Air-Raid Sirens throughout CoCo County

June 4, 2014 12:15 pm · 8 comments

Air-raid sirens went off at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill and other locations throughout Contra Costa County at about 11am today, but it was only a test of the emergency alert system.

The sirens went off for 30 seconds, but in a real emergency, the sirens would sound for about three minutes.

This is a monthly test that is conducted on the first Wednesday of each month.

A waste of money since no one can ever hear them. In Antioch unless you are right next to it you cannot hear it either.

What kind of emergency deems use of the siren? Duck and cover, head for the hills, what?
