This post is “Talk About Politics”.

Please use this post to talk about politics, and keep politics out of the “whatever” thread.

Thank you, and be kind to each other.

201 Fox News Making America Great September 28, 2016 at 3:50 PM

A memo from Fox News vice president of public-opinion research Dana Blanton has since been acquired by Business Insider, in which the VP tells the hosts to stop citing these misleading polls.

“As most of the publications themselves clearly state, the sample obviously can’t be representative of the electorate because they only reflect the views of those Internet users who have chosen to participate,” Blanton wrote. “Another problem — we know some campaigns/groups of supporters encourage people to vote in online polls and flood the results… These quickie click items do not meet our editorial standards.”

“News networks and other organizations go to great effort and rigor to conduct scientific polls — for good reason,” Blanton continued. “They know quick vote items posted on the web are nonsense, not true measures of public opinion.”

Democrats lazily assumed that they own the black vote and that blacks will always turn out at the historic level of Obama. The truth is that Hillary Clinton is a disgusting unappealing person, period. I can’t see any way that this should be less true for blacks than for other groups.

To kill Donald Trump’s chances of capturing the White House, Hillary Clinton needs to win Florida. And to do that, she needs a big minority turnout.

Democrats are beginning to worry that too many African-American voters are not as stupid as they thought and are uninspired by Clinton’s candidacy, leading her campaign to hit the panic button this week and launch an all-out blitz to juice-up voter enthusiasm.

Watch the race baiting now.

For some reason that no Democrat understands, a haughty rich white woman is having difficulty igniting turnout fever among African-American voters, especially in Florida.

@JWB#203:

I think you missed a few points including what the numbers are. The Sensible Estate Tax Act of 2016, yes that’s what it called, lists a $3.5 million exemption. But just as Bill claims he did not inhale, and Hillary says she landed under sniper fire in Afghanistan, this estate exemption will likely get pushed down so even a small inheritance will be taxed.

I did notice with interest your contempt for his family. I think this is where political views differ. Knowing absolutely nothing else about his kids, you show contempt because the family has money. It kind of points to the progressive agenda where the government is the most important unit in our society, in contrast to the republican agenda where family is the more important unit. Don’t forget to put V.P. Biden and the local D.M.V. clerks on the top of your Christmas shopping list.

A new national poll shows that Hillary Clinton is currently leading Donald Trump. The Ipsos/Reuters poll has Clinton leading Trump 44 percent to 36 percent among registered voters. When the field is narrowed to likely voters, Trump gains two percentage points, but Clinton stays firm at 44 percent

222 Bad New for The Cheeto September 28, 2016 at 5:56 PM

Donald Trump’s biggest effect on the GOP has, so far, causing unprecedented numbers of Republican officials to defect and support the Democratic nominee. Yet another GOP official has released plans to endorse the former secretary of state on Tuesday.

Sen. John Warner of Virginia, who was once famously married to the actress and legend, Elizabeth Taylor, is quite popular in his home state of Virginia and has excellent military credentials. Warner is a World War II veteran, former U.S. Navy secretary, and former chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He also enjoyed a 72-percent approval rating from voters when he left office in 2009.

223 anon September 28, 2016 at 6:00 PM

Just one day after Donald Trump’s disastrous performance at the first presidential debate, another bombshell is dropped on his campaign, forcing the ‘resignation’ of one of his campaign directors.

As it turns out, the “law and order candidate” does absolutely nothing to vet the people he employs within his campaign. Trump’s Georgia campaign director, Brandon Phillips, has just been exposed as a violent psychotic with an insane rap sheet that includes inflicting bodily harm on another.

227 JWB September 28, 2016 at 6:21 PM

@ FSM #217

I missed what the numbers are? So your message #197 didn’t mean the Clinton Estate Tax Plan, but rather the he Sensible Estate Tax Act of 2016?

