Claycord – Talk About Whatever

May 23, 2014 22:05 pm · 216 comments

Happy Friday to all the wonderful citizens in the City of Claycord.

This is a post with no subject, you can talk about whatever you want. If breaking news happens (such as an earthquake), or you hear about something newsworthy, feel free to post it here.

There are only two words that describe the meaning of Memorial day

Memorial Day Thanks to all who serve – Past and Present.

My grandfather served in WWI, my father and uncles served in WWII, my cousins served in Korea, my brother and cousins served in Viet Nam, my sons served during the Gulf one, and my niece and another female cousin served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

May there be a day and generation that does not need to serve.

12 MrDuckyWucky May 23, 2014 at 11:31 PM

why do I even bother to type a comment, when its more than likely the powers that be here will decide to delete it.
Reasonable question, do you not agree?

13 Mr. Obivious May 23, 2014 at 11:40 PM

“Many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime.”

YES. I agree your posts should be deleted.

There is a gorgeous Rotweiller. That appears lost at the corner of Willow Pass and Landna. It has a collar and a green tag but won”t let anyone close enough to help it.Poor baby needs help ASAP!

30 Cowellian May 24, 2014 at 10:20 AM

There’s not a whole lot to discuss, and there’s not much use in complaining. We’ve all had posts deleted from time to time. It’s the Mayor’s site, and the Mayor’s rules.

31 qwerty May 24, 2014 at 10:29 AM

Remember the vets this weekend. Don’t forget them, or put them on a fake waiting list, and let them perish. Letting them wait and die is not meeting the minimum standards of this country. Please tell other people that the VA issue needs to be remedied immediately. Stand up for your country. Thank you.

32 qwerty May 24, 2014 at 10:34 AM

I don’t understand why people, are not making the correlation between the bureaucracy that currently runs the VA health care system and the bureaucracy that wants to run our national healthcare system. You better fight for the vets because you are also fighting for your future care. Fix it.

I so agree with you, but the bulletin-board format of this board doesn’t work for conversational postings. A “threaded” style, where comments are posted either separately, or directly under/in response to another post, would allow a more conversational forum.

Why is the US one of the most backward countries in medical science and innovation? Why are approved and proven medical treatments saving lives in Europe while not being available here? We go around the world preaching about our greatness while we cannot implement an effective medical program for our citizens. Read about ABSORB III trials for a new heart treatment. Americans are brainwashed into believing that we are the world leader in just about everything when, in fact, we are not. Europeans were building fast, fuel efficient cars with advanced engineering (like disc brakes and radial tires) while we were building 300 horsepower monsters getting 12 mpg and brakes that would fade after one hard use. Look how long it took us to require seatbelts. Our legal and political systems have us tied up in knots, with graft and corruption stalling progress because the system is broken and corrupt. Our schools are failing. Our kids are not able to read above an elementary level. Math? What’s that? Science? Never heard of it. Religion? Oh we have plenty of that, keeping ourselves in the Stone Age. Until we have an educated population we will continue electing idiots who still believe that the world was “created” in six days.

40 anon May 24, 2014 at 4:39 PM

The kids don’t want to study hard, they windup working poor paying jobs.

41 Jojo Potato May 24, 2014 at 4:41 PM

Uh? because our citizens are idiots worrying more about their “right” to have a gun rather than actual science. And the kids are practicing football instead of studying science and we think we are so smart and guess what we are not. And so many other examples.

42 so true.. May 24, 2014 at 4:57 PM

#39; You didn’t say that in Talk About Politics I hope.

43 Killjoy May 24, 2014 at 5:19 PM

Actually JoJo Potato, there’s quite a bit of science behind how a gun works.
Both semi-automatics and even revolvers. ;)

44 Connie Dobbs May 24, 2014 at 5:31 PM

#36 I read HuffPo. Do you read Judicial Watch?

46 Silva May 24, 2014 at 5:39 PM

In Europe they’ve been paying lots more for gas than us for a very long time, hence the impetus for more economical cars.

47 Connie Dobbs May 24, 2014 at 6:06 PM

“Why is the US one of the most backward countries in medical science and innovation? Why are approved and proven medical treatments saving lives in Europe while not being available here?”

Malpractice lawsuits. They don’t allow them, for the most part.

