Bakersfield Police have released more information on the murder of a Clayton man  over the weekend.

Christopher Wagstaff, 43, was found lying on the ground in front of the Kern County Superior Courthouse on Truxtun Avenue at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, Bakersfield police Sgt. Joe Grubbs said.

Grubbs declined to say whether he was found with any gunshot or stab wounds or other evidence indicating how he was killed, saying the
investigation into the homicide is ongoing.

The spokesman said Wagstaff’s body was found the day after he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment in the Lake Isabella area, located about 45 minutes outside of Bakersfield.

The arrest happened around 11 p.m. last Friday and he was booked into Kern County Jail in Bakersfield around 4:30 a.m. Saturday and released
at 10:22 p.m., Grubbs said.

“We’re looking at the period between 10:22 p.m. and 7:22 a.m.,” he said, adding that there is nothing to indicate Wagstaff’s killing was related
to his arrest.

Did they release him with any money to get a room?

Where are the smarmy Claycord knee jerk “So sad” and “prayers” posts now?

Dude had a long history of being a doucenozzle. No sympathy here.

Eh? Why would they give him money for a room?

Did he piss off a cell mate who was released at the same time? Was it the person he called to pick him up? Did he infuriate the officer who arrested him? That’s someone who is pretty pissed off to take him down right outside the courthouse! Hard to believe it would be a random stranger. Arrested at 11pm, booked 5.5 hours later at 430am and released that night at 10:22pm … I’m curious if that is typical timing for an arrest in that area?

Releasing him at 10:22pm did they make sure he had a place to go? Sounds like he was a drifter.

Sounds like he messed with the wrong persons child.

He’s a 43 year old man. It doesn’t really seem like their business.

Good question did they get him a room after he left? Of course they should along with a nice meal, clean clothes a rental car and an Obama phone. And a bit of spending money to boot.Maybe pedicure, too.and some holistic medicine and an I pad.
