That’s a good pick. I was thinking along those lines also and Jesse Owens definitely fits the bill. I also think Bo Jackson was something.

Johnny Unitas…best QB/Athlete of all time! Watch some of the old game films of him getting hit hard and bouncing right back up only to throw, run and even block for his backs. The limited and protective equipment compared to what players have today made him a monster on the field.

Not much of a sports fan, so not really qualified to answer. Like to watch figure skating, speed skating and downhill skiing. Certain sports story have touched me. Most notable Brian’s Song (RIP James Can) the Dan Janssen story. Love the skating of Victor Petrenko and Torville and Dean.

Other possibles are Lewis Hamilton, Mark Webber and Jenson Button. Not only were/are they among the greatest Formula 1 drivers, they are also among the most fit athletes of any sport, some of them triathletes.

Ayrton Senna was right up there also, albeit controversial.
Senna MAY have been the best driver, but not the best athlete. IMHO, Nuvolari or Clark may have been the best drivers, though Clark said the one driver he feared most (due to his driving ability) was Dan Gurney.
Slightly off topic, however I am a big fan of Bob Bondurant. Aside from co-driving Cobras with Dan Gurney they shared something in common: Neither one were bashful about stretching the limits of race motors RPM or otherwise. These guys were brutal on equipment.
At age 18 I took a somewhat extensive course from Bondurant Racing at Sears Point. Changed my life. I was leaving the last day, and Bob drove up in a Z- car. He stopped me and asked about how I enjoyed the classes. We talked for 20 minutes or so. What a great guy. He was genuinely interested in the opinion of a high school kid with hair past my shoulders. I sold my Firebird the next month and bought a Lotus. Joe Huffaker was another great one also.