“Europeans were building fast, fuel efficient cars with advanced engineering (like disc brakes and radial tires) while we were building 300 horsepower monsters getting 12 mpg and brakes that would fade after one hard use. Look how long it took us to require seatbelts”

That’s why we can’t sell cars in Europe.

“Our legal and political systems have us tied up in knots, with graft and corruption stalling progress because the system is broken and corrupt.”

It’s a shame we don’t run our government with the efficiency of Italy, or Greece, or Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland or pick your country in Eastern Europe. We have much to learn from Macedonia.

“Our schools are failing. Our kids are not able to read above an elementary level. Math? What’s that? Science? Never heard of it.”

That you would expect anything more of poor children, or black children, or children who don’t speak English in the home, marks you as a bigot of the lowest order. I’m only still talking to you because I don’t care what people think of me. You should be hounded from your job, driven from your home, and forced to give up all of your financial resources, never to be allowed to earn a living or know a moment’s peace until you get your head right.

“Religion? Oh we have plenty of that, keeping ourselves in the Stone Age.”

You have a point there. We allow honor killings and female genital mutilation. You call it abortion, and you defend the ‘right’ at every turn.

“Until we have an educated population we will continue electing idiots who still believe that the world was “created” in six days.”

Like our President.

48 Connie Dobbs May 24, 2014 at 6:17 PM

A rare chance for the public to see the “glamorizing” of the Pavilion with elected council members. Next Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. a Special meeting of the Concord City Council will meet at Concord Pavilion, 2000 Kirker Pass Road, Concord, CA for a site tour of the Concord Pavilion — commencing by the Box Office. (Source City of Concord web site.)

58 Killjoy May 24, 2014 at 10:10 PM

Atticus, if your calves are large enough for either of those tattoos, I suggest you start attending Weight Watchers meetings with me. I’ve lost 28 pounds in the last 16 weeks.

59 Aspirin May 24, 2014 at 10:11 PM

Abbott Labs’ ABSORB III is currently in clinical trials in the US. This new technology for heart patients may replace the conventional metal stents currently used. ABSORB III has been in approved general use in Europe and Asia and India for years with great success. As usual, the USA is late to take advantage of new medical technology. Check it out.

60 Atticus Thraxx May 24, 2014 at 10:56 PM

65 jpkiller May 24, 2014 at 11:31 PM

Is censorship a form of media controlled brainwashing?

66 @Qwerty #32 May 25, 2014 at 12:52 AM

“I don’t understand why people, are not making the correlation between the bureaucracy that currently runs the VA health care system and the bureaucracy that wants to run our national healthcare system. You better fight for the vets because you are also fighting for your future care. Fix it.”

How about the fact that the Senate Republicans just last Thursday, right before the very weekend when we honor those who have fought or are currently fighting for our freedom, derailed a bill that would have greatly expanded medical, educational and other benefits for veterans? That would help 22 million veterans and their families? Republican obstructionism is a horrible pox on our land.

67 Silva May 25, 2014 at 6:27 AM

Connie Dobbs, your Meat Loaf reference didn’t make it as far as I can tell. I did want to see it. Or is this another one that went over my head?

68 Anon May 25, 2014 at 6:42 AM

Jaywalkers do it to themselves, i.e. get hit as they walk into traffic.

69 Anon May 25, 2014 at 6:43 AM

What was that horrible music in downtown Clayton yesterday? Sounded like a Mexican protest march.

70 Atticus Thraxx May 25, 2014 at 8:10 AM

Somebody didn’t take their meds. Sorry Connie, I missed it. Don’t know the Meatloaf catalog as well as I should. Throw some Zevon at me I’ll catch it.
Out doing yardwork, Indy 500 on KNBR 1050 and a hot cup of green tea. Yep, this is the life.

71 Killjoy May 25, 2014 at 8:12 AM

@Anon at #69
According to the web site, it was supposed to be an Eagles tribute band.
They call themselves “The Boys of Summer”. Curious as that’s a nod to a Don Henley album. Yes, he’s with The Eagles. I know.
But from your comment, I take it they weren’t any good.

72 Connie Dobbs May 25, 2014 at 8:49 AM

I know, Silva. I have the sadness. I would have thought there were more people in crowd this size who had heard “Bar Room Blitz.” At least Atticus or Killjoy.

The line came to me as if in a vision, and I thought to myself, Today, I have won the internet. Today maybe I should check the stove for a gas leak. Comedy is subjective.

