BART needs better security! I can’t believe anyone even parks there anymore. That was my friends catalytic converter (both of them) that got stolen. Cost them almost $5k to repair the car because of the way these bastards cut them off their vehicle. I wish those losers a lifetime of car trouble and flat tires, not to mention a good beat-down in the near future!

Time for a “bait bike.”

3 How dumb July 23, 2014 at 10:40 AM

They pay these BART police officers a fortune via us the taxpayers, yet where are they? How many bikes stolen every week, catalytic converters especially off Toyota’s. Barney Fife could do a better job than these clowns.

Have we thought about video cameras at BART bike racks? Big ones with aimable guns on them? We could sell time to people who could monitor the cameras and shoot the bad guys remotely.

If you ever go to pleasant hill BART, you can pick out the thieves without too much hassle. Last time I was there I asked one if he thought he could outrun a police officer, he asked why, and I said because I saw you casing the bikes and have already called them and provided them with a photo of him…he was a fast runner and would have prob outrun the cops.

Damn people! BikeLink card, problem solved.

7 FartyBart July 23, 2014 at 11:30 AM

It would be nice if BART would install security cameras right by the bike racks. It seems like there are numerous bike thefts each week reported here. There are probably more that aren’t reported. Wish they’d do something to prevent this from happening and get these thieves put away. I do wonder what the BART mini-cops are doing…don’t they patrol or check things out? Odd.

8 Don P - N. Concord July 23, 2014 at 11:41 AM

Why do people care if someone urinates on the train? Everyone has that moment when they just can’t hold it anymore. Cut them some slack.

Come on Bart put some Drones in the air around the stations. Your Bart police would love to play with those.

11 Smart,Goodlooking&Debonaire July 23, 2014 at 11:51 AM

More importantly, were the rights of any of these criminals violated? the local lefties demand to know!!

12 Russ July 23, 2014 at 11:52 AM

Might I suggest castration for bike thieves?

13 I'm The Urban Spaceman July 23, 2014 at 11:58 AM

It appears to be unsafe to leave your bicycles at a BART station.
What does BART PD & Station agents do to deter theft?

14 The Mamba July 23, 2014 at 1:17 PM

Same crime, same station a day later. BART is unbelievable. Also, how have all the liberal progressives we constantly elect not figured out how to get secure bike parking at BART as part of their green agenda? It makes no sense.

@ Don P – N. Concord #8

You are a loony. Perhaps you’re the kind of perv who enjoys the smell of urine.

Most of us are not.

@I’m The Urban Spaceman, the SA & BART PD continue looking for answers in cases of doughnuts and pitchers of Soda…unfortunately they have yet to find answers, stay tuned.

To prevent Bicycle Theft at BART stations, Use the BikeLink Lockers. For pennies per hour your Bicycle will be safe. If you Come to the Bike Tent on Thursdays at Todos Santos Plaza, I have information on the lockers. The Bike Tent is sponsored by Bike East Bay/Bike Concord. We perform complimentary (minor) bicycle bicycle repairs. We have a lot of information on Bicycling in the East Bay. This is a Volunteer nonprofit operation.

Management had to give themselves a 3.7% raise at someone’s expense! BART SO SUCKS THESE DAYS! Riding home Monday squished in five-car train at midnight, man who can’t speak English has seizure; his friend can’t speak English either to communicate with medical personnel which took forever to get there. BART can’t even be humane enough to run more than five-car trains after 11:30 p.m. or be on time! The stations and trains are filfthy and disgusting. You can’t depend on your car being in the same shape you left it in. how good of a deal is BART; oh yeah, that whopping $130.00 tax deduction when I spend $300.00 plus a month to ride this friggin shame train to Work. BART is miserable and horribly managed. ELECT A NEW BART BOARD OF DIRECCTORS; TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!!!! SCREW E-BART AND JOEL KELLER.
