Purse Snatching in Downtown Concord on Friday Night

A woman had her purse snatched and was assaulted by a thug in downtown Concord on Friday.

Here’s the story, from the victim’s daughter….

BE AWARE OF A PURSE SNATCHER!!!!!! Downtown Concord. My mom just got mugged walking down the stairway of the parking garage on the corner of Salvio & Galindo. Right by the patio of Skipolini’s. The guy grabbed her purse, which she fought to hold on to & dragged her down the cement stairs. PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!!! HE DROVE AWAY IN A RED OLDER MODEL HONDA OR TOYOTA. HE WAS WEARING RED PANTS & A WHITE LONG SLEEVE.

The victim was injured, but her injuries are not life-threatening.

Be safe.

Description of the perp?

13 Erin July 19, 2014 at 9:09 AM

The ‘man’ who attacked her was white or light skinned Hispanic.

14 Aunt Sue July 19, 2014 at 9:13 AM

Hope she is okay. Some people are such a$$holes!

15 Throw your valuables July 19, 2014 at 9:27 AM

Throw your valuables at him and run and scream. What chance does a woman have against a male mugger (or female, for that matter)? Get out of there and make as much noise as you can!

Mail stolen again last night up and down court lane.
Wondering if this is same Honda that was stealing mail last week in area.

So sad to hear this. Hope your mom is ok. Do they have video cameras around that area that may have captured this POS coming or going from the parking garage.

CPD was too busy with the dui sweep to be troubled with this

Tell Mama always let her purse go. Everything can be replaced, but she can’t be.
Hope they catch this scouondrel fast!

Parking garage stairways are not safe in this day and age of entitlement!

I favor the death penalty for thieves and muggers.

Length of time between arrest and execution?

However long it takes to draw a crowd.

Hanging would be preferable to a firing squad due to danger of bullets passing through the perp.

I am really very sorry too hear about your Mother………I tell my wife all the time to not park in parking garages .
Even if it take 30 minutes longer to circle the block several times to find an open spot to park in a visible area.
I am 6’3” 270 lbs and I make sure I am on guard when I use stair wells and elevators in doggie , dark or closed in area’s.

I sure hope your Mother is OK ,both physically and mentally……….that had of scared the crap out of her.
I pray karma catches up very quickly too this little prison PUNK.

I wish I could of been there to help , in my own special way !!!!!

That the problem with DUI (Dumb Undergo Idiots) check point because, once the crooks know what is going on, they take advantage of committing more crimes. They either read the DUI warning on Claycord or saw the DUI check point somewhere and the snatchers will just go for it because they know the police are too busy with the DUI check point.

DUI will continue to waste more money on letting the suspects on the lose and thats a good way to make the city safeless.

24 Atticus Thraxx July 19, 2014 at 3:09 PM

Hey Duck, I gotta go downtown this evening, can I hire you as an escort? Six three and 270……yep that oughta do it ;)

25 Erin July 19, 2014 at 3:18 PM

My mom would have let her purse go, but the way she had it on her person, she was basically tied to it. Hence why the jerk was able to pull her a few steps. Breaking two of her ribs. She WAS screaming at the too of her lungs for help and to call 911. Even after the jerk took off- NOT ONE PERSON ON THE PATIO OF SKIPOLINIS CAME TO HELP HER. Not cool.

26 Erin July 19, 2014 at 3:26 PM

And I’d like to add that CPD was there in minutes and were very kind and helpful to my Mom. As were the AMAZING ladies at High-Tech Nail Salon. They called 911. They gave her water. They called me.

27 Duck July 19, 2014 at 3:29 PM

@Concordejet

Yeah right ,like there would’ve been a cop patrolling the stair well instead of looking for drunks . Get real !

28 Cat July 19, 2014 at 3:36 PM

Duck…we wish you had been there as well. Apparently there were people who saw/heard this going on and DID NOTHING to help…not during or after the attack. If people want to curb this kind of behavior they need to stop blaming law enforcement for not being there and start stepping up to take back their communities. If one person had approached this situation, I’m sure the perp would have run off and maybe my cousin would not have been injured.

29 Concordejet July 19, 2014 at 4:04 PM

@Duck

True man but, still people are still complaining about the money being spent on the DUI check point rather than trying to catch the real criminals. That wold of had been a good ideal for cops to patrol the stair way at the garage.

30 @Concordejet July 19, 2014 at 4:45 PM

Looks like you finally beat Elwood for the idiotic post award. Congratulations!

31 Silva July 19, 2014 at 5:24 PM

Oh, now I read that other people were nearby and didn’t come to the aid of this person getting mugged by a punk a$$? That’s almost equally disturbing.

32 Silva July 19, 2014 at 5:28 PM

#30, that may be, but her posts generally FAR surpass Elwood’s in the entertainment category.

33 . July 19, 2014 at 5:43 PM

When they catch the dirt bag take him back up to the top of the parking structure, perhaps he can fly.

34 Good heart July 19, 2014 at 6:19 PM

Fits the description of jerks stealing mail and burglaries around Clayton and Concord! Let’s put a stop to them and all this BS ASAP! Note to people, if you hear someone yelling for help, get involved, that could very well be a relative, or next time they may make it to your relative! Sad!

35 Annie July 19, 2014 at 7:52 PM

The lady that got mugged is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Soft spoken and always helpful. Hope to see you back on your feet soon. Take care

36 Annie July 19, 2014 at 7:53 PM

We do have bats. Erin

37 Erin July 19, 2014 at 11:30 PM

Yes, Annie we do. ;) thank you all for your kind words. My mom is in pain, but will be ok. As for the guy who did this… Let’s find him. !
