Woman Found Severely Injured at Hillcrest Park in Concord on Saturday Morning

August 2, 2014 10:08 am · 71 comments

A woman was found severely injured at Hillcrest Park in Concord just after 6:30 on Saturday morning.

The woman was located at the Matteo’s Dream playground inside Hillcrest Park. She was wrapped in a blue blanket and bleeding heavily, but she was alive. She was losing consciousness when PD arrived, and was quickly transported to the hospital.

The woman was possibly dropped off at that location by an unknown male, police said.

The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

Concord Police have the Matteo’s Dream playground taped off, and are currently investigating the incident.

Wow that’s sad

2 Teri August 2, 2014 at 10:20 AM

And what makes them say a male dropped her off? Was there a sighting, or is this gender bias? Women commit half of all domestic violence attacks.

3 CLAYCORD.com August 2, 2014 at 10:23 AM

@Teri, pretty sure she told them she was dropped off.

4 @Teri August 2, 2014 at 10:29 AM

Your bias comment is a valid point, but really, does this sound like something women do to each other?

5 Connie Dobbs August 2, 2014 at 10:35 AM

What did you do to her, Teri?

6 94598 August 2, 2014 at 10:38 AM

Wow- this is the fastest I’ve ever seen a claycord thread get sidetracked!

7 Reagan August 2, 2014 at 10:39 AM

@teri don’t be a hater. Calm down & get a hobby

8 Marissa August 2, 2014 at 10:41 AM

Prayers to that woman in her recovery.

9 Silva August 2, 2014 at 10:45 AM

How

10 Silva August 2, 2014 at 10:46 AM

How AWFUL. I hope she’s going to be okay.

11 Chevelle girl August 2, 2014 at 10:46 AM

@ Teri
Does it really matter what gender injured tis person? She was hurt and dumped…that is the point. Hope she heals safely and quickly.

12 Evie Cunningham August 2, 2014 at 10:48 AM

I think the point is the ability of another woman being able to carry her onto the playground to dump her there, An injured person is dead weight and hard to carry if they are about the same size as the person carrying them.

13 CCW August 2, 2014 at 10:48 AM

Wow, how were the injuries obtained? Was she a transient? My family was just there yesterday at matteos dream playground.

14 FormerConcordMom August 2, 2014 at 10:54 AM

Ummmm….YES! Women DO commit violent acts against men AND each other! It isn’t the 50’s anymore! Geez! The real issue isn’t HOW Claycord posted it….the real issue here is the fact that a women was severely injured and basically left in the park to die!

15 Anonymous August 2, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Ah more feigned outrage! Gender bias discovered on claycord!
ZZZZ

16 KenInConcord August 2, 2014 at 11:14 AM

Wait what was this post about??

We were so busy writing about OUR feelings. We forgot that a person is hurt and in need of medical attention, love, support & a community that is actually outraged by what happened to her!!!!

17 Such a sad commentary August 2, 2014 at 11:35 AM

on society today.

Dumping another human being in a park to die.

Flippant comments regarding the horrid event.

Shows a huge lack of empathy. Perhaps that should be this societues epitaph.

18 TraumaRx August 2, 2014 at 11:43 AM

I’ve see many domestic violence cases in my career. Men are at most times to blame even if the woman initiated the violence or verbal abuse. Law enforcement is also quick to side with the woman the majority of time. Doesn’t seem fair at all. Women who hit men and don’t think it’s ok for themto get hit back are hypocrites! By the way I’m a woman.

19 Doreen August 2, 2014 at 11:46 AM

I pray that she make a full recovery.

20 Craig Cannon August 2, 2014 at 11:47 AM

What a Bunch of Flap. There are Many Reasons, People Become Injured. Sometimes They don’t Want to Go to a Hospital. Good Thing She was Spotted and Taken to Treatment. If it is Criminal, I Pray She See”s Justice, and The Person(s) are Brought To Justice. Terrible Things are happening in Our Little World. Can we just Pray for Her, Direct Our Energy To Her Well Being?

21 hmmm August 2, 2014 at 11:55 AM

One night stand… gone terribly wrong?

22 MadMom August 2, 2014 at 11:58 AM

Prayers for the injured woman. What a sad thing to happen. I hope they find out what happened and who’s responsible.

