concord, take into account that you chose to read the above story and comment on it….

Think McFly September 26, 2016 at 4:58 PM

@Bob #38

Sure I read a lot of subjects on here and comment on a lot if them, just because this post mentioned shots fired didn’t immediately draw my attention to it thinking OMG I need to give input on it. BFD some shots were fired.. I heard shots the other night, didn’t rush out to see what it was cause I figured it was one of our rancher neighbors scaring off “let’s call it a mountain lion” lol
We aren’t worried about our area becoming crap as that will never happen, but it doesn’t keep us from doing business with areas that people call bad in Concord.
Like I’ve said in the past people need to grow some balls and keep their neighborhoods clean and “thug” free, don’t expect the city govt and police to do it for you.

Bob September 26, 2016 at 8:59 PM

#40 Ooohhh now I get it, thanks for clearing that up for us. Be safe out there……

bosome September 26, 2016 at 9:37 PM

Couldn’t agree with fly-man anymore that that, you cannot believe the Government or Police now-days will help a citizen or neighborhood with cleaning up the trashy neighborhoods any longer (OK they suggest starting a neighborhood watch just for that exact reason because the Police just cant handle the territory with reduced workforce’s). I just read over on FB that the CCC Sheriff department told some people over in Martinez that they wont arrest a local juvenile for breaking and entering and theft because juvenile hall is full…Now that pretty much sums it up around here I would say.
