Morning Burglary on Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill

January 30, 2015 8:00 am · 58 comments

This note came from a Claycordian who was the victim of a burglary on Wednesday.

Took my 82 year old mother with advanced Alzheimer’s disease to Denny’s restaurant on Contra Costa on Wednesday morning around 11am.

Parked in disabled spot right in FRONT of the entrance. Came out to smashed passenger window & they stole an old briefcase with really important legal papers for my mom inside (we were using them next). Zero financial value.

Manager & waitress saw 25 to 30 year old white man on BMX bike riding around that parking lot minutes before break in. He had a beard & dirty blonde hair. Black hoodie. Evidently, Dennys has no deterants outside building.

$50 reward for return of legal documents.

Sorry for your loss. Claycordians, if you’re in the area, keep your eyes out for this briefcase.

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 8:17 AM

That area is crawling with drug addict scum choosing to drug, drink and live under bridges. Fully supported by some of us, they call Homeless.

Khloe January 30, 2015 at 8:18 AM

That is so sad!

Sorry for your loss January 30, 2015 at 8:24 AM

I’m not sure if this is the same person, but I saw a guy that matches that description, including the bmx bike riding up clayton road yesterday.

jj January 30, 2015 at 8:32 AM

I am so sorry for you loss…think for future we should all be aware..not to leave anything important in plan site for these scum bags to see and steal…
always leave things in my trunk…safer….

Hope you get your legal documents back….bet they were thrown in trash somewhere nearby the restaurant…

I am sorry to hear about this loss. Similar situation happened to me at Olive Garden in Pittsburg. Parked under the light, facing the street, next to the building and along the walking path to go in or out. Had a nice meal but found one of the rear windows was knocked out when returning to the car. Not having much in the car to begin with my family and I were amazed that instead of taking the less than $0.50 in change, handful of CDs, the diaper bag, they only took and I want you to hold your breath for this, a bag of trash. No joke. It happened during this last Xmas season so I am sure they thought it was a bag of goodies. Nope, just a big bag of trash. My point? They prolly took the briefcase thinking something of monetary value was inside. Again, I am sorry to hear about this. I can only hope someone has copies of the paperwork stored up somewhere.

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 8:35 AM

I meant to type: They are called Homeless People.

Silva January 30, 2015 at 8:38 AM

Ah yes, The old diversity issue rearing it’s head.

I hope the papers are located.

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 8:42 AM

Evidently, Dennys has no deterants outside building.

Don’t you dare blame Denny’s for this (unless you know for a fact Denny’s votes Dem).

Darwin January 30, 2015 at 8:44 AM

#1 Sick of it
You nailed it!!!! That is exactly what they are, you should read my previous posts..

Check dumpsters, etc. January 30, 2015 at 8:46 AM

Usually, turds like this will check for valuables and discard the stuff they can’t use. It’s probably not very far away.

momopco January 30, 2015 at 8:46 AM

It’s gotten pretty pathetic that nothing can be left in a car… when I have multiple places to go I lug everything with me every time a leave my car… even something empty or valueless. I remember a few months ago a poster mentioning that his car got broken into for an empty Rubbermaid container…

BlahZay January 30, 2015 at 9:05 AM

This is not the nice mostly safe, crime free area anymore. Treat this place as if it were any other ghetto. Don’t leave anything in your car at all. Take it with you, put it in your trunk (and make sure your trunk is locked). There are scumbags everywhere these days. Makes me sad. I miss the days when I could leave my car unlocked with stuff in it or leave my front door and windows opened and not have to worry..

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 9:15 AM

You should go back to Oakland to your live the love of Diversity.

73 MONTE CARLO January 30, 2015 at 9:30 AM

Please people……don’t leave anything in your car. Whether it’s of value or not.

I don’t even use air fresheners in my car anymore. I’m afraid someone might break in and steal it.

I hope the papers are located too.

Justin January 30, 2015 at 9:30 AM

#1: A 25 – 30 yr old white male with a bike sounds homeless to you? I highly doubt it.

But, hurrrr durrrr he probably votes Dem. Seriously, you’re warped.

GuardianOfTheGalaxy January 30, 2015 at 9:31 AM

What was Denny’s supposed to do?

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 9:32 AM

25-30 riding a BMX bike, but nobody sees anything wrong there. Man I’d like to take back the days I could sleep all night, not worry every time I go out of town and get in the moment to relax having a coffee downtown without some individual expressing their diversity.

