Claycord – Talk About Whatever

whatever

Happy Friday to all the wonderful citizens in the City of Claycord.

This is a post with no subject, you can talk about whatever you want. If breaking news happens (such as an earthquake), or you hear about something newsworthy, feel free to post it here.

Happy lovely weekend to all. Whatever your beliefs and rituals. It doesn’t matter. As my Country Mother-in-Law says all the time, and even in her dementia: “It all comes out in the wash!” :)

The official narrative from the Council and the Chief is there is no gang problem in Concord. Talk to a beat cop and you will find that’s not true. You have to get him/her off the record though, as they have their instructions.

I just finished watching The Wolf of Wall Street.
Three hours of my life that I’ll never get back.

13 mutts April 18, 2014 at 10:20 PM

All intersections are backed up during commute hours. Just a waste of money to widen Treat at Clayton. Let’s fight crime instead, there is too much of it. Gang animals running the city.

14 Cuzzzzzzz...... April 18, 2014 at 10:56 PM

Killjoy #12 – I agree…………………..movie was the sh*ts. As a friend said all it was was “glam porn”. And to be honest American Hustle isn’t much better.
I do recommend The Dallas Buyers Club.

15 Where are the Police? April 18, 2014 at 11:04 PM

I would like to talk about the woman who crossed over four lanes out of a gas station to swerve in front of me and almost cause an accident at Treat and Geary Intersection. Luckily I was on my toes and came to a quick halt. I honked to let her know she was driiving recklessly and she looks in the rear view mirror and flips me off. What else did I expect from someone so careless and thoughtless.

Send the CHP a report/letter and the remark goes into their cars record.

Insurance company gets to see it, no ticket, but new considerations by their insurer.

We already watched American Hustle, and we are in complete agreement.
It too was horrible.
So much so, we were leery of watching Dallas Buyers Club. But maybe we will still give it a shot.
Thanks for the input.

24 Concord Mike April 19, 2014 at 8:29 AM

What a beautiful morning, and Easter Sunday promises to be spectacular here in Claycord!

To the many Christians reading this thread – hope Easter morning services at your churches are well attended and songs proclaiming the Good News ( Alleluia He is risen !) are loud enough to wake your neighbors :)

For those who have no particular plans for Easter morning – you are welcome to come visit my church. St. Agnes in Concord ( on Chestnut ave. between Farm Bureau and West st). We have services at 7:00, 9:00, and 10:45, with an Easter egg hunt for the kids at noon.

At our church, all are made to feel welcome. We don’t check your ID at the door. You can be as anonymous or as involved as you want to be. Our congregation has people from many different ethnic groups and political perspectives, but we all come together on Sunday to worship The Lord – and during the week many take time to serve the poor and the needy. In fact, this week many of our young people will be giving up their Easter break to drive down to Tijuana and build homes for truly needy families there. Please pray for a safe trip for them.

25 Antler April 19, 2014 at 9:01 AM

Cowellian…..Of COURSE you are FIRST! It’s your honarary Claycordian Emeritus designation. Tsk-tsk…… these sillies who keep teasing…….

Pleasant Jenny at #8……. Been missing you, gal! Your mother-in-law’s saying reminded me of the one which goes, “Whichever way it turns out, that’s the answer.” Both seem to be an assertion that there are soooooooo many things over which we have absolutely no control, no matter how hard we might try. Let’s all just do the very best we can……and beyond that, love one another.

26 Silva April 19, 2014 at 9:05 AM

Dallas Buyers Club was entirely watchable. I fell asleep pretty early on during Wolf of Wall Street. It was my DH’s choice, he thought I should try it as it’s more high brow than many movies he watches! ;)

27 Silva April 19, 2014 at 9:07 AM

@Concord Mike, you got it!

28 The Phantom instructs us April 19, 2014 at 9:24 AM

that if you send a letter to CHP about bad driving the letter goes in the cars file.
There is no file. There is no sharing of citizen complaint information with insurance companies.
And of course the license plate number he wants reported is non existent.

Other then that he got it right.

29 J. April 19, 2014 at 9:44 AM
30 Anonymous April 19, 2014 at 9:56 AM

Once again the phantom displays his propensity to make things up. CHP doesn’t maintain files on cars. They report collisions to DMV and courts report citations.

His suggestion is made up ( like most of his stuff) out of thin air. Further, if he bothered to look at the license plate before he quoted it he would see it’s not a complete number.

Lastly it’s not even clear if this location is in CHPs primary jurisdiction.