There is no 50% tax rate in the he Sensible Estate Tax Act of 2016. The Clinton Plan proposes that a 50% rate applies to estates worth over $10 million per person, 55% for estates over $50 million, and 65% for estates exceeding $500 million, maybe she also has the 45% rate for the amount above $3.5 million. But even under that calculation in order to reach the 50% taxation the Estate has to be roughly $100 million.

I don’t know why would call it contempt for the Adams family, if I fail to cry a river because the estate to his ex-wife’s kids would be taxed at 50% and they would only end up with about $25 million.

Why do you think these kids should go tax free on their windfall because their mother has been married for a few years with a wealthy guy, but any other kids who get educated and work hard should be taxed on his or her income?

Do I notice contempt from you for hard working productive members of society? Oops I understand your view is smart folks don’t pay taxes only dumb ones do.

Trump doesn’t pay people when they do work for him claiming the work was inferior. If we aren’t happy with the government’s work should we not pay all of our taxes just some of them? You know that’s smart.

232 JWB September 28, 2016 at 8:10 PM

@ FSM

Well why does the government deserve any money? Maybe because the government provides services? Do you think soldiers should volunteer their time and pay for their own equipment and costs? I think we both can agree that there needs to be a way to raise revenue for the government. Where we disagree is who should be paying for it. I understand you think trust fund kids should get a break from paying for these services. I say hard working productive members of society should get that break and not kids from wealthy individuals.

As a matter of fact you dismissed my views as “contempt for families”. I think I can live with that label if it makes you happy. I do know that I’m in fairly good company with my views, and no they are not all looney liberals.

Do other races murder one another in this country? Not that I’m aware of.
So what are we to think? What should we do?
The race baiters like that extortionist All Sharpton steals a lot of money from business by threatening mass protests and faux lawsuit for alleged racist behavior claiming that not enough blacks work there. He will then promise not to start trouble if the business proves they’re not racist by making a large donation to his cause. Clearly this so called “black leader” doesn’t think black lives matter much unless there’s a profit to be made.

WASHINGTON, DC – JULY 07: FBI Director James Comey testifies during a hearing before House Oversight and Government Reform Committee July 7, 2016 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The committee held a hearing “Oversight of the State Department,” focusing on the FBI’s recommendation not to prosecute Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for maintaining a private email server during her time as Secretary of State. (Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images)
FBI director received millions from Clinton Foundation, his brother’s law firm does Clinton’s taxes

noblehuman September 26, 2016 US News 8
A review of FBI Director James Comey’s professional history and relationships shows that the Obama cabinet leader — now under fire for his handling of the investigation of Hillary Clinton — is deeply entrenched in the big-money cronyism culture of Washington, D.C. His personal and professional relationships — all undisclosed as he announced the Bureau would not prosecute Clinton — reinforce bipartisan concerns that he may have politicized the criminal probe.

These concerns focus on millions of dollars that Comey accepted from a Clinton Foundation defense contractor, Comey’s former membership on a Clinton Foundation corporate partner’s board, and his surprising financial relationship with his brother Peter Comey, who works at the law firm that does the Clinton Foundation’s taxes.

Lockheed Martin

When President Obama nominated Comey to become FBI director in 2013, Comey promised the United States Senate that he would recuse himself on all cases involving former employers.

But Comey earned $6 million in one year alone from Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin became a Clinton Foundation donor that very year.

Comey served as deputy attorney general under John Ashcroft for two years of the Bush administration. When he left the Bush administration, he went directly to Lockheed Martin and became vice president, acting as a general counsel.

How much money did James Comey make from Lockheed Martin in his last year with the company, which he left in 2010? More than $6 million in compensation.

Lockheed Martin is a Clinton Foundation donor. The company admitted to becoming a Clinton Global Initiative member in 2010.

According to records, Lockheed Martin is also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, which paid Bill Clinton $250,000 to deliver a speech in 2010.

In 2010, Lockheed Martin won 17 approvals for private contracts from the Hillary Clinton State Department.

HSBC Holdings

In 2013, Comey became a board member, a director, and a Financial System Vulnerabilities Committee member of the London bank HSBC Holdings.