73 Connie Dobbs May 25, 2014 at 8:51 AM

Why are you doing this to us ?
As a Brit and someone who is familiar with the island of Socotra, you might think that I would appreciate this, but I don’t! Nobody does! I was raised on stories of escaped giant spiders that came out of banana crates in the back of the supermarket and terrorized adjacent neighbourhoods.
Keep them away from me!

83 @ Connie # 72 May 25, 2014 at 5:54 PM

Peculiar you should mention that song. I had not heard it in years. Then, oddly enough, I heard it on a AM station while driving through eastern WY a couple of weeks ago. Peculiar coincident.

90 Pissy Dog May 25, 2014 at 8:41 PM

Dirtbag alert!

My dad’s car was burglarized at “The Lazy Dog” restaurant today between 6-6:30pm. Luckily not much value in the items taken. The manager says the only cameras they have watch the counters and basically the employees. The parking lot security admitted that he is useless and only serves as a deterrent (not even pulling that one off). Concord PD wanted nothing to do with it and referred him to file a report online. A witness on a park bench heard the window break but didn’t look to see. Now Pops is driving home to Roseville with a busted window and not much respect for our town.

Come on Concord we can do better!

91 Silva May 26, 2014 at 4:05 AM

Ah hoooooo!

92 Killjoy May 26, 2014 at 7:04 AM

@Pissy Dog
I’m sorry that your dad’s car was broken into.
However I must ask, what did he leave in the car, in plain view, that would cause someone to want to break into his car?
There have been numerous stories or at least comments over the years here on Claycord about vehicles getting broken into in The Willows shopping center, and how ineffective the security guards are there.

93 Silva May 26, 2014 at 8:41 AM

Killjoy, my cell rings with the opening chords of that song. :D! I do also commend your significant loss of weight! That’s no easy feat.

For anyone interested, two words: Wheat Belly.

94 Silva May 26, 2014 at 8:48 AM

95 Killjoy May 26, 2014 at 8:59 AM

My cell phone ring a with “Time of your Life” by Green Day.
I have a specific ring tone for my wife though. It’s “One in a Million” by Eddie and the Tide. A small band out of Santa Cruz.

107 Silva May 26, 2014 at 5:45 PM

Well, my husband says I’m done after only 6 dresses & dressy suits. I went to the Dress Barn in El Cerrito, and a few Rosses; Concord, El Cerrito, & Emeryville. It is his mother. I know she’d have wanted more, but the good news is that I’m done! It wasn’t that hard to find pretty dresses as I imagined.

Collage of litter I picked up on my walk today……..

Dos Equis bottle.

Paper containing Kaiser Medical information, including patient’s medical number, address, phone numbers and all her current medical conditions.
God bless her.
Came home and shredded it.

Apple Juice…juice box.

Empty packet of medical marijuana.

A strip of those annoying coupons from CVS.

Next time, I will bring a small bag with me to pick up all the filters from filtered cigarettes.

112 Shasta Daisy May 26, 2014 at 6:59 PM

Viking Princess, thanks for the restaurant information.
I will definitely give it a try.

116 Babs May 26, 2014 at 10:21 PM

Just read something interesting in San Leandro Times. police have arrested a young man (teenager) for groping two women downtown in the middle of the day. Wasn’t there a story about this in WC or Concord? Might have to call Chief Guy. wonder if the same kid, too strange.

117 @pissy dog May 26, 2014 at 10:50 PM

@pissy dog

That whole shopping complex is known for cars being burglarized, never leave ANYTHING on show in that place, even junk, because they’ll break in and the ‘security’ and management don’t care. Even the gym there has signs on its Windows warning people about what happens……

118 Killjoy May 27, 2014 at 8:52 AM

Silva, I have seen updates from Antler as recently as Saturday on FB, but have not seen anything from ChampagneKitty lately.
I will send them both a note and tell them they have been missed.

119 That was pissy. May 27, 2014 at 9:19 AM

It was so nice of you to rub it in like that, #117, seeing as #92 said the same thing but nicer. It’s always good to jump on the victim though, right?

120 Silva May 27, 2014 at 9:37 AM

Good idea!

121 Antler May 27, 2014 at 10:27 AM

Silva and Killjoy, hi and thanks to both of you for being so sweet. My iPad is down, and I’ve been spending most of the main computer time on photos and such re the college commencements of two granddaughters. Sorry to have caused even the least bit of concern.