This is so typical of the far left, call the government for everything. Facts not on your side/ no problemo.

32 Insane @#31 April 19, 2014 at 10:53 AM

Following being unmasked, he posts totally irrelevent material and lots of it.
Embarrassment I would guess.

45 Spring Soon April 19, 2014 at 7:08 PM

#29. Thank you for the link to the write up about Concord. There are a lot of things I like about living in Concord. I am glad the city is trying to work on improving its image. I believe little things can make a huge difference. For example changing the name back to Concord Pavilion was a really good move. We have a lot of musicians in Concord, and of course, the jazz heritage of Dave Brubeck. Concord is still affordable, and the city could encourage more artists and musicians to move here.

46 Silva April 19, 2014 at 7:12 PM

With “The Ten Commandments” on, it feels like a Sunday. For so many years it had always been on, on Sunday. A few short years ago they moved it to Saturday. Probably so people could stay awake all night to watch it and not have to worry about work the next day.

I’m so sorry. Regarding Anonymous, Anon, Leland Gaunt, and others:

We’re here to take them back to their home.

Excerpt from Young Democrat Training Lesson: Trolls

5. They make personal remarks (ad hominem attacks) to try to provoke a well-justified cyber response that distracts everyone, especially if you return their hostile remarks. It distracts the reader audience with the angry conflict. Simple middle school bullying*.

The CHP has a procedure that begins a process of notification. These young people have much to learn. You do need all the plate letters and numbers.

I have used it.

And this looks like a minivan to me: maybe a mini sedan?

http://www.bmwblog.com/wp-content/uploads/bmw-x5-m-wrapped-in-gold-photo-gallery_4.jpg

Also; The CHP can scan ten plates, match the car and collect the complaint. They do it with computers.

I absolutely cannot stand the term, “City of Claycord” because there is no such place and I think it’s such a completely annoying and stupid thing to say! This is the first time I’ve checked this site in years and I can see why I never come here; petty, nosy people with nothing better to do than gossip online. OMG no one cares about you idiots!!!!!!

60 anon April 20, 2014 at 6:58 AM

The City of Concord want’s to widen Treat Blvd. by Clayton Rd. in front of Staples. Shouldn’t Concord Blvd be first on the list of street’s to widen?

63 Shelly April 20, 2014 at 9:36 AM

@Running Girl, Make it! It’s remarkably easy. I like a French press style. There are many expensive ones around, probably the biggest bang for the buck being at IKEA ($9.99) for a small one. You dump in the grounds, pour in boiling water, and voilà! Lovely delicious coffee.

64 Antler April 20, 2014 at 9:37 AM

Anon at #59…….. My home is positioned so that either/both improvements would be welcomed! But the Clayton Road/Treat Blvd/Denkinger Rd. intersection is a terribly long signal rotation. Many drivers are going through the intersection several seconds after the signal could even remotely be considered “orangish-red”! Keep in mind also that certain preparations will be made in preparation for the eventual increase of traffic caused by development of the weapons station property.

Newer sidewalk and paving projects on Concord Boulevard seem to indicate that City of Concord intends to keep that dangerous “in and out” configuration along the boulevard. I believe it was back in the 1970’s that we passed a bond measure partly so that the boulevard would be widened to four lanes from Kirker Pass Road all the way through town. I join you in feeling upset that they seem to be jilting us. Even more irritating is their tolerating the P,G,&E utility pole hazard out in the roadbed!

65 Walnut Creek Resident April 20, 2014 at 11:12 AM

I see two errors I made. First it was number 50 with offensive language that belongs in the toilet, and also lose not loose. Do have a great Easter, and He has risen indeed!!

66 Cowellian April 20, 2014 at 11:50 AM

A nony mouse@59,
Thanks for stopping by Claycord and sharing that with us.

And don’t forget your lovely parting gifts.

67 KAD April 20, 2014 at 11:59 AM

Antler – I heard that P G & E gave Concord City the money to move the poles on Concord Blvd. If that is indeed the case, the City is at fault for not moving them. I seem to recall that it was a City Council meeting I watched online where I heard this. Maybe Edi, if he is reading this thread, can tell us for sure.
The City Council meeting was the one that P G & E attended to tell them about the tree cutting.

