Please use this post to talk about politics, and keep politics out of the “whatever” thread.

Thank you, and be kind to each other!

Larry, Curly, and Moe always claim confusion over opposing authors of comments. Claiming one author, or reinvented avatar/id’s, they avoid the content and focus on “ad hominy” attacks.

Why do this?

It is a simple-minded effort to distract and defuse attention from the content that provokes deep thought and new knowledge.

Republicans hate information and education, like Common Core testing, public education, and sources like

Pew: 54,200 newspaper, magazine jobs axed since 2003

The decade-long decline of print news business, crushed by the sagging economy, evaporation of classified and display advertising, and a reader shift to digital media, has cost at least 54,200 newsroom jobs in newspapers and magazines alone.

Commenter: “The Washington Post is currently hiring reporters because Jeff Bezos is pouring in money to turn it around. The Post is overwhelmed with applications.

The people who work for the Washington Post still have a very low opinion of Jeff Bezos and are constantly denigrating him. I had to tell one woman that Bezos’ wealth and willingness to spend it on the Post is all that stands between her and unemployment.

She responded that her job should be subsidized by the public because working for a newspaper is a form of public service.

I have heard similar opinions from people who formerly worked for the Baltimore Sun.

These people have completely lost touch with reality. It’s scary that they have such influence on our governance.”

“When Andrew tried to log onto the National Rifle Association’s website, he realized there was a problem – a big problem.

“Their website was blocked,” he told me. Andrew decided to try the Second Amendment Foundation’s website. That too, was blocked.

His curiosity got the best of him – so Andrew tried logging on to several pro-gun control websites. Imagine his surprise when he discovered the pro-gun control websites were not blocked.

He soon discovered that he had unfettered access to liberal websites, but conservative websites were blocked.

For example, the Connecticut Republican Party website was blocked. The Connecticut Democratic Party website was not blocked. National Right to Life was blocked, but Planned Parenthood was not blocked. Connecticut Family, a pro-traditional marriage group, was blocked, but LGBT Nation was not blocked.

Andrew found that even Pope Francis was blocked from the school’s web service. But although he could not access the Vatican website, the school allowed him to access an Islamic website.

The National Rifle Association, Red State,, National Right to Life, Second Amendment Foundation, Paul Ryan for Congress, Town Hall,,, and are just some of the websites the school blocked.”

“(Reuters) – The United States on Thursday cut aid to Uganda, imposed visa restrictions and canceled a regional military exercise in response to a Ugandan law that imposes harsh penalties on homosexuality.

The White House said in a statement the measures were intended to “reinforce our support for human rights of all Ugandans regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Homosexuality is taboo in most African countries and illegal in 37, including in Uganda where it has been a crime since British rule.

Uganda is a key Western ally in the fight against Islamic extremism in Somalia, where Ugandan troops for the backbone of the African Union force battling al Qaeda-aligned militants.

“Uganda is a sovereign country and can never bow to anybody or be blackmailed by anybody on a decision it took in its interests, even if it involves threats to cut off all financial assistance,” government spokesman Ofwono Opondo said.”

Obama destroys another alliance. So when is he going to do the same to all the Islamic countries, who also forbid homosexuality? Or the other 37 African countries?

“As many as 75 scientists working in U.S. federal government laboratories in Atlanta may have been exposed to live anthrax bacteria and are being offered treatment to prevent infection, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday.

“The potential exposure occurred after researchers working in a high-level biosecurity laboratory at the agency’s Atlanta campus FAILED TO FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURES TO INACTIVATE THE BACTERIA. They then transferred the samples, WHICH MAY HAVE CONTAINED LIVE BACTERIA, to lower-security CDC labs not equipped to handle live anthrax.

“Dr Paul Meechan, director of the environmental health and safety compliance office at the CDC, said the agency discovered the potential exposure on the evening of Friday, June 13, [ironic*]and immediately began contacting individuals working in the labs WHO MAY HAVE UNKNOWINGLY HANDLED LIVE ANTHRAX BACTERIA.

“No employee has shown any symptoms of anthrax illness,” Meechan told Reuters.

“Meechan said the normal incubation period can take up to five to seven days, though there are documented cases of the illness occurring some 60 days after exposure.”

– Does the term “Bio warfare laboratory” mean anything to you? CDC means Center for Disease Control, perhaps not eradication.

Labels matter…if only the people of this country, Republicans and Democrats combined, ever paid attention to the REAL news; we would see what is really going on…

CDC’s primary function is to explore bio-warfare, and to detect any signs of bio-warfare, as in epidemics…immediate detection required…and recent announcements of whooping cough, SARS, and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), are great examples of your government in action!

It’s not about healthy living…it’s about asymetrical warfare techinques and applications.

This news should encourage funding by the House of Representitives and the Senate Hawks like Lindsey Graham, and John McCain.

