This is the Concord Police weekly burglary report. Please click on the image for a much larger view.

This week, Concord had 19 burglaries. The week before, Concord had 6, and before that, Concord had 16 burglaries.

The last number in some of the addresses has been deleted to respect the privacy of the victim(s).

According to the Concord Police, the report shown above only includes approved reports. Some burglary reports might not be written or completely approved, which is why they are not included in this post.

Two shoplifting incidents reported this time of year provides some clarity to the real stats across the board.

If the item shoplifted is under $950 it won’t be listed here. Those are called “Merchant Reports” at CPD. There are probably dozens of them for this week.

It clearly says value UNDER $950 right in the report. So yes, values under $950 are listed here.

#3 has the “There are probably dozens of them for this week”.

Okay #4, two of how many are listed making your point, what? If you think only 2 shoplifters were apprehended you probably think they were all caught.

If I have somehow misconstrued your comment my apology in advance.

Those are there because CPD physically took someone to their jail. Most are handled via merchant report where CPD provides a case number and doesn’t actually respond. The report is filled out by the store and looks like this:

Merchant reports go directly from CPD to the DA’s office.

If the police went to every shoplifting call in Concord they wouldn’t be available for any other crime. There are literally dozens of 459.5 PC arrests every week, but they never go to CPD’s jail.

Don’t we feel SILLY?

Just imagine what the real numbers are. Poor folks don’t even know their packages have been stolen – who they gonna call? Not CPD and not until carrier confirms delivery. And it’s christmastime so we (the poor folks who are robbed) don’t even know it.
We have to buy security cameras, pay to install them, get a private mail box and pay for that too. It’s going to be just like our land lines! No one calls them but telemarketers! Soon it will be no mail but junk mail! Our wonderful postal workers (more goodbye middle class) poof and gone. Who pays? Why we do. We do all of the work and pay all of the taxes. I saw Apple CEO on 60 minutes last night and came unglued. They don’t pay taxes the way they should! Apple isn’t a California company! JC! No wonder they can build s custom circle whatever. I could too, if I didn’t pay taxes on what I earned. I am a California company, Apple is Irish or Chinese, but not American. For that matter neither is former Pres candidate / what’s his name? he hides his money abroad too / see vanity fair article. We are such suckers.