68 Dr. Jellyfinger® April 20, 2014 at 5:00 PM

OK…….. let me see if I got this straight….. today is Easter Sunday, Hitler’s Birthday & “Weed Day”? (marijuana ?!!!!!). Anyone here work with it? It will get you hooked, fast. I started with the monkey’s fist keychains and have done a few different survival bracelets. A shotgun sling is next, I would like to braid in a holder for shells/pouches. Any ideas for a suitable holder? I cannot find any shell holder that I can get a bight on to weave into the sling, which is amazing considering all the options out there.

82 Paracord April 21, 2014 at 6:24 PM

Why don’t you try making them yourself? There is a jig to help in making them, that you can buy or dirt cheap with a board, bolts and nuts. I have been making different patterns than the Solomon that most people make. I have had good luck and really like the Shark pattern. I have also ordered some new buckles that have a whistle as part of the clasp. I’ve also been learning the Celtic knots. It is surprisingly relaxing and nice to have a handmade piece in the days of cheap China junk. Just if you start this, wrap the knuckles of your index fingers in some type of tape or bandage. It is awful to have blisters in such a strange area. @Silva- as far as getting out of a jam, there are YouTube videos of how potent Monkey’s Fists can be.

@91 and 92, yes, apparently it is back but it was taken down yesterday afternoon and all of the roughly 150 comments are now missing. I stand by my previous comment that it never should have been posted in the first place …

93 CLAYCORD.com April 22, 2014 at 12:55 PM

@ashamed, Now you have to start name calling? If you have a problem with the person you mentioned, then please email him. Your posts about him will continue to be deleted as long as you keep making false accusations, just like all the other posts were deleted about the coach.

94 Ashamed April 22, 2014 at 2:09 PM

Look. I am not in the business of name calling. That is my frustration responding. Would it be fair to ask what accusations are false and how does Claycord know that? Isn’t your site a forum for expressing opinions? It was sort of academic to delete the posts about the coach wasn’t it after they did all the damage. In theory you were monitoring the posts I would think for innafpropruate language etc which I agree with that but where were you two days ago when she was unjustly being crucified. How did u know then what was true or not. Do you see my point? Look I am smart enough to know not to argue with someone who buys ink by the barrel but where is the fairness here.

95 mtzman April 22, 2014 at 2:40 PM

@CLAYCORD.COM #98, I think a lot of us appreciate your deleting posts that make false accusations including those “deleted about the coach.” However, there were several other people who had accusations directed at them without any apparent factual basis, either. This entire thing should never have been posted.

96 Steve April 22, 2014 at 3:17 PM

The Mayor has the right to run Claycord.com anyway he wants. It’s his sight. He’s very lenient (if not overly so-freedom of speech), and everybody knows it. You can always start your own blog, or do something else if you don’t like the terms.

I’ve only had one comment deleted, and I agreed with his decision. I was just getting it out of my system. I wouldn’t have posted it either.

You play by the rules or play elsewhere. Something tells me there’s a lot of hard work behind Claycord.com. A lot more than people realize.

97 CLAYCORD.com April 22, 2014 at 3:31 PM

Thanks so much, Steve.

98 mtzman April 22, 2014 at 4:00 PM

@Steve #101, not disagreeing with you. A lot of what is posted on this site, especially in the politics thread, is pure unadulterated BS and I, for one, have not hesitated to call out people on many occasions for their untruths and flat out lies. I wouldn’t expect The Mayor to delete those posts that are lies any more than I would expect him to delete my posts that call them out. However, the recent thread on CVCHS and CVLL is different. A local school and several officials within that school were specifically called out by name and had their integrity slandered. I have no idea who is right and who is wrong on the underlying issues — I don’t know what the agreement was or was not or if there even was an agreement. At no point, however, does it appear that anyone from CVCHS was contacted for a response before the post was published and I am suggesting that journalistic best practices would require that an effort be made. I also suspect it is no coincidence that the post was given to claycord right before spring break when the campus was closed for a week.

All I am suggesting at this point is that it would be nice for the Mayor to expand the response to Ashamed and clarify to the public that “Your posts about him will continue to be deleted as long as you keep making false accusations, just like all the other posts were deleted about the coach, the school and its employees.”

I come walking out but I’m on the cell phone arguing with my buddy Spots about this business about Russia in Crimea & Ukraine. I’m telling him I couldn’t care less about Putin in those jerk water countries & we should just butt out, let the baby have his bottle. We started talking baseball after that, but I didn’t know Barb & Cha Cha overheard me & they were gettin all worked up about Putin & Russia, blah, blah, blah… So when I get off the phone they charge on up to me & say “We want Putin out!” “Yeah, we want Putin out!” and I, of course…. totally misunderstood what they were talking about. I made some intimate suggestions involving the three if us in my hot tub, some prescription meds & Mr. Bubble….. now they’re both mad at me.

