The only surprise here is that no one was hurt.

As a resident who lives 60 Seconds from Detroit Ave IT DOES NOT SUPRISE ME. Old Apts filled with Drug Dealers and Anchor Babies. I see a lot of Fast food workers etc. Babies too. only a matter of time until someone dies. I am the minority as a white male.

@ # 8 I am curious are you leaving Martinez? Or Concord?

10 Just me June 29, 2014 at 6:17 PM

@Asprin- yea. Because more gun laws are totally going to be obeyed by people that do drive-by’s and I’m sure if somehow it was decided that all guns would be destroyed they’d be the first ones in line to turn theirs in

After 26 years, we are leaving Concord.
Going north, say good riddance all you want,
But I’ll be thinking of you as I walk the quiet
streets at sunset, and get from one end of
a city the size of concord In one third the time.
I could go on but that would be cruel.

12 NoMoreFreeRide June 29, 2014 at 6:44 PM

If landlords enforced occupancy rules we’d have a third less people in Concord.

13 this must be..... June 29, 2014 at 9:01 PM

be a mistake. Why Detroit Ave only had hard working good families living on it………….And remember Concord doesn’t have a gang issue.
@ NoMoreFreeRide – to hell with landlords why doesn’t the damn Fire Marshal do something about the over occupancy. Have that many people crammed into small apartments is fire disaster waiting to happen Oh wait being packed into places like sardines is part of their “culture” and God forbid out rules and laws might offend them

14 @11 June 29, 2014 at 10:49 PM

I was getting ready to move up north until I found out that is where the real meth heads live. Good luck

this is what happens in “sanctuary cities” Perhaps its time to enforce the LAW and stop these illegals from propagating. That would be nice for a change.

16 Counting June 29, 2014 at 11:12 PM

I am not saying there aren’t problems.
But the state we will be living has fewer
people than San Jose . Fewer people,
Fewer problems.
nowhere is perfect, but some places are
Better than others. My patience with certain
types is running low, and I don’t want to deal
with it any longer .

I just wish the police would be allowed to pull cars over for fix it issues like they use decades ago (now some bozos would call it profiling). As teenagers on Clayton Road it was done all Friday and Saturday night – this kept order. Can you imagine how many cars in the monument area could be pulled over and checked out. Expired registration, burned out lights, illegal modifications (un-safe wheels that are too big for the car) …. By enforcing the letter of the law all over that area – the hoods will not be able to hood around.

Mad about the outcome of the soccer game?
I know a grey honda, 20′s driver. I would hope he was smart enough not to do this close to home. I agree about the sardine stacking, it is unsafe.