“Mr. Comey’s appointment will be for an initial three-year term which, subject to re-election by shareholders, will expire at the conclusion of the 2016 Annual General Meeting,” according to HSBC company records.

HSBC Holdings and its various philanthropic branches routinely partner with the Clinton Foundation. For instance, HSBC Holdings has partnered with Deutsche Bank through the Clinton Foundation to “retrofit 1,500 to 2,500 housing units, primarily in the low- to moderate-income sector” in “New York City.”

“Retrofitting” refers to a Green initiative to conserve energy in commercial housing units. Clinton Foundation records show that the Foundation projected “$1 billion in financing” for this Green initiative to conserve people’s energy in low-income housing units.

Who Is Peter Comey?

When our source called the Chinatown offices of D.C. law firm DLA Piper and asked for “Peter Comey,” a receptionist immediately put him through to Comey’s direct line. But Peter Comey is not featured on the DLA Piper website.

Peter Comey serves as “Senior Director of Real Estate Operations for the Americas” for DLA Piper. James Comey was not questioned about his relationship with Peter Comey in his confirmation hearing.

DLA Piper is the firm that performed the independent audit of the Clinton Foundation in November during Clinton-World’s first big push to put the email scandal behind them. DLA Piper’s employees taken as a whole represent a major Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign donation bloc and Clinton Foundation donation base.

DLA Piper ranks #5 on Hillary Clinton’s all-time career Top Contributors list, just ahead of Goldman Sachs.

And here is another thing: Peter Comey has a mortgage on his house that is owned by his brother James Comey, the FBI director.

Peter Comey’s financial records, obtained by Breitbart News, show that he bought a $950,000 house in Vienna, Virginia, in June 2008. He needed a $712,500 mortgage from First Savings Mortgage Corporation.

But on January 31, 2011, James Comey and his wife stepped in to become Private Party lenders. They granted a mortgage on the house for $711,000. Financial records suggest that Peter Comey took out two such mortgages from his brother that day.

This financial relationship between the Comey brothers began prior to James Comey’s nomination to become director of the FBI.

DLA Piper did not answer any question as to whether James Comey and Peter Comey spoke at any point about this mortgage or anything else during the Clinton email investigation.

This needs to be seen by all:

Lead FBI agent John Giacalone abruptly resigned in the middle of the investigation in February 2016.
pay-for-play involving the Clinton Foundation were not properly vetted, ultimately white washed
FBI agents were blocked from serving search warrants to retrieve key evidence
FBI agents were not allowed to interrogate witnesses and targets without warning
FBI agents had been trying to interview Clinton since December 2015, approval delayed by top brass
FBI agents believed Clinton case was being “slow-walked” to run-out-the-clock
FBI agents stunned that targets Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson were permitted to sit in on Hillary Clinton’s FBI interview.
Clinton and aides cited amnesia. In Clinton’s case she claimed due to medical complications.
Attempts to secure Clinton’s medical records to confirm her head injury were sabotaged by FBI Director James Comey

FBI Director: We found no evidence of intent

FBI Docs: IT employee labeled his work “Hillary coverup operation

247 JWB September 29, 2016 at 10:34 AM

@ FSM

No real suprise, because you seem to have no arguements you resort to labels such as “standard democrat tactics” or “communist redistribution “.

If it makes you happy feel free to call government services a form “communist redistribution” but keep this in mind when you drive on the roads or sleep at night knowing the military or the police of the fire department is protecting you. Also keep this in mind when you cash your social security check or see your doctor on medicare …..

I love your arguement that if an individual would not be taxed that it would not have an impact on government services. Have you tried this with the IRS? I think the same would be true if you just walked out of a store without paying for your goods. Thinking that this would have an impact on Safeway’s business and profits is, using your words “Just exaggeration.” so why should they expect that you pay for it?

