July 8, 2014 8:00 am · 55 comments

Pleasant Hill Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday night around 11pm near the intersection of Camelback Rd. & Chollo Ct.

Police say the suspect, a black male adult in his early 20s with a heavy build, attacked a man from behind while he was walking on Camelback.

The victim was thrown to the ground, punched, and robbed, police said.

The suspect fled the area as a passenger in a black American made sports car.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pleasant Hill Police.

Too easy. I’ll let someone else say it…..

2 Hello July 8, 2014 at 9:06 AM

@ 1. I’m w ya but the masses will be calling you a racist. Even though it’s often the same type robbing others. Just sayin…

This is why everyone needs to wear glasses with mirrors in them. I never leave home without them… Especially in a very dangerous area like camelback rd in pleasant hill

To attack a man is cowardly. To attack a man from behind is lower than low . I hope that they catch this piece of filth……

The usual suspects?

6 RANDOM TASK July 8, 2014 at 9:24 AM

ahhh the dems have made a wonderful state for us to be victimized

7 ClayDen July 8, 2014 at 9:27 AM

Since there are only two American made sports cars, was it a Viper or a Corvette?

8 @RANDOM TASK July 8, 2014 at 9:31 AM

Yes! We would all be better off if the country were run by Republicans who only care about their guns and themselves!

9 WC July 8, 2014 at 9:40 AM

We need some additional bill written to assist with providing a path to productive lives for those less fortunate. This young gentlemen doesn’t feel he has a future so he attacked and robbed someone. If we had the money to create some programs / activities to provide him a sense that he has a real future as a productive member of the community. I may send a letter to Bonilla requesting a new bill.

Then again, maybe this no good POS, never had a proper upbringing, likes getting his welfare checks, getting high and acting like a gangster. He never plans to change as he knows he’ll just get his hand slapped or spend a little vacation in the can and then back out on the streets. He’ll hoist an old english 800 and toast the criminal friendly state!

10 Jackson Hammer July 8, 2014 at 9:44 AM

I’m sure he ran off to buy phone cards or gift cards with his new stolen cards so he can sell them in Oakland or Bay Point. Damn street trash.

11 PH Homeowner July 8, 2014 at 9:56 AM

It sure seems like there are a lot of these incidents down by Camelback these days. I guess it’s easy pickings with the freeway 2 minutes away.

12 Michelle July 8, 2014 at 10:01 AM

I have to agree with you, WC, school, trade school, adult education programs. We have too many tax bills these days that take away from youth program funding, especially the after school and summer programs.

13 Smart,Goodlooking&Debonaire July 8, 2014 at 10:12 AM

I hope this doesnt prevent us from embracing our section 8 community, and the rich diversity they bring us!

14 Smart,Goodlooking&Debonaire July 8, 2014 at 10:22 AM

more importantly, was anyone offended during the commission of this crime? the lefties want to know!

15 What security July 8, 2014 at 10:24 AM

Who the hell goes for a walk at 11pm on trail? He was prey or was doing a drug deal and got robbed.

16 Marianne July 8, 2014 at 10:26 AM

That one is a real winner…

17 Moneypenny July 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM

Martin Luther King would be appalled at what he had sacrificed his life for. Playing the race card while living the thug life doesn’t cut it……….

18 Mary July 8, 2014 at 10:35 AM

This is why people are worried about blacks moving into the neighborhood.
Crime goes up when they move in. It is just a statistical fact. Look at West Oakland, Richmond or just any other city with heavy concentrations of blacks.
They should listen to Bill Cosby and follow his advice.

19 Darwin July 8, 2014 at 10:41 AM

@Smart, Goodlooking&Debonaire

You get the big picture! It’s never their fault! Society has failed to help these people. With an education and command of the english language anyone can do anything they want with a little hard work..I’m tired of excuses. Anyone can get an education it’s called student loans. I hope no one was offended during the commision of this e-mail, especially our diverse section 8 housing community.

20 Marianne July 8, 2014 at 10:48 AM

I’m more concerned about the thin scary white guy with glasses down the street. He looks like a baby eater.

21 Smart,Goodlooking&Debonaire July 8, 2014 at 10:51 AM

@Darwin,#19: amen brother!

22 Smart,Goodlooking&Debonaire July 8, 2014 at 11:08 AM

@Marianne,#20: I invite you to move to an area with diversity more to your liking. Might I suggest Oakland, Pittsburg, Richmond or Antioch?
LOL!!!

23 The Mamba July 8, 2014 at 11:36 AM

You guys are bringing up some good points, this guy definitely is suffering from a lack of after school options. Hopefully, Ms. Bonilla can either set aside some tax dollars for grown adults with impulse control issues or at the very least make it illegal to walk after 10:30.

24 Sollution July 8, 2014 at 11:44 AM

Scenario #2 – Black dude “attempts” to rob man, instead man draws pistol, shoots dead said POS.

