Drivers on Willow Pass Road between Galindo and Mira Vista in downtown Concord should expect delays over the next seven weeks as crew replace a sewer line on the south side of the street. The project is due to start Monday, July 14 with a target completion date of Friday, Aug. 29.

Work will be conducted from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Willow Pass Road will be open to traffic during construction with lane closures to accommodate the project.

The City is in the process of replacing the sewer lines in the downtown area. Many of the lines are clay pipe from the ‘40s and ‘50s, and are undersized or failing. The project is being funded through the City’s Sewer Enterprise Fund.

Great. With the terrible light timing on Galido, headed towards Willow Pass, this promises to be a nightmare.

Why would they do this type of construction during peak hours instead of non peak hours, but happy to hear they’ve stopped neglecting the pipes.

@young1: because the work would be much more expensive. While work will be conducted between 8 and 6, typically lane closures will only be allowed between 9 and 4 or something.