There NOW there’s that wonderful D-word for You.

Rob January 30, 2015 at 9:33 AM

While the break-in was not your fault and I hope that they catch the criminal and you get the papers back – never, ever, never leave anything in car that people can see that would give a bad guy any thoughts…. A briefcase with documents that are only of value to you – looks like a briefcase that might be holding an expensive laptop computer to someone else.

Silva January 30, 2015 at 9:36 AM

My car was hit the other night. After lugging a new toilet and bags of groceries inside, I forgot to lock my car & set the alarm, something I normally always do. Someone was right on it. Never happened to me during 37 years in West Oakland, and many different cars.

Gargoyle Socks January 30, 2015 at 9:41 AM

Yes, it is so sad that we can’t leave valuables in the car anymore. [wringing hands and shaking head]. Of course, we have been advised of this for THE LAST 30 PLUS YEARS!!!

Is there really anyone surprised that this happened? People can be so naive. And then to subtly blame Denny’s!

Silva January 30, 2015 at 9:50 AM

I guess the good news is my window wasn’t broken.

RANDOM TASK January 30, 2015 at 9:59 AM

you voted to have these people on the streets …no not the homeless ….the criminals that even if caught are on the street to do it again …dems have made it a free for all as they want it to be so they can make more programs with tax money to help you out …when actually all they are doing is making our lives worse and profiting ……you voted for them stop crying now

Rob January 30, 2015 at 10:06 AM

RANDOM TASK January 30, 2015 at 9:59 AM

Yes, because prior to whatever vote you are talking about we never had criminals repeat their crimes…

But you do make an excellent point which is why larger cities in Texas are crime free…

Darwin January 30, 2015 at 10:11 AM

These are the so called “homeless” AKA drug addict criminals..

RunDogRun January 30, 2015 at 10:20 AM

@10 Check dumpsters, etc.

You do realize, don’t you, that t**ds
is profanity just as offensive as f**k,
s**t, b***h, etc., etc., etc.?

Cellophane January 30, 2015 at 10:27 AM

Criminals have nothing to fear now, they are protected better than the unarmored threespine stickleback. The law protects criminals while ignoring law abiding citizens.

Only when criminals fear the law will their numbers decline.

Generations of welfare recipients, illegals and bleeding hearts created a standard in America that tolerates criminal behavior, which is simply wrong.

WC January 30, 2015 at 10:28 AM

#1 & #6, not homeless. They are ‘street people’. Yes, they prefer to live on the streets, get a govt check, panhandle, steal from people, live under the bridge, stay high/drunk.

These people don’t need services, they need to be incarcerated!

Silva January 30, 2015 at 10:34 AM

#13, Stick it where the sun never shines. 🙂

@ RANDOM TASK January 30, 2015 at 10:36 AM

Really. Even a sad event like this has to be turned into an anti-democrat rant. In my book you and your attitudes are as bad as the criminals. I guess you are ready to start glorifying all the progress the new Republican majority has made. Oh, wait. They haven’t made any!!

@Random Task January 30, 2015 at 10:37 AM

You’re the only one that’s crying………… Get over it Troll!

Hubby's off duty Sergeant January 30, 2015 at 10:37 AM

So sorry for your loss. That’s awful. I bet the briefcase or the paperwork is under the bridge over there. Or under the bridge by the Willows. Let see 25/30 year old riding a bike. Sounds like a hobo to me.

Noj January 30, 2015 at 10:46 AM

dirty blonde hair…bmx…thought I’d seen this description on Claycord before:

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 10:54 AM

Someone hand Random Task a tissue.

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 10:58 AM

No way you are not my type, no thanks for the offer.

Stop Giving them Money January 30, 2015 at 11:15 AM

You have to blame the idiot people who give these street scum money as they panhandle. If you make it profitable for them to stay here they will. No more handouts and they leave for another place.

You are not helping anyone by giving them money. It is really a selfish act so you can feel better about yourself.

If you feed rodents you get a lot more rodents.

When you see them panhandling call the police. They can not act without a report.

Make it uncomfortable to be here.

PH Anon January 30, 2015 at 11:27 AM

Saw this guy today riding his bike by PH YMCA, right NEXT to police station.

50 Something January 30, 2015 at 11:51 AM

It is only going to get worse if they tear down the old K-Mart building and put up more low income housing (that is what I have heard the city of PH’s plan is).

PO'd January 30, 2015 at 12:43 PM

25-30 year old on a BMX bike? Gotta know it’s a thief is riding it.Seen it too often.