Results –

No other future victims
Hundreds and thousands saved on supporting POS in the prison system
Future POS will think twice before robbing someone knowing that the robbery may be their last

Uh, there are many disabled and elderly people on “Section 8″, as you call it. I am on “Section 8″ and am offended by your comment. This has been the second time in the past few days this same comment has been made. I need to educate people I guess.

CRIME IS EVERYWHERE…
I GUESS ITS NOT JUST IN THE EAST COUNTY
RICHMOND , OAKLAND ,
ITS A CRIME OF OPPORTUNITY.. IF THERE IS AN UNSUSPECTING PERSON NOT PAYING ATTENTION WELL THEN YOUR GOING TO BE THE NEXT VICTIM… THE ECONOMY AND LOSS OF JOBS AND OVER POPULATED JAILS , MAKE THE CRIME FAR LESS THEN WHAT IT SEEMS… AS IN NO HARSH SENTENCES,OR JAIL TIME, THROW THEM BACK AND SEE IF THEY KILL SOMEONE IF THEY DO THEN THEY MIGHT LOCK THEM UP…THEN ALL OF US GOOD FOLKS CAN SUPPORT THE POS WHILE HES IN JAIL……. GREAT JUSTICE SYSTEM…….WORKS WELL……..

SORRY…..GOOD DAY

Upper Camelback is a crummy neighborhood… bunch of dopers and meth heads.

28 Marianne July 8, 2014 at 12:11 PM

Smart, Goodlooking, Debonair
You are so very considerate. :-) Thank you, but I enjoy where I live now. The crime rate is tremendously low and my neighbors are fabulous!

29 Sister Carlene July 8, 2014 at 12:18 PM

The real issue is good parenting. This robber never was not taught to respect others or the law. He has no conscience. Something went wrong in his home
and his upbringing to make him become so evil.
Too many people having babies, but don’t want to rear a child or give them love and this is the result.

30 The Mamba July 8, 2014 at 12:26 PM

FORMER CONCORD RESIDENT your caps lock is on.

31 Mailmanmike July 8, 2014 at 12:43 PM

drug deal…

32 PHILTHYphresh July 8, 2014 at 12:56 PM

The real issue is parenting and that goes for dog owners too. Parenting is dictated by the government now. Kids are nonpunishable and know no values. Is government the issue then? No one takes time anymore to do the right thing anyways, but we all seek the causes of these issues. Mayne we need some prescription pills? It takes at least 3 generations to make a real change, whether it be in Oakland, or Concord, or elsewhere.

35 Darwin July 8, 2014 at 1:58 PM

@ Green #25
You are the minority on section 8 housing. The majority have been on it for generations and have no desire to improve themselves. One welfare recipient, once told me, “I got’s to get mine!”

36 Silva July 8, 2014 at 2:09 PM

39 Diablo July 8, 2014 at 3:20 PM

That area is a great target, lots of Asian students all through there that walk between DVC and Safeway. For the scumbags it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

” the suspect, a black male adult in his early 20s”

Now THERE’S a surprise!

I like Timmy’s solution.
The story is a bit sketchy …hmmm

42 Gun Lovers: Broken Records July 8, 2014 at 5:26 PM

It’s exhausting hearing the same old comments being trotted out about how having a gun will prevent or deter these kinds of muggings. These scum work on the element of surprise. You could be the fastest, most accurate gun in the West, but if this guy wants to stalk and jump you from behind, or abush you, do you think you have a fighting chance? It all boils down to split seconds and it seems like the Ninja mugger or street-smart ambusher would have the advantage.

Also, packing a gun gives a person a false sense of security. That gun-toter might take a late-night stroll in an area that unarmed people would avoid, just because they figure they can whip out their Big Bad Weapon.

The lack of logic amazes me sometimes.

43 PO'd July 8, 2014 at 5:31 PM

Darwin #35 is dead on-there are some people on sec 8 that got there by circumstance, and that was the intention of the law-to help those who need it. However, my money says that if you look into the history of the criminals roaming freely looking for the next victim, you would find an overwhelming amount of young African males that have been raised by a sec 8 “parent”.
We all know the game: mom’s a baby factory (70% born out of wedlock) getting welfare, adc, food stamps, and then complaining that it isn’t enough.
She is in no shape to be a parent. Her son grows up to be the next homey to suck the system dry. These “folks” ( a favorite white house term) have completely bought in to the lie that they deserve the money, and should get more! Reparations for slavery is always the reasoning.
Now for the real bad news: its only going to get worse here as the Socialist-democrats want a welfare state-it’s all about control. There is no hope for California as currently constructed, and it isn’t likely to change.
But the weather is great!!