No more resisting vaccines…maybe the required school vaccines include anthrax protection…?

#415 It took five months to undo the vandalism inflicted by the Clinton staffers upon their old offices. Phone lines were cut or rerouted, equipment was stolen or damaged, locks were filled with glue, computer networks were sabotaged. The carpets were damaged beyond repair and the walls were covered in graffiti. In the freaking White House, this happened. The incoming administration were prevented from transitioning in until June. Some would say that was an example of Clinton Administration policies contributing to 9/11.

432 Aspirin June 19, 2014 at 10:58 PM

@Dennis #418: You stated “public schools are not providing education, they are providing Socialist indoctrination. Using our tax dollars” which is, of course pure ultra-right wing propaganda. Are ALL public schools providing “Socialist indoctrination”?

“Accounts that departing Clinton administration officials destroyed office equipment and committed other acts of vandalism in the White House during the presidential transition were significantly overblown, a manager at the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, said yesterday.

The General Services Administration found nothing unusual about the condition of White House offices after Clinton officials left, and President Bush’s staff said it had no records that indicated damage or subsequent repair work, the accounting office manager said.

Bernie Ungar, director of physical infrastructure at the agency, said inquiries he made at the request of Rep. Bob Barr, R-Ga., led him to conclude that Clinton officials might have engaged in pranks during the transition, but did not cause major damage.

“My sense is there probably (were) some phones pulled or whatever; I don’t have a way to determine that,” Ungar said, referring to accounts that office lines had been cut. “But there wasn’t indication of real, significant, widespread damage.””

Conservatives love to blame others for their own incompetence. Personal responsibility is lost on them.

435 Connie Dobbs June 19, 2014 at 11:57 PM

No, it happened:

White House Vandalized In Transition, G.A.O. Finds
Published: June 12, 2002

The General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, said today that ”damage, theft, vandalism and pranks did occur in the White House complex” in the presidential transition from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush. The agency put the cost at $13,000 to $14,000, including $4,850 to replace computer keyboards, many with damaged or missing W keys.

Some of the damage, it said, was clearly intentional. Glue was smeared on desk drawers. Messages disparaging President Bush were left on signs and in telephone voice mail. A few of the messages used profane or obscene language.

”A Secret Service report documented the theft of a presidential seal that was 12 inches in diameter from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building,” next to the White House, on Jan. 19, 2001, the accounting office said.

Six White House employees told investigators that they had seen graffiti derogatory to Mr. Bush on the wall of a stall in a men’s room. Other White House employees saw a sticker in a filing cabinet that said, ”Jail to the thief,” implying that Mr. Bush had stolen the 2000 election. The report said all these employees were members of the current White House, but did not make clear whether any had also worked in the Clinton White House.

The accounting office said similar pranks were reported in prior transitions, including the one from Mr. Bush’s father to Mr. Clinton in 1993. ”We were unable to conclude,” it said, ”whether the 2001 transition was worse than previous ones.”

The accounting office interviewed more than 100 government employees, but said it could not establish who was responsible for the damage and the pranks.

”Any intentional damage at the White House complex, which is a national treasure, is both inappropriate and a serious matter,” the report said. ”The theft of or willful damage to government property would constitute a criminal act.”

The investigation was undertaken in response to a request from Representative Bob Barr, Republican of Georgia, one of Mr. Clinton’s harshest critics. ”The Clinton administration treated the White House worse than college freshmen checking out of their dorm rooms,” Mr. Barr said today.

The Bush White House was deeply disappointed with the report. Alberto R. Gonzales, counsel to President Bush, had demanded that the accounting office provide more detail, including the full text of graffiti and other messages that were ”especially offensive or vulgar.”

The accounting office said such details were unnecessary and inappropriate. But Bush administration officials said the details would have revealed the ”mind-set or intentions” of Clinton administration pranksters. Moreover, in a response much longer than the actual report, the Bush administration said, ”It appears that the G.A.O. has undertaken a concerted effort to downplay the damage found in the White House complex.”

In several instances, it appears, Clinton and Bush administration officials simply disagreed about the normal condition of federal offices. Bush officials said they had found offices full of trash, broken furniture and filthy carpets. Clinton administration officials insisted that the dirt and damage reflected normal wear and tear.

The accounting office confirmed that $9,324 had been spent to repair or replace various items and to clean offices. That included $4,850 for 62 keyboards, $2,040 for 26 cellphones and $1,150 for professional cleaning. In addition, the White House and the General Services Administration estimated that it cost $3,750 to $4,675 to replace missing doorknobs, medallions and office signs and the large presidential seal, the accounting office said.

Julia M. Payne, a spokeswoman for Mr. Clinton, referred questions to Jennifer Palmieri, a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee.