248 FlyingSpaghettiMonster September 29, 2016 at 11:25 AM

@JWB#255:

That is confusing. What I recall is that I mentioned some data and proposals from the DNC and Hillary, and then Adam’s point of asking questions such as why you think the government has an ownership claim on that family’s assets, especially since they have been taxed already once on it. I don’t recall arguing. Additionally, this is not the 1950s and having your political views compared to Marxism is not negative. I read a wide range of material and one of my favorites is the Marxist economist Kalecki. I fail to see why that is such a hot button for you, but you have strong beliefs that wealth redistribution is “good” in some way and with no particular reason you just come down to supporting it “because.” I think you are in denial.

There is too much material here to address so I’ll skip to the Safeway example. Your analogy for Safeway is not consistent with your views. To correct the analogy, Safeway customers in your view should be charged different amounts for the same item depending on their wealth and income. So one person would be buying apples for $1.50 per pound at Safeway, while the next person is charged $5 per pound after showing his banking statement to the cashier.

I think your frustration is just the cognitive dissonance that your economic beliefs just do not conform to what you believe is the current social norm. The inconsistency is the issue.

I’ll show you a better way to generate an argument. The $3.5 million is in my opinion too low in that even lucky purchasers of Bay Area property from 20 years ago will be nailed for what’s being argued as a billionaire’s tax. However, I do believe there should be a level at which point an estate tax should kick in. Its a question of the danger to democracy and healthy social influence when people can buy votes and influence from politicians. The Koch brothers, Zuckerberg, and others should not have a disproportionate influence in a democracy just because for example one was lucky enough to code up (or steal) some software at the right time in college. But that is an argument for a healthy democracy, and not “because.”

249 Question Man September 29, 2016 at 11:40 AM

Did anyone here notice any crackling or faults from the Trump debate microphone ?
I watched the whole thing and there was no intermittent problems.

?????

250 JWB September 29, 2016 at 11:49 AM

@ FSM

The Safeway example is to your arguement that even if the Adams kids inheritance doesn’t get taxed services provided by the government would not be impacted same as Safeway would not be impacted if a particular person did pay for their goods or not.

Your arguement of “been taxed already once on it” is just a talking point. Because if I earn money I will get taxed and if I use that money to pay somebody to provide a service for me, that money paid by me and already taxed will be income to that service provider and taxed again.

And here is your Safeway example one person would be buying apples for $1.50 per pound at Safeway, while the next person is charged nothing after explaining to the cashier that his money was not earned though work but was given to him by his father.

251 FlyingSpaghettiMonster September 29, 2016 at 12:15 PM

@JWB#258:

First paragraph: No, because Safeway is not a government and cannot issue its own currency and non-defaultable debt. Whether they collect taxes from Mr. Adams has little to do with the amount or items the federal government buys.

Second paragraph: No, your purchase from your taxed income is not a tax to you again, it is a tax to the other person.

Third paragraph: Again, your idea that the government is the primary unit in society comes across. Many others, especially Republicans, would like to think the government works for us. They provide a service we pay for. The government does not own us and does not have a claim on our family’s wealth, and should not be telling us what religion to belong to, or where to go on vacation or what we can or cannot read.

252 Marco Rubio Ready to Step Up When Trump Steps Down September 29, 2016 at 1:30 PM

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said Donald Trump will have to “answer some questions” about a Newsweek story reporting that a Trump-owned company allegedly violated the United States’ trade embargo with Cuba in the late 1990s.

“This is something they’re going to have to give a response to. I mean, it was a violation of American law, if that’s how it happened,” Rubio said on the ESPN/ABC “Capital Games” podcast.

The report says the Trump-owned company secretly conducted business on the island under Fidel Castro’s communist regime.

253 JWB September 29, 2016 at 2:33 PM

Sounds good FSM so the Estate Tax will not tax the Adams kids, and Scott will not be harmed by it as long as he stays alive. He should file his complaint when he gets harmed by it.

The rest I guess you will enjoy your vacation in Cuba …. because your government cannot tell you where to go on vaccation. And doesn’t the Republican candidate if elected propose an ideological screening test for Muslims? I guess you meant to say that our government should not telling us what religion to belong to, as long as it is not Islam?

