April 8, 2014 · 68 comments

An 18-year-old man was caught masturbating behind Pleasant Hill Elementary School on Tuesday afternoon, according to Pleasant Hill Police.

At about 12:30 in the afternoon, officers were called to the creek area behind the school for the report of a male masturbating. Upon arrival, an officer witnessed the male’s lewd conduct and he was arrested. At the time of the arrest and conduct, no children were present, police said.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.

That’s the least of our worries with what is happening daily in this world
just a loner entertaining himself for free

2 Angelface April 8, 2014 at 9:40 PM

That’s never good.

3 Cowellian April 8, 2014 at 9:42 PM

Time for a Taser?

4 Dr. Jellyfinger® April 8, 2014 at 9:45 PM

That must be Masturbator’s Creek…. Not as bad as what happens at Murderer’s Creek!

5 Actually.... April 8, 2014 at 9:45 PM

Actually the school phone message said noon supervisors noticed and approached the man during recess as he was sitting on the bleachers on school property and called 911 when they realized what he was sitting there doing

Gross

what is going on in that neck of the woods. It’s like sicko pervertville. Time for some serious action.

WTF DID I JUST READ?

8 PH Parent April 8, 2014 at 10:00 PM

Near a school for crying out loud?!? He is lucky I didn’t come across him or he wouldn’t have gotten off so easy as a simple arrest. His name should be released.

9 Plesant Hill Hysterical Society April 8, 2014 at 10:08 PM

The Dr. is apparently refering to the Contra Costa Native American who was hung in the 1860’s at “Murderer’s Creek” after being accused of horse thievery.

10 AldrigeFamily April 8, 2014 at 10:18 PM

Creek behind the school? Didn’t even know there was one back there

11 Birdman April 8, 2014 at 10:29 PM

He is not a man. 18 is still a kid. He has no clue what he just caused his life to become.

12 PH Parent April 8, 2014 at 10:44 PM

@Aldridge…yes it run just behind the baseball field in the far back (where my kids sometimes play their PHBA games). That is the problem with PH Elem and Strandwood….any sicko can wander into the recess are during the day. They need locked gates to restrict entry during school hours, requiring access only through the front. That guy could have just walked up the back easily and just sat at the baseball bleachers. I know at Strandwood there are several open access points and it makes me crazy. As wonderful as many of the yard duty are, they can’t see everything.

13 Schmee April 8, 2014 at 11:00 PM

Go ahead and just register him as a sex offender now and give him an ankle bracelet for 2 years at least.

14 Dorothy April 8, 2014 at 11:03 PM

What, the kid can’t wait until he got home or into the nearest bathroom? Guess not.

15 phe mom April 8, 2014 at 11:09 PM

Our message said he had been sitting in the bleachers when two school employees noticed him and police were called. He had apparently been watching the kids play at lunch recess for some time before walking to the creek where he was caught. Definitely NOT an innocent misunderstanding. I’m so glad these employees were alert and quick to call the police and that PHPD arrived within minutes!

16 AldrigeFamily April 8, 2014 at 11:09 PM

Thanks PH Parent for the info.

Birdman – he is a stupid adult not a stupid child.

All the information posted is from the police.

18 I saw almost the whole thing. April 8, 2014 at 11:17 PM

We were walking the dogs and crossed the bridge over the creek, and saw the principal and a parent volunteer waving us to “move away” as they made it clear there was something down in the creek. It was clear they were very concerned about something..was it a lose rabid dog?…perhaps something else… Several staff were across the ball field near the playground so we asked what was happening. One teacher said it was a “suspicious man”..who was staring at the kids and fondling himself. We circled around the grass area and saw PH police officers approaching from the bridge on the east end and from the church parking lot. We could see the whole thing. The guy was sitting on the bank of the creek, reclined, with his..well… Three of Pleasant Hills finest surrounded the guy ,and with rubber gloves on, they quickly got him up, handcuffed, and walked him off the school grounds. The principal was extremely upset with the whole thing. No kids were out at the time, thankfully. Clearly this guy has some serious issues…to be seen by school staff, and simply saunter 25 yards down the creek just to continue the “adventure”. Duh? Cops are coming stupid. Now despite the above comments, this area is extremely safe, lots of retired folks out, and this is a popular PUBLIC park path connecting two neighborhoods separated by the creek. I got a good look at the suspect…never seen him anywhere around. The school is very popular with neighbors and local kids, and of course sports teams…after school hours. Been there 20 years..this is a first!

