An Antioch man is being held on suspicion of kidnapping after he allegedly stole a vehicle from a Concord car dealership during a test drive on Monday with the salesman still inside.

Wesley Dewitt Grayson, 34, is being held on suspicion of felony kidnapping and obstructing or resisting a police officer with bail set at $120,000, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Grayson allegedly entered a Concord car dealership on Monday and took a test drive of a vehicle with an employee accompanying him, according to police.

While on the test drive, the suspect then informed the employee that he was stealing the car and kidnapping the employee, according to police.

Police were alerted after the victim escaped the car during a stop in Pittsburg and called for help.

Antioch police later apprehended him, according to police.

FORMER CONCORD RESIDENT July 31, 2015 at 2:50 PM

This was on the news earlier this week. The suspect drove the new car (it was a large size SUV or a van) to his home in Pittsburg (See, he doesn’t live in Antioch and no one said he did.) to show his relatives. Upon leaving his relatives house he headed off in the wrong direction. When the salesman questioned that and said that they needed to get back to the dealership he shoved the salesman up against the window and said that he wasn’t going back to the dealership. It was a bit later that they got stuck at a traffic light and the salesman jumped out of the car and called the police. The new car had On Star tracking and the police used it to find the vehicle. The vehicle had crashed in Antioch and if I remember right, the guy had ran off.

The dealership was Lehmer’s and it was a $70,000 Cadillac conversion van which the same had test driven earlier that same day.

The TV report a few days ago stated the idiot took the vehicle to his home to show his family and then took the sales rep for a ride. It’s hard to believe someone could be that stupid.