254 PandoraHD September 29, 2016 at 2:45 PM

Democrats are importing hundreds of thousands Muslims every day, who by religious beliefs are intolerant of gays and punish them by death. So who do you think the Democratic party will support? Gay Americans or non-citizen Muslims?

255 FlyingSpaghettiMonster September 29, 2016 at 3:31 PM

@JWB#261:

A refugee applying to move here from Syria is not an American citizen and should not be covered by the US Constitution. His approval to move here should be considered a privilege, and not a right. In fact a problem does exist with the threats and events of Islamic terrorism in the US in addition to some extreme cultural conflicts Europe has experienced. The political correctness reverse discrimination kind of fails here, and I agree with Trump that we should suspend this until we figure it out. It sure confuses me. I once knew and liked a Muslim girl who even wore spandex clothes biking to work, but admitted that if she did that in her home country of Pakistan she would possibly be stoned to death. I do not understand that culture. And while she is not a danger, the calls for jihad against the US makes me wonder why Obama is setting large quotas while Trump is saying we need to take a second look. Trump is doing a better job of protecting the US than the guy sworn to protect us.

256 Question Man September 29, 2016 at 4:04 PM

Trump’s business deals, some legal and some perhaps illegal and his admitted tax dodges and his refusal to discuss his tax returns should make people suspicious and wary of someone who lies, and forgets what he says.

Trump’s supporters are being led and lied to but they can’t seem to figure that out or they just don’t care that the man is Unqualified To Be President.

258 THey're Out to Get the Cheeto September 29, 2016 at 5:05 PM

Donald Trump claimed on the campaign trail Wednesday night that Google is somehow colluding with Hillary personally in order to win the election.

He told a cheering crowd of supporters in Waukesha, Wisconsin late in the evening that “Google was suppressing bad news about Hillary Clinton.”

It’s a long debunked theory – and conservatives have been touting it for months. Now Trump is on board with that speculation

What’s interesting is that Trump didn’t back up any sources when he made his claim – but get this – the most recent report citing a supposed “conspiracy” with Google brass came from Sputnik News, a Russian state-owned news agency.

Just two weeks ago SPUTNIK NEWS published a report saying that Google was using their search results to favor Clinton, to win the election. And – conservatives favorite news channel, Breitbart News, linked to the report. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Trump’s campaign CEO just departed Breitbart News and used to be their chairman.

“A wall that brings us together,” the ad continues as Mexican residents and American residents meet up at the wall to chill over some brewskis. “This wall may be small, but it’s going to be huge. You’re welcome, America.”

Sounds like a pretty great plan to us. You hear that over all that sniffling, Trump?

262 No, Donald Trump Didn't Win Post-Debate Polls September 29, 2016 at 5:19 PM

On Tuesday, after a less-than-stellar debate performance, Donald Trump returned to using one of his favorite measurements to mask his missteps on Monday night — the polls.

Except that the post-debate “polls” the GOP nominee and campaign kept touting that he won on social media, at his rally in Florida and in press releases aren’t polls at all. They’re essentially unscientific Internet popularity contests, are not weighted as to what the electorate will actually look like, and have no predictive value. In fact, if you’re worried about voter fraud, in many of these surveys people can vote multiple times and they can easily be rigged by Internet bots.

Many of the results he cited came from very Trump-friendly sites, such as Breitbart News and the Drudge Report. Some of these polls were shared by Trump supporters on reddit, encouraging people to go vote. These were not selective samples with any merit, and in no way could they accurately measure whether the more than 81 million people who tuned in for the debate thought Trump did better than Hillary Clinton.

Even though Fox News repeatedly touted the same results Trump trumpeted on air and online, Business Insider reported that the network’s polling director, Dana Blanton, warned that such polls “do not meet our editorial standards”

“Slim to none Obama had best gauge himself.”

Truth be told, the US has been sued repeatedly. And the sue back on those has been long in coming…

Do we roll over as Obama would have US do, as he and his peeps have done over this bogus (blm) invented win the vote agenda, here now; or do we come to some sort of realization as to the deceit being pushed even before any birth certificate was ever mentioned.