”The real scandal here,” Ms. Palmieri said, ”is how much time and money the Republicans have wasted in a vendetta against the Clinton administration. It’s troubling that the White House cooperated so enthusiastically with this investigation, but refused to provide the G.A.O. with records of the energy task force headed by Vice President Cheney.”

Anne Womack, a spokeswoman for Mr. Bush, said: ”The G.A.O. confirmed that damage was done at the White House. We have considered this matter closed for more than a year. Our focus is on moving forward.”

To minimize damage in future transitions, the accounting office said, the government should inspect office space, furniture and equipment of departing White House employees and penalize those who willfully deface federal property.

Paying The Price Of Obama’s Iraq Retreat

The jihadist revival is the result of a double Obama abdication: creating a vacuum not just in Iraq but in Syria.

Obama dithered and speech-ified during the early days of the Syrian revolution, before the jihadists arrived. A jihadist enclave (including remnants of the once-routed al-Qaida in Iraq) developed in large swaths of northern and eastern Syria.

They thrived on massive outside support while the secular revolutionaries foundered waiting vainly for American help.

Faced with a de facto jihadi state spanning both countries, a surprised Obama now has little choice but to try to re-create overnight, from scratch and in miniature, the kind of U.S. presence — providing intelligence, tactical advice and perhaps even air support — he abandoned three years ago.

Sending 300 military advisers is the beginning of that re-creation — a pale substitute but the only option Obama has left.

The leverage Obama forfeited will be hard to reclaim.

But it’s our only chance to keep Iraq out of the hands of the Sunni jihadists of ISIS and the Shiite jihadists of Tehran.

Prosecutors claim Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was at the center of a plan to illegally coordinate fundraising with an array of outside conservative groups to help him and several Republican senators survive a 2012 recall election, newly released records show.

In the documents unsealed Thursday, prosecutors from five Wisconsin counties allege an effort by Walker and top aides to circumvent state law and raise money and plan spending by a dozen outside groups during the election.

The prosecutors’ filings include a quote from an e-mail in which Walker tells Republican strategist Karl Rove that a top campaign aide, R.J. Johnson, was leading the coordination effort and praises Johnson’s work

“Bottom line: R.J. helps keep in place a team that is wildly successful in Wisconsin,” prosecutors say Walker wrote in the May 4, 2011, e-mail. “We are running nine recall elections and it will be like running nine congressional markets in every market in the state.”

JOHNSON ALSO WAS A TOP ADVISER TO WISCONSIN CLUB FOR GROWTH, one of the organizations helping to fight the recall. Prosecutors claimed Johnson USED THE CLUB HAS A HUB for coordinating political activities of Walker’s campaign and other groups, including the Republican Governors Association and Americans for Prosperity, a national group TIED TO BILLIONAIRE INDUSTRIALISTS CHARLES AND DAVID KOCH.

– The Koch “conspiracy theory” rises up again!

The allegations were made by the county prosecutors as part of their long-running probe into the political activities of Walker’s campaign and outside groups during the recall election.

459 Less Safe For Decades June 20, 2014 at 12:00 PM

“By doing prisoner exchanges, Obama proves he can close Gitmo at any time.”
History will show obama administration and previous were shallow thinkers who ignored long term consequences of their actions.

Bush Sr. and Reagan had the sense to leave command and control intact in Libya and Iraq. The duffus twins (bush Jr. / obama) wasted money and lives in the middle east and both made things worse, long term.

Thousands of surface to air missiles have gone missing from both Libya and Iraq. Was reported 400 were stolen by terrorists during Benghazi attack. Shelf life is 20 – 25 years on them.

The world is far less safe and will be for decades.
Terrorists are using YouTube to show off weapons they have.
Note size and how easy they’d be to smuggle across our southern border.

#452 “Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay, right?”

Angelo learned that The Log Cabin Republicans and the Metroplex Republicans were denied a space on the convention floor because their groups “do not embody the party’s platform.” More specifically, they do not embody one part of the party’s platform that claims “homosexuality tears at the fabric of society.”

“I would guess that most Republicans wouldn’t even know that language exists in the platform, let alone support it… ” Angelo said.

Spencer Yeldell, the Communications Director for the Texas GOP, told Breitbart Texas, “Yes we have denied them a booth, but we deny booths to any organizations that actively oppose the party platform, such as groups that support gambling and the legalization of marijuana.” He added that the members of the Log Cabin Republicans and Metroplex Republicans “are welcome to attend as guests.”

Obama administration now says it will take new measures to expedite the removal of illegal immigrant children.
Appears the use of children to push democrat amnesty plans hasn’t worked and in long run may actually backfire on democrats with Hispanic voters.
Wonder how many news stories there will be detailing how pimps and pedophiles are preying on released illegals?

@462. I agree. The thought of Hilary running in 2016 is enough to give me panic attacks.

As well it should. Republicans don’t have a viable candidate who can win against her in 2016.
