Bay area residents with unwanted prescription medication are encouraged by the Drug Enforcement Administration to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday.

The aim of the national day is to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

The Drug Enforcement Administration offers residents a chance to get rid of pills, cough syrup and other unwanted medications that have been piling up around their homes during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

This will be the eighth year of the national event.

The take back will take place this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at many Bay Area police stations and sheriff’s offices, including the Concord Police Department, Walnut Creek Police Department and the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office.

Residents can search for a location near them by clicking HERE.