I have not heard from ChampagneKitty either, though…Facebook or email. Hope all is well or at least “fair to middling”.

122 Cowellian May 27, 2014 at 10:44 AM

Do I need to do a welfare check on CK? I do drive right past her place twice a day. On my way to and from work.

125 Happy One May 27, 2014 at 12:15 PM

I hope the reason ChampagneKitty is missing is that she’s lost herself in a really good book! :)

126 Silva May 27, 2014 at 12:25 PM

Killjoy that would REALLY be nice. Unless everything’s AOK, and we just make her upset?

127 Silva May 27, 2014 at 12:26 PM

Naw. She’d be glad to see you, and understand.

128 Silva May 27, 2014 at 12:28 PM

129 Killjoy May 27, 2014 at 12:31 PM

I could always tell her I was doing a welfare check on her two kitties. :P
I’m pretty sure she’s mentioned them here before.

130 KAD May 27, 2014 at 12:32 PM

Free ChampagneKitty!

Killjoy – I think it would be nice of you to stop by her place and make sure she is OK. Or someone who has her phone number could check up on her.

131 Pissy Dog May 27, 2014 at 12:44 PM

Bag of candy on the seat and a small lunch pail (soft cooler on the floor).
His car had tinted windows and an alarm. But that’s not a deterrent for dirtbags.

I’m very diligent about not leaving things in plain sight, myself. Half the time I don’t lock my truck or roll the windows up, just to prove a point. I stopped using my alarm after my catalytic converter was stolen (if that won’t set it off nothing will).

132 Silva May 27, 2014 at 12:54 PM

Good of you to check-in, Cowellian!

133 Silva May 27, 2014 at 12:56 PM

Killjoy, that sounds perfect!

134 Marissa May 27, 2014 at 1:13 PM

Glad to hear it. Free ChampagneKitty…

135 jtkatec May 27, 2014 at 1:40 PM

Mr. Mayor,I like your little banner at the top of the page, but forgive someone today, and it’s that kid down in Santa Barbara, but I just can’t. And his parents deserve no forgiveness

136 Silva May 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM

Jtkatec, if you can’t you can’t. This forgiveness stuff isn’t always easy. I feel like Sisyphus about it. So far all of the DAYS OF SERVICE things have been all routine for me, but this one’s always a challenge. It does feel quite liberating when it’s done. I’m with you on this one. So if you can’t, don’t.

137 Enfield303 May 27, 2014 at 2:51 PM

Going to the Brit Floyd concert in Sacramento tonight. Should be interesting.

138 Joanne May 27, 2014 at 3:19 PM

What do you feel about having a costco/costco gas station built where the old K-Mart and other buildings which are closed there in Pleasant Hill?
I would love it….would not have to go all the way to Concord. I loved Costco when it was in Martinez, where the now Walmart is located but this would be a perfect place with ample parking and plenty of room for even some restaurants.

139 Cowellian May 27, 2014 at 4:41 PM

You can’t forgive someone for the harm they’ve done another. You can only forgive for the harm that’s done to you. Forgiveness may, or may not help the person being forgiven, but as Shasta pointed out, forgiveness will help the person doing the forgiving.

140 Killjoy May 27, 2014 at 5:43 PM

Well Boys and Girls, I’m both happy and sad to report that I have done my welfare check on Champagne Kitty. I’m happy to report that she is alive and doing well. I’m also happy to say that one of her kitties came out and said hi to me. :)
I say this as on my two previous visits, they both hid in the closet.

I’m sad to say that Champagne Kitty’s laptop charger has died, and she currently has no access to the internet.
She is planning on going to the library, checking in here, and ordering a new charging cable. :)

And yes, she was happy to see me considering the option was that someone had the police do a welfare check on her on a previous occasion. ;)

141 KAD May 27, 2014 at 5:49 PM

Thank you Killjoy. Glad to hear she is OK. You just do not know these days when someone is missing like that what might have happened, especially when there are health issues involved.

142 Happy One May 27, 2014 at 5:56 PM

Glad to hear ChampagneKitty is alive and well, Killjoy. Thank you for checking in with her and letting us know.

143 Silva May 27, 2014 at 6:17 PM

Oh thanks, Killjoy. That is great news on the whole. I’m happy to hear it. :-D

144 Atticus Thraxx May 27, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Your a good egg Killjoy, no matter what Cowellian says about ya. ;)

145 Connie Dobbs May 27, 2014 at 7:03 PM

You guys are so sweet.

