Police in Walnut Creek are asking for the public’s help in finding a man suspected of stealing a package from a home’s front doorstep on Tuesday evening.

The theft, which was caught on a home surveillance camera, happened around 7:10 p.m. at a home in Trotter Court, Walnut Creek police Lt. Steve Gorski said.

Gorski said the man made off with a package containing about $107 worth of diapers and baby formula.

He was seen leaving the area in an older gray GMC truck, according to police.

Police are releasing a surveillance image of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to call Walnut Creek police at 925-943-5844.

Judging from the angle he is standing at, I’d say it’s Lee Harvey Oswald.

Bet he was upset when he opened that box!

MHR August 6, 2014 at 10:51 PM

This morning around 8am my daughter and I went for a hike in Lime Ridge. When we pulled into the Montecito lot, there was a box with it contents scattered in the lot. I picked everything up and stuffed it back in the box. We left the box in the lot until we finished our hike and then delivered the package to the address on the label. The box appears to have been snatched from the nearby Crossings neighborhood. I’m guessing the thieves weren’t happy with the contents :-/

Amazing how cheap some folks can be when trying to come up with gifts for a baby shower. Geesh!

They’re making a live action Super Mario Bros movie. He’s doing a screen test for Luigi.

I hope this scumbag is caught. Great surveillance picture. Helps to have a good camera. Too many dirtbags on our streets these days. I try to remember that most people are good people and that there are a very few who are ruining things for the rest of us.

MHR: Good of you to do that. Thanks for setting a good example for your daughter.

#9 Some people purchase those items from Amazon because they deliver and the stuff’s cheaper than in the stores, and you have no idea how expensive diapers and formula are.

mist August 7, 2014 at 7:01 AM

Geez, maybe he needs the diapers

bwaahhh August 7, 2014 at 7:06 AM

Maybe his girlfriend was really happy when he came home with a box of stuff for the kid instead of the usual stolen electronics. He might have even been able to play it off as very good behavior, use it as a sign to turn over a new leaf. “hey, if I just buy diapers all the time instead of drugs…”?

That looks like someone’s pathetic old father running up and stealing things off of front door steps. I hope, as PHPD said above, he did get caught. I’d love to hear about someone catching him in the act.

Surely would like to know what company makes such a good security camera….can even see the button on his shirt!

In the early 1960’s, disposable diapers were new on the market. It was cheaper to have diaper service than to buy disposables! With three children under 4 years old, we used the latter only for vacations and plane flights.

good camera what brand is that security camera?

I hope that loser will get locked up for good and throw the key away. Oh yes before you do lock him up. give him DIRTY diaper haha.

I have one of those security camera brand by Brinnos it is the one and only peep hole travel size camera you can take anywhere with you. it great for apartments, condos and even hotels because they fit on the standard peep hole door without having to screw just one of those 1-2-3 step installation. I love it. cheap and easy.

Great job WCPD, love how they are very pro-active on “quality of life” crimes, and very clear photo!

My opinion August 7, 2014 at 9:50 AM

The shoes are totally different and the guys don’t really look the same…

Stupid People August 7, 2014 at 10:18 AM

I say shoot him if you see him around.

Mr. Joshua August 7, 2014 at 10:19 AM

Let’s see…sunken tweeker cheeks and moustache, plus receding hair line to indicate a fifty year old, coupled with baggy dickies and douchebag clothes….I’d say its a safe bet he’s in Antioch.

His lawyer will use the baby diaper defense.

Mtz resident August 7, 2014 at 12:18 PM

If he doesn’t need the diapers now he will need them after he gets out of jail.

Looks like he could be the same guy they just arrested at the Stadium Pub for the burglaries in San Jose & Morgan Hill. Apparently he was hiding out in WC,

It’s not the same guy.

Vic August 7, 2014 at 1:30 PM

Great camera. Hopefully they catch him.

Cheap Entertainment August 7, 2014 at 3:25 PM

Lets have some fun, next package you get, open it from the bottom, remove your purchase then put in something of no value, tape it back up and put it back out on the porch for thief pickup.

Kirk August 7, 2014 at 4:27 PM

I had someone try and steal a box i was using to cover a geranium because of the frost last winter.

I have a question, a friend of mine had cameras that took clear images of the two guys who broke into his shop and stole tools. He reported it to the police and gave them the images. Three weeks later he sees the guys walking in downtown Martinez. He follows them and calls the police. The cops would do nothing. He followed them all the way home and gave the police the address, they told him there wasn’t anything they could do.

It seemed a little off to me so I told the story to another police officer I work for. He said, “yeah, camera shots are a nice thing to add in at a trial but you can’t make an arrest for burglary off of one.” That kind of blew me away, what’s the point of having cameras if they can’t lead to an arrest.

Has anyone else heard this from a reliable source?

Yosemite Sam August 7, 2014 at 6:02 PM

@Kirk- yes, I have been told by officers the same story. B.S.!