23 Lil Bear August 2, 2014 at 12:02 PM

The person that dumped her should have at least dropped her off in Hospital lot and called them.H ow can someone have no feeling or guilt? What went wrong with his childhood? too much internet use without human bond? Too much violent video game use?
Why is human life not sacred anymore? It’s time to think about it and save our children.

24 old concord August 2, 2014 at 12:09 PM

Pray she is fine and can identify her attacker .

25 Dorothy August 2, 2014 at 12:23 PM

I hope she recovers and is able to tell who did this to her.

26 sumsocool August 2, 2014 at 12:30 PM

I just got done accounting for all my female family members, they are all safe. A description would be nice instead of just a female. Maybe some of you should stop arguing and pray for her and her family.

27 Cat Wrangler August 2, 2014 at 12:57 PM

God bless and help the poor woman. My prayers and thoughts are with her and her loved ones. What kind of abberation injures a woman so badly and then leaves her to die in a place where children could find her?

28 ConcordMike August 2, 2014 at 1:07 PM

Oh My Mayor…
I’m really starting to wonder if people should be able to post more than one comment on this blog.
Just leave your comment regarding the story posted and leave it at that.

29 Isabelle August 2, 2014 at 1:16 PM

A sad thin to happen this morning, prayers to her and her family.

30 Popcorn anyone? August 2, 2014 at 1:20 PM

Wow there a lot of senseless drama here, why?
My prayers to this woman. I hope she makes a full recovery and is able to tell the authorities who did this to her

31 Tom August 2, 2014 at 1:24 PM

This is very sad. My heart goes out to this lady, and I hope she recovers soon.

32 jk August 2, 2014 at 1:51 PM

Very sad to hear this poor woman wrapped in blanket and left to die….glad she was found…and hope she makes a full recovery…and can tell the police
who did this horrible thing to her….and this person is arrested before they can do this kind of thing again….next time the person may not be alive when found. sad what kind of society we live in today…to have this kind of thing happen….

33 lights and sirens August 2, 2014 at 1:51 PM

Obviously who ever dropped her off wanted her to be found. Otherwise I’m sure they could of found a more hidden area.. And cared enough to leave a blanket.. who knows what happened. Super Creepy story though!

34 Julie August 2, 2014 at 1:54 PM

This is so horrifying. Mayor please let us know if there is an update?
Claycoridans please spew out your stupidity on an article that isn’t so serious. What a pack of idiots.

35 Joseph August 2, 2014 at 2:26 PM

I heard about that this morning, it’s terrifying! I live right across the street and I’m always walking our dog around the park in the afternoon, and now it’s gonna be almost impossible for me to do that without a friend or someone.

36 Sandy W August 2, 2014 at 2:35 PM

I hope that no child found her. How traumatic for whoever did find her. I am glad to hear that she was taken for care. Hope the PD gets all the evidence they need.

37 Joan VanSnark August 2, 2014 at 2:42 PM

Lil Bear, really? Are you blaming the internet and video games for this? Yeah…because nobody ever did things like this until video games and the internet came along.

That’s ridiculous.

38 Rudegal August 2, 2014 at 3:14 PM

I just moved directly across the street from the playground yesterday. This morning I got up at 6:45 AM to walk my dog. They were about to load her into the ambulance. Later I was told she was sexually assaulted. I hope she makes a full recovery and who ever is responsible is fully punished.

39 Am I reading the same article? August 2, 2014 at 3:18 PM

Where does it even say she was attacked or somebody “did this” to her? It says she’s severely injured. Let’s all be happy she was found, hopefully in time, and pull for her to make a full recovery. IF another party (of any gender) is responsible, let’s hope they are brought to justice. Until then, please stop making stuff up.

40 Cat Wrangler August 2, 2014 at 3:48 PM

#33 – “..and cared enough to leave a blanket..” Give me a break! If the unidentified party cared the woman would have been taken to the nearest ER and the unidentified party would have stayed to help answer questions and assist authorities and medical personnel to help the victim. I hope and pray the woman recovers and her attacker is found and stopped from hurting others.

41 Raini August 2, 2014 at 4:06 PM

So glad she was found, wishing for a full recovery. I have faith the PD will do their best in identifying whomever did this.

42 concord mom August 2, 2014 at 4:08 PM

so sad. i dont feel safe taking my family to this park anymore.

