Martinez Police Arrest Man for Parole Violation, Residential Burglary

April 12, 2014 · 17 comments

A 60-year-old man was arrested for residential burglary and a parole violation in Martinez Friday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a report that a man – later identified as John Franklin Benitez – had removed a screen door from a window at a home in the 500 block of Alhambra Avenue at about 7:50 a.m., police said.

Police said officers set up a perimeter around the house and waited for Benitez to leave.

Benitez left through the front door and was confronted by officers. He fled back inside and slammed the door behind him, according to police.

Officers chased him into the home. They used a stun gun to subdue Benitez, who was then taken into custody, police said.

Benitez was booked into jail on suspicion of residential burglary and a parole violation.

60years old? Nice life choices there Johnny boy. A lifetime of being a loser and a drain on society. Congrats.

There comes a time when you just get too old to do something like this. What was on this man’s mind?

I thought people mellowed out at that age and fed pigeons? But people are living longer. So I guess so are criminals. Soon you will see old men with hoodies and a cane.

“Early bird special”

Early Bird Special is right! Try the seniors menu at Carrows! Now that’s a steal! And you only have to be like 55 to get it. I went through all the bother of putting on my Tyrone F. Horneigh costume for nothing! I guess the joke was on me.

9 You guys... April 12, 2014 at 10:11 PM

have got to be able to do better than that, you
call that snark? What a bunch of pewking
maggots, to steal a phrase from one of the
king richards of snarky blather.

What a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Old ______________,,,never learns ,crime don’t pay! i guess a job is out of the question!

Maybe he was recently laid off at the age of 59……don’t be so judgmental.

Okay, so he’s a career criminal. If you’re on parole and committing burglary at the age of 60, this is way of life.

What a wasted life, and on a serious drain on the taxpayers. Probably one of those guys that’s more comfortable in prison.

I agree with Miles, retirement plan!

Difficult to get a job once you’re legally a “felon.”

It sounds to me that he is neither
experienced nor particularly adept
at this type of thing, so I would
guess he did it out of desperation
and it was the first time he had
done something like this.

Well, I’m still in hysterics because he “removed a screen door from a window”! Jeff Foxworthy could take that and run with it!

Nice catch, MPD!

Couldn’t make it on the outside, does what he does and gets caught. WOW!
Maybe Jerry Brown will want to rehab him, then let him out again.
Build the frickin’ prisons, will ya?