*To get any job at a school of lower or higher learning you must provide your transcripts…Any job.
First the unofficial to even get in the game, and then the stamped official ones. Ask any applicant who gets hired!

Some who lied have been found out and lost their jobs…

And, now how the established media and higher learning vettors have rolled on this issue; and there is a certain doubt that some sort of application as a foreign student didn’t just propel his assent to not only a college degree earned, with some sort of crazy coverup bogusness attached to the top of his citizen class as student, to become even a hand picked establishment President!
Yes, there were votes cast and counted I agree – with a couple questions…

A hand picked gold medalist without much serious testing to boot!

I hope someone at some point perhaps 50 years from now can lend us an ear to the transparency of this simple question…

Now, as everything goes crazy over a binge eating beauty, and a grinning wider candidate, than a “Shinning” movie script acting Jack Nicholson character axe busting a door – “Here’s Johnny”…
Creepy yes, and disturbing so much that I can next to not watch…
So to keep continuing to dupe the dupes masterfully…
(I skipped the scene in the maze in that film) because I don’t like seeing people get hurt on that level!!!

I was glad the kid survived! My friends later told me…
And I hope a similar outcome is coming in this horror election season!

If I have to skip the channel I will…But, I will never leave the country as a born
genuine Native American – God help me and you!

Love,

I’m not sure where you would get the notion that only American citizens would be covered by the Constitution. But that wasn’t even my point. Trump’s proposal of a commission to conduct ideological screening would according to him apply to US citizens like the McCarthy Commission on Un-American Activities.

He did talk about a commission to try to bridge the communications gap with the Muslim community, which the crackpots immediately seized upon as a conspiracy. Gee, wouldn’t it have been nice if Obama had done that with the black community? What a breathtakingly lost opportunity. If Trump does it, it’s McCarthyist conspiracy but if Obama had done it to improve race relations, it could have been his best accomplishment.

Another Trump Twitter tirade demonstrates how thin skinned and lacking in self control he is. Trump’s tweets encouraged voters to watch the sex tape of former Miss Universe Alicia Machado – apparently referring to footage from the Venezuelan version of the Big Brother TV show – and then went on to question if Hillary Clinton had helped Machado gain US citizenship just so she could use Machado against him in the debate. @JWB#281:

So you don’t have a reference to it. As mentioned before, Trump discusses setting up a commission to try to understand this phenomenon, create a communications framework, and reject immigrant applications from those with extremist and potentially violent views. Taking that and turning it into McCarthyism is just spin. One hint for you is that your “proof” is buried half way down an opinion piece.

As I’ve found over and over again, when I try to chase down “facts” that supposedly discredit Trump, they are usually fake. The remarkable strategy is that the democrats use such an avalanche of incorrect or indefensible information that its does create a negative impact on Trump. That’s the intent. Democrats make up in quantity what they lack in quality and are winning voters that way. Its an ugly tactic, but in their defense, the Republicans have been just as nasty in the past so its a tit-for-tat sort of thing.

279 JWB September 30, 2016 at 10:11 AM

@FSM

Of course you don’t see any problem with Trump. So nothing new. Look at all the rubish you state. Your blaming recent Syrian refugees for the terrorist recent terrorist attacks in the US, but ignore the fact that most of them had been conducted by perpetrator born in the US. For example Omar Mateen the Orlando shooter was born in the US. His father immigrated from Afghanistan in the ’80s which was during the Reagan administration, but of course you don’t let this fact get in your way to state:
“Trump is doing a better job of protecting the US than the guy sworn to protect us.’

Again you ignore the job Trump does which is marignalize certain groups which help radicalizing them. So how is doing a better job than the guy sowrn to protect us? And who do you mean by “the guy sowrn to protect us?” Note you use singular and based on the context it is clear that you talk about Obama. So why would you blame for allowning Mateen’s father to immigrate in the ’80s?

And how is Trump doing a good job protecting us from attacks by people aligned with the alt right? I have not heard him say anthing about the recent Houston shooter, who was wearing a Nazi military uniform and had Nazi propaganda in his car.

