Mountain Mike’s Opening Their First Restaurant in Pleasant Hill

Mountain Mike’s pizza is set to open their first restaurant in Pleasant Hill.

Plans are in place to open in Pleasant Hill Plaza, near Safeway on Contra Costa Blvd. The city just issued Mountain Mike’s a tenant improvement permit, so construction should begin soon.

The previous tenant was Beauty Source.

Worst pizza I’ve ever eaten … next to Red Barron.

If you want good pizza, try Bambino’s.

I don’t care for Mountain Mike’s, and to be honest am shocked they are still in business, and especially shocked that the location in Concord in the El Monte Shopping Center closer to BART and downtown is still open. Because I lived in that area of Concord for many years, and it was usually pretty empty in there.

First of all, the plaza is by which Safeway on Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill? There are two.

Second of all, it is about time. Mountain Mike’s won’t deliver to PH from Concord or WC.

Third, the last time I had to drive to Lafayette from PH to go to Mountain Mike’s lunch buffet. I first tried the one in Martinez, but there was no lunch buffet there. Then I went to Lafayette, and had to ask for it. They were not going to put one out until a customer asked. They put out just one pizza, and I had to eat that one for the buffet. The same kind of pizza over and over again, and I didn’t like what they put out (sausage). So much for a buffet. I should have complained. I was the only customer for their entire lunch time buffet.

By the way, we need a Domino’s here in PH too. Right now we have to drive to WC or Martinez. They won’t deliver from WC or Martinez to PH.

We also need a Straw Hat Pizza in PH that has a buffet. The only ones with buffets I know of are in Fairfield and San Jose. And what happened to the Straw Hat in WC by the 7-Eleven and gated apartment complex?

I saw the permit out front. It’s over by the small Safeway and nations and Starbucks. Won’t be going there unless I’m stoned out my mind and want an all you can eat mediocre pizza lunch

I agree with several pp’s that their pizza is terrible. Way way way overpriced.

@ down and out (#7): Are you aware that there is a MMP in Martinez? It is in the same shopping center area as IHOP (across the street from Lucky’s and Rite Aid). I would think that it would be a much shorter drive to there from PH than Lafayette.

Thanks Schmee.

I agree–their pizza is mediocre. LOL.

Adding to my post above:
Their pizzas look nothing like the ones on their commercials. The ones that people are actually served have far fewer topings than the ones on TV.

Good Luck April 26, 2014 at 12:20 PM

Hope your new business does well.

What's up with all the Haters April 26, 2014 at 12:23 PM

I think Mountain Mikes has Killer Pizza.

Steve April 26, 2014 at 12:29 PM

Great, but that parking lot is nuts already!

Mediocre pizza and Overpriced... April 26, 2014 at 12:43 PM

they seem to cater to Little League and Soccer teams made up of kids who can’t taste the difference between good pizza and their own Boogers.

C April 26, 2014 at 12:55 PM

Everyone pitching their own EastBay-centric idea of the best pizza. Just because you can’t afford to go somewhere nice doesn’t mean better isn’t out there.

Mountain Mikes pizza is great! I’m shocked at the amount of haters!

Anon April 26, 2014 at 1:11 PM

Excellent! I love their pizza.

Lynda April 26, 2014 at 1:14 PM

How can anyone talk about Pizza and Pleasant Hill and not think of Melo’s

Back east pizza person April 26, 2014 at 1:21 PM

Aren’t there any “mom & pop” bar room pizza places around? Why only “corporate chain” type places??

Road King Terry April 26, 2014 at 1:27 PM

Just bad pizza

Ex Wife April 26, 2014 at 1:35 PM

As much as MM tries, they just cannot be West Coast pizza. They try hard, but no comparison. 🙂

Suzanne April 26, 2014 at 1:37 PM

Mountain Mikes is the bomb. Is any one there yet?

funny man April 26, 2014 at 2:09 PM

“there pizza is huurible” ..the free market says otherwise if they are still in business and expanding… that space seems abit small for a full kitchen and full dining area
any one know why the beauty source closed? relocated, retired, ?
it had been there almost as long as that basking robbins b4 it closed

Julio April 26, 2014 at 3:43 PM

Oh, Mountain Mike’s Pizza is truly awful and their salad bar, at least in Antioch, isn’t great.

Sanaz April 26, 2014 at 3:44 PM

cross street from Safeway just opened Round Table Pizza which is great location and best pizza in town, Mt Mike’s is sucks!!!

Atticus Thraxx April 26, 2014 at 4:08 PM

Nothing snobbier than food snobs. Mountain Mikes is fine for what it is, Even good. It’s not supposed to be high dining.

PH FAN April 26, 2014 at 4:26 PM

Meh…I really don’t care. We have awesome pizza already – Pizza My Way, Mello’s and Zach’s…what more could you want….

$Pizza$ April 26, 2014 at 4:43 PM

A lot of money being made in pizza.

Greg in Pleasant Hill April 26, 2014 at 5:19 PM

I could make a better pizza in my shoe.

I like April 26, 2014 at 5:27 PM

Pappa Murphy’s , when I do eat pizza.

Veronica April 26, 2014 at 5:31 PM

Not for me…

Veronica April 26, 2014 at 6:21 PM

Mountain Mikes that is; horrible pizza I prefer New York pizza.

Typical Commenter April 26, 2014 at 7:15 PM

Wah! Why don’t we get an Olive Garden?

Alex April 26, 2014 at 8:01 PM

What a waste of retail space! Pizza is bland at best .. nothing gourmet or fresh about it. They try very hard to copy and clone the much better: Round Table Pizza.

mika April 26, 2014 at 8:35 PM

That is a crowded parking lot already! Never had MM’s before, we already have some great pizza places here in Pleasant Hill.

Choices, choices.. April 26, 2014 at 11:06 PM

In Pleasant Hill we have:
Zachary’s very good
Mello’s good
Devino’s good
Round Table….average, good for kids after Little League

Then there is Skippolini in WC…by the Honda dealer and the Lesher Theater. Best.

Why go to Mt. Mikes? Pizza not good.

its me! April 27, 2014 at 12:59 PM

I hate Mountain Mikes, how ever if you want good pizza and affordable go to melos in pleasent hill.

slagheap April 27, 2014 at 3:20 PM

mountain mike’s is pretty poor pizza, about the same schlock as round table. they’re both post game little league baseball or flag football type pizzas, or maybe lunch for the painting crew. i’d say they’re about a half-step better than costco.

Ralph April 27, 2014 at 9:55 PM

Mountain Mikes pizza is way better than Round Table and the prices are much better. Of course these are both second class pizza places. First would be Melos or Roccos.