If hes old enough to join the army, smoke, and vote. Hes old enough to have his own toilet in a cell, maybe share it with one more person.

20 PH Parent April 8, 2014 at 11:41 PM

@”I Saw….” … we enjoy the school play facilities on weekends and evenings too. After hours and weekends everyone should enjoy them. However I strongly feel that DURING school hours the public should not have access to the play area whatsoever. Just because something has never happened here doesn’t mean it won’t. In just one week that groper actually assaulted a minor, now this? Too much. This is a great town and relatively safe, but we can’t just hope it stays that way. We need to make sure it does.

21 VikingPrincess April 8, 2014 at 11:56 PM

I ride my bike there. Okay, this isn’t just a guy who is without a shower and a bar of soap. He must be on drugs or mentally ill.

22 phe mom April 8, 2014 at 11:58 PM

PHE staff handled this really well. The kids were sent in early from recess soon after the guy was spotted in the bleachers. My child was playing in the area and, fortunately, none of the kids saw what “I saw…” (#18) saw!

23 I saw almost the whole thing. April 9, 2014 at 12:07 AM

PH Parent…didn’t say that, just the neighbors who take the trail or cut thru to the church area, WELL AWAY from any school activity, and not at all when the kids are at P.E. using the grass. Everyone knows that…or should. This guy was obviously “obvious” in the worst way. Serious concern on our part that this pervert was even in our great city. Pleasant Hill PD did a great job, as did the entire staff and Principal. That is what we love about P. Hill…it’s a good community..and safe.

24 Led April 9, 2014 at 12:17 AM

Very possibly this guy is mentally disabled. Either way, nice job by the PD and the school staff.

25 Suzie April 9, 2014 at 12:30 AM

Looks like the community is safe once again!

Pleasant Hill has really gone downhill over the last few years. it used to be such a nice place to live but look at it now.

30 P. H. Neighbor April 9, 2014 at 7:06 AM

We walk our dogs near there almost every day & have for the last 25 yrs. There’re quite a few neighborhoods that have trails in the back area that lead to the school.
During school hours we won’t walk in that area.
I haven’t seen anyone suspicious after hours or on the weekends.
Very, very happy to read that the PHE staff noticed this guy. Thank YOU.
After the news last week we’ve been keeping an extra eye out, actually I always do and will continue.

31 The Mamba April 9, 2014 at 7:32 AM

Agree with VikingPrincess, I’d bet that the guy is developmentally disabled. Sad, all the way around.

32 94598 April 9, 2014 at 7:37 AM

I bet the suspect will be a MDUSD teacher in a couple years

33 Long Time PHE Resident April 9, 2014 at 7:46 AM

There are three neighborhoods that connect to the school from bridges that cross the creek. I have been walking my dogs there for years, often during the school day.

I think of myself as an extra set of eyes there, especially because of the creek. Yesterday afternoon I was walking my dogs and there were six middle schoolers up on top of the equipment storage trailers jumping off on to a fenced area next to it. One of the kids started trying to get into the clothing donation by aggressively shaking the handle to open it.

I made a beeline over to them and told them that instead of calling the police that I wanted to warn them and gave them all a hard look and that they needed to respect the property.

Unfortunately, that was not the first time I’ve seen kids vandalizing the school over the years. I called the school office but it was after hours and there was no info on the message on who to call in that situation.

Having local residents walking thru the school seems like a smart way to watch out for trouble. Maybe the school needs extra yard duty people or they should install security cameras.

34 MaryJane April 9, 2014 at 7:51 AM

I’m not agreeing with what he did, but I want to know why everyone get’s so up in arms when they hear of people “pleasuring” themselves in public.

How were your kids born? How were your kids friends born? How were you born? Your parents? Your family, friends, lovers!? We all began with sex. Yeah, yeah, you probably weren’t made in public (or were you?) but it’s a natural thing that no one should be ashamed of.