146 Cowellian May 27, 2014 at 7:59 PM

Yolk’s on me, I guess.

147 Killjoy May 27, 2014 at 8:04 PM

Awe shucks. ^^’

148 Antler May 28, 2014 at 11:01 AM

Apparently, if you go through all the advisory password backflips and do a full shut-down and start-up of an I-Pad for five consecutive days…..on the sixth day it will say, “Why, HI there, Sweetie!”

Maybe I should celebrate by posting a recipe? Anyone out there love apple fritters?

149 Enfield303 May 28, 2014 at 11:11 AM

Mmmmmm, apple fritters.

150 KAD May 28, 2014 at 11:29 AM

Yes, I love apple fritters.

151 Channel & News Copter May 28, 2014 at 11:41 AM

and a traffic plane flying over Western Concord. Looks like they are over 242 and Grant, roughly.

Any idea what’s going on? I hear nothing on the police scanner tuned to Concord City Police.

152 Channel 7 News Copter May 28, 2014 at 11:59 AM

Heard on the CHP channel that someone is calling 911 from a public storage rental establishment off of 680. CHP canceled their response as the call was from a storage company inside a city and would be handled by that city. What city I have yet to determine.

153 CereBellum May 28, 2014 at 12:05 PM

Is it just me, or do those annoying little gnats flying around the tables of diners at Black Angus Restaurant in Pleasant Hill bother anyone else. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he simply stated that they have been there for years, as if it were no big deal??? Lost my business!

154 Silva May 28, 2014 at 1:15 PM

Enfield303, Did you enjoy the concert? How was Britt Floyd?

Antler, I’m quite sure apple fritters are off-limits for me, but I’d love it if you want to share that recipe of yours!

155 Silva May 28, 2014 at 1:28 PM

I’d be so surprised if an appliance said anything at all to me!

156 macawlady May 28, 2014 at 1:52 PM

Joanne…..I believe the Old K-Mart area in Pleasant Hill is destined to become apartments (student housing). Or, so I’ve heard.

Really enjoying the warm, but not too hot weather. Still doing battle with killer weeds….may hire someone to help. My get up and go seems to have gotten up and went. :)

157 Enfield303 May 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM

The concert was AWESOME!!! If there are any Pink Floyd fans out there, you have to see this band the next time they come around. If you’ve never seen Pink Floyd live, you probably wouldn’t know the difference. Had a great time.

158 Aspirin May 28, 2014 at 2:21 PM

Nazi Germany and the USA share one common trait; both countries are obsessed with national symbolism. We use our flag everywhere, as advertisement, as a political symbol, as a pin worn on a lapel (for what reason I don’t know), sewn on shirts and pants, as decals on cars and public service vehicles, ad nauseum in parades and public gatherings. The Nazis used this symbolism to great effect because the propaganda value was enormous. Do we need to be constantly reminded that we are Americans? I realize that too many Americans need a lot of mental assistance but remembering which country one lives in should not be a terribly difficult task.

159 Oh where o where did the garden girl go May 28, 2014 at 2:33 PM

What happened to the Garden Girl on Sunday? Did I miss something?

160 May 28, 2014 at 2:43 PM

Garden Girl is there.

161 Silva May 28, 2014 at 3:25 PM

Enfield303, I saw Floyd when Syd Barrett detuned his guitar mid-song at the Fillmore in ’67. We thought the whole thing was planned and was pretty cool till we saw the other member’s faces. Well it was awesome anyway! Here I go bragging again. Glad you enjoyed the show.

3-5 coyotes in the creek area behind the area of 2146 Holbrook..
One holding a dead animal in it’s mouth.

Might be a good idea to bring in the pets.

164 Killjoy May 28, 2014 at 5:20 PM

I saw Pink Floyd in Oakland. It was after Roger Waters had left the group, and David Gilmour was still with the band but after he had released his solo album “About Face” in 1984.
It was a great show. I’d love to see Brit Floyd.

165 Killjoy May 28, 2014 at 5:26 PM

I feel like Richard Kiel from Moonraker right now. I just had a temporary crown put in, and it’s metal.

166 Channel 7 News Copter May 28, 2014 at 5:28 PM

When I reported the sightings earlier today I wondered if or when I would discover the reason for the news coverage.

