Concord Blvd. near Hames Dr. (just northwest of Ayers, going towards Kirker Pass) in Concord is closed after a utility truck crashed into a power pole and overturned.

Power lines are down, and injuries have been reported, although we’re hearing the injuries are not life-threatening.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

Thanks to all the Claycordians for the photos shown above.

Please use caution if you’re in the area.

UPDATE, 10:32am: About 40 people are without power in the area. PG&E says power could be restored by 6:30 tonight.

UPDATE, 11:05am: Concord Police say Concord Blvd. will be closed between Ayers & Trail Creek for the next 6-8 hours. Use Clayton Rd. as a detour.

UPDATE, 11:05am: Several Claycordians reported the crash involved an Astound truck, however, Concord Police say it was actually a PG&E truck.

UPDATE, 11:45am: It was originally reported that this was an Astound truck after three Claycordians said the truck belonged to Astound, then Concord Police said the truck was a PG&E truck. Now PG&E is saying it’s not one of their trucks.

I see a job opening.

That took a real byte out of that pole, it will take a bit of time to replace it.

Sinclair August 18, 2014 at 10:57 AM

Just got a text from CPD that Concord Blvd will be shut down for the next 6-8 hours.

How is my driving?

Bob the Repairman August 18, 2014 at 11:04 AM

Maybe driving a little too fast?

Cash August 18, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Thanks Claycord for showing the details. The Concord police text had no info.

Concordejet August 18, 2014 at 11:17 AM

the driver ran into a pole so he can quickly install the cable TV while driving.

I went by there this morning, and this truck must have been hauling ass, which is surprising to me since the pack of motorcycle Cops who patrol this stretch of road will pull you over for going 4 miles an hour over the limit! Where were they this morning?

Durwood August 18, 2014 at 11:45 AM

PG&E bucket trucks are blue, that truck is white, kinda like Astound trucks. How hard can it be for the police who must be standing right next to the thing?

anon August 18, 2014 at 11:46 AM

Is that what *322copters r 4?

anon August 18, 2014 at 11:50 AM

There are helicopters over Ayers/Laurel area. Is this related or something new?

Silva August 18, 2014 at 11:56 AM

Once again, the place to come to when you’re being buzzed by the news chopper. Thanks,!

H August 18, 2014 at 11:59 AM

2 news helicopters have been here for a while. I’m surprised this is getting so much coverage.

T-Birdie August 18, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Multiple helicopters are flying over the Clayton Rd K-mart/Lucky plaza too, is there something more to this that just an over-turned truck? Are the police looking for somebody?

Davilo August 18, 2014 at 12:03 PM

Well, do you think the news copter has enough footage for tonights broadcast? They must be getting low on fuel by now.

H August 18, 2014 at 12:05 PM

KPIX and KTVU each covered it briefly.

Han Solo August 18, 2014 at 12:11 PM

I heard they are having a sale and you’ll flip over their rates.

Helicopters August 18, 2014 at 12:17 PM

Maybe they are taking footage for the news

Mr. Obvious August 18, 2014 at 12:28 PM

Was the driver trying to avoid the police car and fire truck that are in the middle of the road?

bubba August 18, 2014 at 12:51 PM

Marissa August 18, 2014 at 1:01 PM

Glad to see that astound is right on top of the goddamn problem .
I swear to God this company is a goddamned joke

Barbara Heuring August 18, 2014 at 6:08 PM

Astound said services won’t be restored until 6am this blows man. Ugh

wonder if August 18, 2014 at 6:41 PM

this is the same truck that parks in front of a house down that way? Every teim I drive that way I see it on the right side going towards Clayton. Our Astound came back on after a few minutes, we closer to Thornwood.

Mika August 18, 2014 at 7:08 PM

Out of state contractors. . .

JIm August 18, 2014 at 7:27 PM

Speed much?

Fil August 18, 2014 at 7:40 PM

I guess I will figure out my bill and then deduct one business day from the bill for service not render ……
Could someone tell me if I would be in my legal rights to do this or not….
I think this would be great if everyone who has been inconvenience by this…
It is not like PG&E where the power that you use, you pay for. So if you lost your power you are not charge for power not used…
But on the other hand the cable company is going to charge you for services render, That you never received or viewed, It doesn’t seem fair……..

T Mo August 18, 2014 at 8:19 PM

Power was out for more than forty people. Our power was out 2 hours and we are 4 blocks away.

MisterS August 18, 2014 at 10:20 PM

Can people not use their eyes? White truck blue stripe under he door. That’s an astound truck.

Annoyed August 18, 2014 at 10:45 PM

My Astound and electricity went off and on For an hour or so..then stayed on. I live off Denkinger. Boo hoo. I’m glad no one was hurt or killed. My, aren’t we spoiled, rotten! I’m thankful!