43 Vanessa August 2, 2014 at 4:18 PM

45 MicheLLes August 2, 2014 at 5:09 PM

Any update on the woman’s condition, Mayor??

46 CLAYCORD.com August 2, 2014 at 5:15 PM

The victim is currently in stable condition.

47 Good news August 2, 2014 at 5:24 PM

48 MicheLLes August 2, 2014 at 5:34 PM

I also heard she was sexually assaulted, very badley. I pray for her and hope that she will be able to tell the police who did that to her.

50 Marissa August 2, 2014 at 6:28 PM

It’s really nice to hear she’s in stable condition. More prayers to her and her family.

51 another lady in concord August 2, 2014 at 7:36 PM

Happy to hear at the end of this unbelievable thread of good hearts praying and callous hearts spewing needless babble that prayers were answered and she is stable.
Let’s just hope and pray that no one else ends up visiting a park in a blanket this way again.
God bless you, mi Lady. Heal up. And may the God who heals you, bring that
person who maligned you to justice so they don’t repeat the hate and violence again.

52 MrDioji August 2, 2014 at 7:38 PM

@ concord mom,

I’m sure you can still take your kids to this park. It’s a great park. Just don’t go in the middle of the night. The assault may not have even happened there.

53 sam August 2, 2014 at 9:31 PM

We are all the “eyes and ears” of the communittee, please assist whenever possible, to bring these dangerous criminals, that are forever lurking in the shadows, to justice; for they just might very well be victimizing you very soon or someone or something, for whom you care.

54 Joan VanSnark August 2, 2014 at 10:25 PM

People say they “heard” she was sexually assaulted. The police have released no details so anything you people “heard” from your cousin’s best friend’s neighbor is nothing but hearsay and rumor and a mature adult wouldn’t be spreading that crap around.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Mayor, thank you for keeping us updated. I’m happy to hear that she’s stable. Hoping for a full recovery.

55 sam August 2, 2014 at 10:30 PM

Dangerous criminals are forever lurking in the shadows, just waiting for the opportunity, to attack their next victim; their next victim just might be you or someone or something you it is the responsibility of all good citizens, to be the “eyes and ears” of our community.

56 Dee Reynolds August 2, 2014 at 11:51 PM

I had my grandchildren at that park a couple of months ago and discovered a man’s complete set of clothing in the little kids portion behind their “Safeway Store”. The little ones were laughing at the under ware. I called the police…..waited an hour….had to leave, so I called the cops again insisting a man may be nude or have bad intent. Don’t know the result.

57 big A August 3, 2014 at 11:18 AM

How about this the perp didn’t have to carry her if she was wrapped in a blanket then she could of been dragged to the seen so it could of been a women or man or possibly multiple people don’t count anything out until you know the facts I hope the girl has a speedy recovery and the person or persons responsible for this crime get what they got coming to them of top

58 fagott August 3, 2014 at 12:17 PM

Lol.. probably my ex

59 anonanonagain August 3, 2014 at 2:29 PM

This is just awful. I hope that she makes a speedy recovery. She is going to be traumatized by this for a very long time. Probably for the rest of her days. I can’t imagine what she is going through…..

On a side note, all the horrid comments here are pitiful. @ HMMMM @ 21, you should be ashamed of your horrid self for insinuating this is a one night stand gone wrong. Crawl back under your rock and grow a spine……

60 RudeGal August 3, 2014 at 6:37 PM

@Joan VanSnark I actually heard directly from a Concord Police officer she has very badly sexually assaulted.

61 Horse n around August 3, 2014 at 7:31 PM

@ Joan. You do realize that there are Police and other First responders that are on this site also right? So please don’t tell us to be ashamed of ourselves. Some of us do HEAR it or unfortunately have to be there to see what horrible things people do to each other on a day to day basis. And no we don’t HEAR it from a cousins best friend or neighbor that you seem to think we have.

62 Dee Reynolds August 3, 2014 at 8:55 PM

Any update ???

We as a society need to work together. I believe there are more good people but we only focus on the bad people. As long as people go into their houses and hide then we cannot help one another in a time of need this problem will continue to happen. Cops can’t be everywhere and criminals know it and attorneys get the bad guys off the hook. What do you expect? My prayers for the woman.