I do think it’s bad that he did it at a school. Especially an elementary school. However, there are probably hundreds of people masturbating in public at any given time. It’s not the act that irks me, it’s the place.

I knew a girl that had sex on the playground at an elementary school in Concord almost everyday. They timed it between when everyone at the school went home and when the daycare on campus took the kids to the playground.

35 aunt sue April 9, 2014 at 8:15 AM

Wonder if this was the same guy a week or so ago, trying to touch kids walking to school?

36 Cowellian April 9, 2014 at 8:20 AM

I don’t know about that, MaryJane. I suspect that people who are in the habit of pleasuring themselves in public are probably in no danger of creating children.

37 The Professor April 9, 2014 at 8:28 AM

@MaryJane

There is a time and a place for everything. At an elementary school during classes is neither.

38 @MaryJane April 9, 2014 at 8:39 AM

What’s her phone number?

39 Ick April 9, 2014 at 9:03 AM

Should this be called Misterbating? Ick!

40 PH Parent April 9, 2014 at 9:24 AM

@”Long time” and “I saw….”… It is residents like YOU that make this town great. Caring, observant, involved. Thank you! It is much appreciated! Unfortunately not everyone is…that is what scares me. For every 1,000 great PH residents there is 1 that is potentially dangerous. I hope everyone continues to keep their eyes and ears open. And I still would like a fence for school hours to keep the not so courteous non students and staff out until after 3 :-)…..just a concerned parent here.
And MJ your playground friend is a complete idiot. I don’t care what you do or who you do it with, stay off of school grounds.

41 What security April 9, 2014 at 10:09 AM

What an idiot doesn’t he know he will go blind.

42 anonanonagain April 9, 2014 at 10:16 AM

Pedophilia starts young. This young man has serious issues and if he doesn’t get help he’s going to be one of “those” sickos that we read about everyday. No cure for a perverted mind. What’s going on in our world where children are the object of people’s sexual urges??? Vile and disgusting…….

43 Teacher Wannabe April 9, 2014 at 10:48 AM

@94598 #32. That’s just wrong! You should be ashamed of yourself. Hopefully next year I’ll have my credential and will be proud if I was hired in the MDUSD.

44 Mr. Pink April 9, 2014 at 11:01 AM

Hopefully he’s mentally ill and not just your run of the mill perv. Neither of which is good, but….

45 Angelface April 9, 2014 at 11:02 AM

The problem with an adult choking his chicken on or adjacent to an elementary school is that it usually means they are turned on by children, therfore they are a pedophile. Not good.

46 mr me April 9, 2014 at 11:02 AM

Those police officers sure ‘came in handy’

47 Puddintain April 9, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Maryjane’s just a nasty troop trying to upset everyone. Don’t pay it any attention.

48 Anon April 9, 2014 at 11:07 AM

Agree with #42 and other non-delusional people. If by 18, you have not learned you can’t masturbate in public and particularly not around children, you have serious behavioral issues. I have no problem with this perpetrator getting labeled as a sexual offender; sadly he will probably re-offend his whole life and move on to more serious crimes.

@94598 (aka TROLL):

To make such a idiotic statement just shows your lack of understanding and consideration for the teaching community. I bet you have never in your entire miserable existence even tried to take on a job that the demands of teaching entails. Now go and please pull the blinds down in your home and continue performing lewd acts on yourself…douchebag

53 94598 April 9, 2014 at 12:55 PM

No shortage of pedophile teachers at MDUSD schools- Most recent that I can immediately recall- Woodside Elementary- and lets not forget the the investigation that concluded MDUSD was notified and did not take appropriate action years earlier.

That poor boy, I feel sorry for him. His family needs to gather him in before it’s too late.

59 phe mom April 9, 2014 at 9:39 PM

Is pedophelia now considered “special needs”?! Some of you are missing the fact that he sat watching children play before walking 30 feet to the creek to masterbate. I wish there was some way to post the principal’s voice message to parents. It’s far more detailed than just a guy caught near a schoolyard…

Listen to the facts & stop assuming or reading between the lines. More details will be released when & if it’s necessary. Be thankful no innocent children were harmed. Why can’t people stick to the topic & try using spell check? Really!!!