44 RAPIDRATE July 8, 2014 at 8:35 PM

You are seeing more and more stories like this in Claycord because of Eric holder, Obama, and the federal governments plan to “force diversify America” using H.U.D. (housing authority). Hope all you good Obama liberals are enjoying the “cultural enrichment”… Now I wonder if adding A few thousand more illegal immigrants to the area will make things better?? I mean, What could possibly go wrong??? LOL

45 Mark Lovin July 8, 2014 at 9:27 PM

“The suspect fled the area as a passenger in a black American made sports car.”

How do they know the sports car was made by a black American?

There! I said it!

46 @Rapidrate #44 July 8, 2014 at 11:48 PM

Please explain something to the group here.

I’m assuming you’re referring to the HUD program called “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing,” however – and this is critical – it is a PROPOSED REGULATION only right now and nothing has been implemented following the close of the public comment period last September.

Since this is in the planning stages only, please connect the dots for us, oh wise winger, and explain why you say we are seeing more and more stories like this now (I’m assuming you mean reports of out-of-control young black males victimizing suburbanites). Something’s missing here.

Also, why do you automatically assume the black guy’s an “outsider” who’s been somehow emboldened by the news that Obama and Holder, et al. are going to give the green light to ghetto thugs to move into “our territory.” Is it possible this guy grew up around here? Or are all young black guys scary ghetto rats?

My takeaway from your comment is that you’re a flaming racist who probably doesn’t miss a Rush Limbaugh broadcast.

47 futurama July 9, 2014 at 7:57 AM

Black dude committs a crime 46 comments white dude 17, the yokels here sure like keeping there heads in the ground when they can’t make asssinine comments :/

“Or are all young black guys scary ghetto rats?”

Pretty much.

49 Atticus Thraxx July 9, 2014 at 2:57 PM

Don’t be scared Elwood. I spoke to the blacks, you’re okay.

50 RAPID RATE July 9, 2014 at 7:13 PM

@ 46 What a surprise anytime I speak a little truth I get called A “racist” by some liberal D bag on Claycord. Anyway how do you think Antioch ca became the #81 most dangerous city in america?? Its Because of mass expansion of section 8 housing paid for by the government, witch forces in a bunch of ghetto trash from Oakland and Richmond, as well as illegal immigrants, who bring with them violence and crime, witch in turn destroys the cities they live in. I grew up in concord, and just 10 years ago, I don’t remember seeing the same “youths” with their pants hanging off their asses walking up and down Clayton road all hours of the day that I see in concord now. That didn’t happen by accident, they have drastically expanded the government subsidized section 8 housing all over contra cost county. Now concord is starting to go the way of Antioch. Its funny to me the government calls their HUD plan “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing”??! Who is this plan fair too exactly??? Is it fair to good Americans that just want to live, and raise their families in a safe community???……..What A joke!

51 @Elwood July 9, 2014 at 7:15 PM

Thank goodness for the anonymity of your computer keyboard – the better to cover up your cowardly and ugly bigotry, huh? People like you make my stomach turn.

52 Elwood July 9, 2014 at 9:57 PM

Just telling it like it is.

If you don’t like it, too bad for you.

53 Smart,Goodlooking&Debonaire July 9, 2014 at 10:11 PM

Dats racisss!

54 Dennis July 9, 2014 at 10:48 PM

@#42 you don’t know guns from shoelaces, right? You also don’t understand probability; I bet you think Russian Roulette is your favorite game, too!

Russian Roulette probability:
with 1 round loaded, your chances of killing yourself are 1/6 (about 18%), each time you play.

with 2 rounds loaded, your chances of killing yourself are 1/3 (about 33%), each time you play.

with 3 rounds loaded, your chances of killing yourself are 1/2 (50%), each time you play.

with 4 rounds loaded, your chances of killing yourself are 2/3 (about 67%), each time you play.

Now, in States where Concealed Carry is allowed, only about 5% actually carry a gun.

Q: What are the odds that at least one person will have a gun, in a group of 7 people (spree shooting), or 7 attacks on individuals (like the typical robbery), if 5% has CCW?

A: 30.166% … sorta like playing Russian Roulette with 2 bullets chambered.

Q: What are the odds that at least one person will have a gun, in a group of 14 people (spree shooting), or 14 attacks on individuals (like the typical robbery), if 5% has CCW?

A: 51.233% … sorta like playing Russian Roulette with 3 bullets chambered.

Q: What are the odds that at least one person will have a gun, in a group of 22 people (spree shooting), or 22 attacks on individuals (like the typical robbery), if 5% has CCW?

A: 67.647% … sorta like playing Russian Roulette with 4 bullets chambered.

Maybe you are that stupid, but even the dumbest criminals aren’t.

In States that allow CCW, confrontational crime soon vanishes. The criminals either go elsewhere, or change to non-confrontational crimes (like stealing your prized 8-track tape out of your car parked at BART).

Of course there are a few who try anyway … and they wind up in a coffin. Either way, problem solved.

But hey, don’t let reality deter you from your anti-gun nonsense rants.

55 Dennis July 9, 2014 at 10:52 PM

correction: 18% should read 16.67%