I forgot to mention, the cake should be for you because you guys are the ones who made it possible for me to work three blocks from my home. Thanks, it really helped, so don’t feel bad about asking for cake. it’s the least I could do.

106 Once upon a time April 23, 2014 at 2:34 PM

Once upon a time there was a very handsome male camel named Alfred with two huge camel humps.

He fell in love and married a beautiful female camel named Marie, who had one perfect camel hump.

As time progressed, they became the proud parents of a wonderful baby boy camel, born with no humps.

They contemplated long and hard on what to call their beautiful little boy. They finally decided on … are you ready for this???

Humpfree
Oh, please stop your whining. It’s a nice little story and a lot
better than most of the other rubbish I send .

111 Gotta be illegal April 23, 2014 at 5:24 PM

Police recently arrested a man who was selling pills that would give you eternal youth. Police discovered that it was the fourth time this man was arrested. The earlier arrests were made in 1799, 1852 and 1921.

113 Atticus Thraxx April 23, 2014 at 8:01 PM

Jelly, I don’t know what kind of doctor you are, but I sure hope you take my insurance if it ever comes to it.
I agree Killjoy. But they got the points back doing it barefoot way I figure it. I won’t go on my back deck barefoot.
Connie, I don’t know what’s up with all this cake business, but I’m a big supporter of cake in general. And I’ll go the the record saying so.

Hello Atticus – hope all is well in her neck of the woods.

FYI – when I asked Dr. Jelly… what type of physician he was, I recall him saying he was a protcologist.
But then again he considered renaming himself to Dr Green jeans to get more action with the ladies ;)

116 VikingPrincess April 23, 2014 at 9:33 PM

Your neck of the woods that is…

@Mark, there may be a thing or two you don’t know about physicians. That professional demeanor is for the patients. Just saying. Not that I’m making excuses for Dr. Jellyfinger’s appalling since of humor. Chuckle, chuckle, GUFFAW!

120 Claycord Reader April 24, 2014 at 12:37 PM

Dr. Jellyfinger is not a doctor. It’s one of the regular posters who also uses the “Dr. Jellyfinger” name to post humorous comments.

121 Atticus Thraxx April 24, 2014 at 1:08 PM

Yeah take all this serious Mark. And of course be a dlck about it.

I am going to assume that Mark is being sincere. Mark, the person behind Dr. Jellyfinger is portraying a character. A rather twisted one, but a character nonetheless. I think that most of us assume he isn’t really a doctor. With that said, let me add…

Dear, Dr. Jellyfinger: Stay away from me. Love, ChampagneKitty

I worked a 13 hour day yesterday, and an 11 hour day today. It looks like I missed a little drama here on Claycord. I see the numbers are a bit off, and folks are referring to a person whose post seems to have been purged.
I’m sure I didn’t miss much. Just another Troll.

139 The Original Mr. Anon E. Mouse April 25, 2014 at 1:57 AM

I am often reminded of a joke, more so lately, every time I visit the doctor.
What do you call the medical student that graduates at the bottom of their class? …. Doctor.
I still don’t understand why of all the blood tests my previous doctor ran, why vitamin deficiencies weren’t one of them. I have very low levels of vitamin D, something I understand is very common in the population.
I took 10,000 IU yesterday to start, and within hours my retinopathy improved. My insomnia relented and I was completely tired at an appropriate time. Slept a decent amount, without waking several times, and was not fatigued in the morning. Jumped right out of bed at 9am. My osteoarthritis isn’t going to clear up, the damage is already done, but I am experiencing a lot less pain today. Appetite is normal again, as well as digestion! Going to go buy another knee brace later and ease into working out again. I’ve gained 30 pounds since I stopped working out a year ago. :(
Only reason I am up late tonight is because I am working on a floor plan for the remodel. I have energy again to get things done!
G’nite Claycordians!

140 The Original Mr. Anon E. Mouse April 25, 2014 at 2:00 AM

Oh and the cognitive difficulties have begin to clear as well. I don’t feel stupid, walking around in a hazy fog all the time anymore! But my memory is still spotty. Will take some time to build up the D levels. Go back to the doctor in 2 months.
Cogito ergo sum!

It`s funny to me how people still act like Walnut Creek is like it was in the old days still.
Back in the day Walnut Creek was a step above other towns in this area.
But that has been gone for many years.

