A pastor who held services at churches in Concord and San Francisco was arrested by Daly City police today for alleged lewd acts on a minor, police said.

The Rev. Ventje Cornelis Singkoh, 69, was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. following a police investigation, according to Daly City police.

Singkoh is a pastor at the Indonesian Pentecostal Foursquare Church at 378 18th Ave. in San Francisco’s Richmond District, and also held services at the Golden Gate Christian Church at the same address, First Presbyterian Church at 1965 Colfax St. in Concord and his Daly City home.

A woman who answered the phone at the church today declined to comment on the police investigation.

Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call Daly City police Detective Ron Harrison at (650) 991-8175.

His name should be Ventje Cornelis Sicko. 69 years old? Eeew. How many more lives has he ruined in his long and glorious career? Sad.

“Reverend”? absolutely despicable. Since Jesus said ‘Nobody is good except one, God’, how can it be ok for these men to take on the title ‘Reverend’?

Woah I knew a woman that claimed there was sexual misconduct by a pastor at the downtown Presbyterian church about 15 years ago. nobody believed her accusations.

It’s so depressing when you see how many people do this! The best thing about this is that they caught the man and he won’t be doing that anymore.

At a City Council Meeting once when renovating a Park came up in Martinez CA, more than one very concerned parent pointed out the undesirable people that hang out in the park sometimes. And wanted cameras and more done to get rid of them to keep their kids safe.. Also for them to remove all the bushes around the playground area, And Homeless , that They pose a risk to their children!
I had to get up for public comment. I pointed out the vast majority of child abusers are not the dirty old man on the corner, or homeless people, people who look a certain way. But coaches. Teachers. Pastors. Others who appear respectable and trustworthy. Even their own parents, which statistically are number one, on who abuses kids the most. Followed by Uncles, Step parents, trusted family friends, down the list of people who they trust most. Are closest to their kids. People usually trust others more who dress nice. By the job they have. If they have kids of their own or are nice. Like a coach or teacher. But are scared of the Homeless man in the park.
I pointed this out just so people know. You should not judge by looks or if someone looks dirty, is homeless, but everyone. To keep your kids safe. Even in the home of trusted people more, than some bushes around a playground? Give me a break. Usually pointing this out, which is statistically the truth, is met with hostility even. How dare you.. I just call it like it is, and this is what came to mind seeing this article just now. Youth pastors seem to have a high rate of this crime. Most child abusers, predators, gravitate to positions like this, coach, teacher, pastor, so they can commit their crimes. Scary world, but trust me, it is Not the boggie man you should be most concerned with, but maybe someone who appears nice and dressed nice and has seems trust worthy and respectable… Statistically it is correct. Just sad. Ruins lives. Whole lives. Sick.

There are many more out there like him. They get jobs where the kids come to them.

I was a member of the downtown Presbyterian Church for many years and there was never an issue with sexual misconduct that I ever heard about. There were plenty of other issues, but not that.

Great. We thought it was limited to the Catholic Churches but it’s broken out. We need total containment before it spreads to any more denominations.

This seems to be a common theme. Is it just because it is reported more often now, or has this always been going on but just not reported. Awful.

I can’t believe people like this are or become pastors or priests. This is the most damaging thing you could ever do to a child. How can they do this and then speak of God’s given word?

for people like this. Once convicted, get a rope. No appeals, no hand wringing by the bleeding hearts, just get them out of a civilized society, permanently.

Let’s have some landscaping work done around the church. Put this clown in the branch grinding machine.

“If anyone causes one of these little ones–those who believe in me–to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Matthew 18:6
God will deal severely with this man if this is true.

Mee #7, That is the truth.

Looks like the Catholic bashers are out in force, even though these allegations have NOTHING to do with the Catholic Church.

For the record, at the height of the Catholic scandal 15 years ago, less than 4% of Catholic American priests were ever accused of improper conduct toward minors, and some of those accusations proved to be false.

Of course one offense against a child is one too many, but people need to know the truth, and the truth is the Catholic Church and schools have cleaned house, updated practices and policies, and today set a very high standard to assure the safety of children I their care.