Wasted $$$ January 30, 2015 at 1:08 PM

TONS of homeless and derelicts live all around that area behind Denny’s. may just not be worth patronizing any of those businesses anymore until Pleasant Hill and Concord cleans up that entire area. Funny they are spending do much on making the median look good and fixing sidewalks for pedestrians but if they don’t get rid of the homeless and crime, it’s all for not!!!!

Thanks Proposition 47 and the uneducated voters that made it law!

J. January 30, 2015 at 1:28 PM

Sick Of It January 30, 2015 at 2:24 PM

The briefcase would make a perfect toilet for those trolls complete with paper.

Elwood January 30, 2015 at 2:25 PM

Tweakers should be shot on sight.

Back2Bay6 January 30, 2015 at 2:31 PM

@50 Something: I don’t think low income housing is the problem, these are no income people. like #35 says stop giving them money and they will have to actually do something to survive. If you absolutely have to give them something, give them a bottle of water or a bit of food.
Rent is so expensive in the bay area already it would really help out the college community to have cheaper housing close by, or keep some people from becoming homeless in the first place.

Silva January 30, 2015 at 2:56 PM

#34, you CLEARLY misinterpreted my post. Never in your wildest dreams. GACK!

DontFeedTheHomeless January 30, 2015 at 3:40 PM

if you sit in the harbor freight parkinglot from 6pm-8pm im positive you will see the guy you are looking for!

Calendar Girl January 30, 2015 at 3:44 PM

Two weeks ago I was heading south by the intersection of CC Blvd. and Willow Pass Rd. There were 2 pretty young women panhandling, standing on the medians. They could’ve been watched by their pimp. Then when I turned onto Willow Pass, there was another young woman under the overpass and more panhandlers standing where 680 exits onto Willow Pass. Pretty depressing to be begging for handouts when you’re only in your 20’s.

mika January 30, 2015 at 5:14 PM

don’t a lot of these types hang out in the creek behind Denny’s? I would look for the papers there.

PH resdient January 30, 2015 at 5:50 PM

If you drive into the back parking area by Denny’s you will see a ton of homeless. I’ve seem crackheads/homeless in their 20-30’s there. Just watch the intersection at In and Out by the freeway and Shell station anytime of day. Stop feeding the crackheads/homeless and their will move on. Yes, people the people standing on the center median are in MOST cases using the money to get high STOP GIVING THEM MONEY! Food ok as much as you want most of them will say no thank you. If you see the homeless causing problems call PD if everyone calls the city may start listening and fix the problem once for all.

Cartman January 30, 2015 at 6:04 PM

Boil him.

Nose Picker January 30, 2015 at 6:23 PM

“Evidently, Dennys has no deterants outside building.”

Soooooo they should have a bouncer and a rabid pitbull on a leash patrolling the parking lot?

Fritzhugh Ludlow January 30, 2015 at 7:02 PM

Strange? This sort of thing never happens in front of the near by Gun Store

thx4youropinion January 30, 2015 at 8:03 PM

@#22 — At it again, aren’t you, Leprechaun?

Random couldn’t satisfy his personal pleasures off the “BART address customer concerns” section with his “you … you … you” jazz there either.

(I think it’s passive-aggression from being slapped around too much. Ignore him. He’s just an odd little crazy person.)

k. saint January 30, 2015 at 8:52 PM

@50 Something – Last I heard at the City Council debate a few months ago, the city council had not established its plans for development of the Kmart property. Has there been more discussion on this at one of the past few council meetings?

@RunDogRun #10 January 31, 2015 at 7:58 AM

Um, no. The word “turd” is only profanity to you. People who smash windows and steal other people’s stuff are the turds of society and need to be flushed.

vanessajlutz January 31, 2015 at 3:20 PM

If I were you I would look under both sides of the bridge at Chilpancingo Pkwy. The McDonalds side and Toys R Us side. Maybe even walk the canal trail down to Center ave. I live nearby and will keep my eyes open for it. Also maybe the bridge near Golf Club road.

Miranda January 31, 2015 at 4:09 PM

Constant stupidity!

Psycho Cat February 1, 2015 at 7:55 PM

Check the creek out behind Denny’s area, and check the bushes by the 680 South on ramp there kiddy corner to In n Out Burger where the homeless hang out when they are not pan handling in the middle of the street. They store stuff in the bushes there and under the freeway overpass there on Concord Ave.