It is as bad, or worst then towns around it now.
Even if people who own a house don`t want to admit it.
Just because you paid more for your house.
Does not mean the area you live in will stay nice.
Walnut Creek has proven that.

Walnut Creek has things happening in it daily, that areas around it don`t.
But people seem to either look the other way, or pretend it isn`t really there.

Time to wake up Walnut Creek people.
Your town is as ghetto or worse then the areas around it.

So stop thinking you are better then others.
Because really you are a bit worse, just pretending to be like you were.
And it kills you, that i`m right.

Walnut Creek is ghetto as hell.
Once a place you could let your kids play in.
Now a place you can`t leave your kid alone.

I know it is worse everywhere.
It just ticks me off how Walnut Creek people still have their noses in the air.
When they have no reason to do so.

We don`t have weirdo`s hanging out on trails or parking lots as much as Walnut Creek does. (in Concord or Pleasant Hill)

So wake up and smell the coffee Walnut Creek.
You`re not as good as you think you are.
You haven`t been for many years.

Plus i never knew Walnut Creek had so many apartments.
And the number is growing daily.

147 ChampagneKitty April 25, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Hello, The Original Mr. Anon E. Mouse, it’s nice to hear from you, dear! I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. I take Vitamin D too, just not that much…1,000 IU per day.

148 The Original Mr. Anon E. Mouse April 25, 2014 at 2:13 PM

Hello, Ms. Kitty! I read 1000-2000 per day is a maintenance dosage. I was just floor when I found out. It’s not like I’m a shut-in or hermit living in a basement. I get out in the sun every day! And eat a fairly balanced healthy vegetarian diet, with some meat sprinkled in there every couple months. :) A person can only go so long without a bacon cheeseburger!
Be well. Time to make a latte and demolish some drywall!

149 Silva April 25, 2014 at 2:15 PM

What a glorious day! Drought or no, this is my kind of weather! Hip hip HOORAY!!!

I’ve been trying to do things a little differently after being successfully treated for a bit of breast cancer, so I cleaned my oven last week with baking soda, vinegar, and a smidgen of detergent, instead of a more costly and noxious product I would have used before. Funny thing is, the oven got cleaner than I’ve ever seen it (I got it second hand)!

It was all in the news as I sat at the radiation therapy depot waiting my turn about the correlation between cancer and low levels of vitamin D. It’s responsible for making a whole lot of other things going right within us a well. My Kaiser doctor started ordering tests for it as a matter of course soon after that. Pretty good stuff.

Kitty and any other readers out there. …I’m looking for the definitive George Washington biography. Just want to read one so if anyone has a strong recommendation, I’d like the author’s name.

Neverlast!

155 ChampagneKitty April 25, 2014 at 6:18 PM

Atticus, to be honest, I don’t have a recommendation for you..history and biographies about historical figures are not genres I know a lot about…I did get some history books a few months ago to mix into my book stacks to expand my horizons a little, including “John Adams” by David McCullough which I’ve heard is excellent…but I passed on your question to my Twitter buddy Dan Ashley; he likes to read books like that. He’s on the air right now but hopefully he will get back to me when he has time.

Another good person to ask is Lynn at Berkshire Books. I’m sure he can recommend some titles for you.

156 ChampagneKitty April 25, 2014 at 6:49 PM

Atticus, Dan says “1776” by David McCullough is outstanding.

157 VikingPrincess April 25, 2014 at 7:12 PM

Vitamin D is good for many things, even healing and prevention of Osteoporosis etc. In a word that is UVrayphobic it is a great idea to supplement.
Too much of any good thing is bad. Taking doses higher than 4,000 iu daily – just let your Doc know when you visit – so no surprises. Some studies have shown you have to take up to 50,000 iu daily for approx three months in order to overdose.
Keep in mind other things have vitamin D..such as the Calcium Citrate I take, milk and any sun I get.

I find it does not always agree with my stomach and I am not the only one that has this problem. Some take fish oil supplements instead because of this, as for me – I take it before I go to sleep so I will be sleeping and don’t get queasy.

158 Happy One April 25, 2014 at 7:25 PM

Atticus, you could try “His Excellency” by Joseph J Ellis, which is written in modern prose, or if you would prefer a contemporary account by someone who knew the man, Washington Irving wrote a biography that is still in print. Irving said it was his best work. Volume 1 (of 5) is at Gutenberg.org.