This man does not belong to the Presbyterian Church in Concord. His congregation was merely leasing one room on Saturday afternoons to hold services. First Presbyterian Church Concord leases space to several organizations including other denominations for functions and/or services. I am disappointed in the reporting that would link the Landlord to the crimes of the tenant. It would be nice if a clarification were made to this effect. There is enough church bashing going on without implicating members of a congregation that has nothing to do with the Pastor in question.

20 The Professor August 13, 2014 at 9:19 AM

Let’s not all jump to conclusions. If he did it, then he’s despicable. But at this point, he’s only been arrested. No trial or plea yet and certainly no conviction. There’s a process that needs to be followed.

If convicted, then they should cut his balls off with rusty hedge shears.

21 HotHotHot August 13, 2014 at 9:27 AM

Hell will be hotter for these “betrayers” of God’s Word. Regardless of the religious flag they operate under, they will pay.

22 Claycord Resident August 13, 2014 at 9:28 AM

@Darryl McCollum the story says he held services at the church and you are saying he held services at the church.I don’t see anything in the story that links the landlord to any crime.

23 Walter White August 13, 2014 at 9:35 AM

Agree with Concord Mike. The Catholic Church is far from perfect, but they’re an easy target. Seems one of the only groups that can be publicly attacked on a regular basis, the other being white males, without public outcries of racism.

24 Lou Daxx August 13, 2014 at 9:56 AM

I had nothing to do with any of this.

25 Silva August 13, 2014 at 10:45 AM

Well I’m very relieved to hear he’s NOT a presbyterian minister. That was shocking! yes the Presbyterian churches lease space to smaller congregations who cannot afford all of that overhead. Not to say it can”t happen’ but I was shocked.

26 Moneypenny August 13, 2014 at 12:09 PM

Surprise, surprise another minister is caught sexually abusing a minor. It seems that these demented “souls” seek refuge and help for their perversions in the church. Obviously, even the lord cannot help these weirdos…..

“Great. We thought it was limited to the Catholic Churches but it’s broken out. We need total containment before it spreads to any more denominations.”

A completely ignorant statement. The Catholic bishops who were soft or criminally negligent or complicit in cover-ups deserve all the criticism and penalties in the world. And at the level of the bishops there was a specifically Catholic problem, in a certain sense – a corruption of hierarchy.

But there has never been any evidence that the actual abuse by priests occurred at any higher rates than in other denominations, or even than in institutions like public schools. It’s just lazy ignorance to claim that this is or ever was a “Catholic problem.” This happens, sadly, in any field where adults have control over and access to children. We can fight against it, but it would help to have a basic acquaintance with facts first!

29 @ Silva August 13, 2014 at 12:48 PM

what does his denomination have to do with his alleged crime?

Committing such an act is certainly sinful in every religion I know of save Muslims. Admittedly I don’t know of all religions, but do know and understand many.

Embrace the men of our churches, non section 8 churches of-course, spreading the gospel to out children.

This crime, which I would call an unthinkable insidious act on a vulnerable person, the lowest of low, and the people who do it, crosses every social, economical, denominational, (or none), professional line there is. From doctors to you name it. No one group does it more or less. Only some are around children more and some who would do this to another, some, sadly, gravitate to certain positions to be around them, and commit their crimes. Thus raising the percent of that group molesting etc…Rape, Molestation, hurting another that way, I cannot even think of. It sickens me. Even to the Germans, as Russians moved into Berlin. The rape. And other cases. I cannot think about it without being heart broken, because it is terrifying and unfathomable. And the pain. Many victims killed themselves after.. I will not go into details. Horrible. Everything it causes the victims. But still, quit blaming or pointing to religion ( Which I am an Atheist btw ) as the Big problem. There are big problems in our society all over. In homes. Schools. You name it. I have opinions why it happens more in the US than is should. But still, it could be the mail man or the father, to the dentist to the teacher, a religious person, non religious, even a woman OR man. Read the Paper. So stop pointing fingers. And let us point the finger at STOPPING this. From destroying young lives and entire lives. It is disgusting and one of the most despicable acts I think one person can inflict on another. And one thing. Make harsher prison sentences for this crime and less for others. Like addiction. Selling a small bag of crack will get you 10 years minimum sentence, even sold to another adult who should know better, yet some of these molesters, esp parents, get out in 6 months. STOP THAT. Let us get our priorities in order. PLEASE. But educate yourself. It crosses every line. Even gender, as to who commits these acts…