On tonights news the report is about a huge drug bust at that small office park across from the Dodge Car store by the airport. From what I heard on the news it was a long term DEA investigation that not only hit Concord, but Martinez, Pleasant Hill and a couple other nearby towns. Seven arrested so far, the news said.

No value of the drugs or quantity totals yet according to the news.

I would bet that The Mayor will have a far better report and more details once there is better information available.

167 Connie Dobbs May 28, 2014 at 5:54 PM

Syd Barrett ftw!

168 Connie Dobbs May 28, 2014 at 5:58 PM

#158 What country do you live in?

169 57 Chevy May 28, 2014 at 6:03 PM

I’ve seen Pink Floyd a few times. Always a great show.

Rock tribute bands are usually pretty good. Haven’t seen Brit Floyd, but House of Floyd is worth checking out.

If you don’t want to pay to see a show, tribute bands are easily found at free events throughout the East Bay.

170 Antler May 28, 2014 at 6:08 PM

Apple Fritters recipe is this one, and I hope you enjoy! (Silva, these are very small. If my blood sugar has tested low, I can have one. I do not add glaze or powdered sugar to the outside, so that might be the trick.)

171 Antler May 28, 2014 at 6:11 PM

Maya Angelou…..always guiding us the true way.

172 Pegasus May 28, 2014 at 7:19 PM

aspirin, are you trolling again?

173 ammo May 28, 2014 at 7:40 PM

What contribution(s) did Angelou make? I heard of her the first time at Slick Willies’ inauguration and not since.

174 Anon May 28, 2014 at 7:40 PM

Passed dumb young driver at an intersection, where she stopped, couldn’t hear me or my horn, probably due to the iphone ear bugs in both ears. What a poor, yet average example of a young driver.

175 KAD May 28, 2014 at 9:28 PM

ammo – If you have not read her books and poetry, you have missed some wonderful writing. I bought what may have been her last published book last year – Mom & Me & Mom.

176 ammo May 28, 2014 at 10:19 PM

Thanks KAD.

177 Happy One May 28, 2014 at 11:11 PM

Ammo, her most famous book is her first one, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. It’s a memoir about her childhood. Here’s a bit of Maya Angelou trivia. She was the first female African American cable car conductor in SF. There’s a good write up about her on SFGate. She led quite a life.

178 calkid May 28, 2014 at 11:29 PM

Anyone know why police helicopters are out near oak grove and monument area

179 KAD May 28, 2014 at 11:30 PM

ammo, She was one special woman. She was also a civil rights leader.

Saying she was an author and poet is just one small part of who she was. Mom & Me & Mom talks about her early childhood but also but her time growing up and being an adult with a child in San Francisco.

I am so sad that she is gone.

180 KAD May 28, 2014 at 11:32 PM

Great link, Happy One, thanks. What a life. What a woman!

Slick Willy. Wow. Even President G. W. Bush, who will be known as the worst ever president in our history earned the right to be known as President G. W. Bush.

Sorry, I tried. I just couldn’t let that one go.

Some will fail even though they lied, cheated and stole.
He failed. Scandal after scandal, weak failed foreign policies, FORCING his will on Americans even though the MAJORITY object, lying, denying knowledge of corruption, passing the buck.
Sorry but I can’t respect that.

Let’s say a middle aged fella goes out with an older woman, a young 80 ish, gal. Very active, full of…. well maybe a quart or two low, but still some life left in her. Is that considered weird? Might people actually believe that he honestly cares about her… even if she is worth millions? Not many relatives left to contest the will… Would a marriage ceremony be considered tacky if the bride was in a hospital bed, in a hospital? Just curious.

Hello, Claycordians! Smooches! Sorry I’ve been quiet lately…I’m fine…Killjoy came over the other day to make sure I wasn’t dead…little baby Patrick came out and said hello…as he said, the power cord for my laptop conked out on me…I am one of those weirdos who doesn’t have a cell phone, so I’ve had no internet access…I’m at the library now, borrowing a computer…I’ve got a new power cord ordered now…keep reading and tell me what you’re reading so I can read it later…Happy Friday!

209 Antler May 30, 2014 at 2:02 PM

Silva, you’re so welcome, and please let me know what you think about the fritters.

Hey there, ChampagneKitty! Glad you’re at least feeling “powered up” enough to make it down to the library….great to hear from you. P.S. I’ll not be recommending John Irving’s “A Widow for One Year”, though probably I’ll go ahead and finish it before donating it back to library. Hugs!