280 FlyingSpaghettiMonster September 30, 2016 at 11:08 AM

I do not really understand what you are talking about, and neither do you. No where have I blamed recent Syrian refugees for terrorist attacks in the US. What I have mentioned is the potential risk of bringing more refugees from there to the US. It has resulted in terrorism and severe political and cultural issues in Europe and we should learn from it. In Europe, they do have immigrants carrying out attacks, not just people radicalized off the internet. There the politicians led that initiative against many of the people’s wishes, and both are paying the price now.

And to clarify, Trump is trying to raise the alarm about this potential threat. And yes, Obama is the one I am referring to as setting up large quotas of immigrants to bring here. I’m not sure if its an “in your face” to the half or so of Americans who don’t want that, or if its to impress Europe’s leaders. Either way, Trump is trying to protect us, while Obama is putting us at risk. That’s what I mean.

And to your first point, again you are wrong when you say I don’t have a problem with Trump. I do have serious issues with Trump. I am a registered Democrat, but completely and thoroughly disgusted by Hillary. I also like several of Trump’s main platform issues, especially trade and immigration. I suspect many, and possibly you, just vote democrat while on automatic pilot. You do realize the party changed? Take trade. Getting ripped off in international trade deals used to be a democrat issue. The unions and democrats were for tariffs and protection from unethical trade practices because it hurt US workers. But with so much corporate money from Walmart and others going to the democrats so they can outsource and get cheaper products, the democrats sold out and are now the champions of the 1% on that issue. You are getting totally suckered thinking your democrat vote in 2016 is the same as your democrat vote a few presidents ago. You have been suckered into voting for Richard Nixon’s trade policies this time, who like Hillary was against tariffs, and in his words, “…steelmakers who demand tariffs to protect their market share, and dozens of other special interests all seek a guaranteed place at the federal trough.”

281 JWB September 30, 2016 at 12:09 PM

@ FSM

So now you are trying to compare the Syrian refugee situation with the situation in Europe? You do realize that first of all refugees are arriving by the boat loads on the shores in Greece and Italy?

But asside from this again most of the major terroism activity like Paris, Brussels or Nice has not been committed by recent Syrian refugees.

You are getting totally suckered thinking your republican vote in 2016 is the same as your republican vote a few presidents ago, while in truth it is a vote for a nationalist, populist candidate which has nothing to do with republican ideas.

282 FlyingSpaghettiMonster September 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM

@JWB#289:

Paragraph #1: Obama’s plans change over time but I think the last number I saw was he wants more than 100,000 brought here. It makes little difference whether it by boat or jet.

Paragraph #2: Its quite easy to find stories where the terrorists in Europe killing or attacking people were new immigrants.

Paragraph #3: Nationalism is putting your country first, and after eight years of Obama, I think that should be a refreshing change. I cringe at your references to believing potential middle eastern refugees sitting in Syria have US Constitutional rights.

And as an aside, if you haven’t noticed, you are really losing very badly in this discussion. You are not even able to differentiate someone who is a lifetime Republican from someone who is making a difficult choice between two problematic candidates. Saying I don’t have a problem with Trump means you are not keeping up. I recommend you wait for the Politics thread to go through its weekly refresh so you can start anew.

Of course if makes you happy you are winning…… what putz you are.

@JWB#291:

If you look up the latest terrorist, Ahmad Khan Rahami, who set off bombs in New York, he went back and forth multiple times between the US and Pakistan and Afghanistan and he was able to convince the authorities that he was no danger. He is a naturalized citizen, they have all sorts of documentation on him including proof of his travels, and the authorities still got it wrong. The refugees will have no documentation since they are fleeing a war. The authorities are not going to do a better job of vetting people with no identifiable history other than what they say. Mr. Rahami was able to talk them out of any concerns and yet he set up bombs to kill people.

So in your last paragraph I guess you are calling me a Nazi. Usually democrats call people they don’t agree with racists. I guess in your mind somehow I jumped from democrat (I voted for Bill) to now being a Nazi because I don’t agree with you.
