April 5, 2014 17:47 pm · 20 comments

Police in Walnut Creek are investigating an armed robbery that occurred just outside a bar Friday night.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just happened in front of the Corners Tavern located at 1342 Broadway Plaza at about 11:15 p.m., police said.

Investigators learned that a suspect used a handgun to rob a female of her iPhone and purse, according to police.

Police said the suspect then fled in a red colored Honda hatchback car, possibly a Civic, which was being driven by an unknown suspect.

The suspects were not found. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect who robbed the female is described as a dark complexion man in his early 20s, about 6 feet 1 inches tall with a medium build. The other suspect was not seen.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Walnut Creek police at 925-943-5844.

These guys are getting off BART and casing the town for hot spots.

“about 6 feet 1 inches tall” is pretty specific. I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

BART is more than a mile away from this place, probably more like two miles.

me thinks it’s time to set up some women cops in a sting operation. Plus have it recorded when the female cop throws them down.
or some genius could make fake i phones so that the most horrendous odor emits from it along with a very long term dye and it tazes too.

What is Walnut Creek becoming when it is no longer safe for Women to walk the streets?

Walnut Creek advertises itself as upscale, surprise there aren’t alot of robberies . If you are going to rob, go where the money is.

Friday night around 11:15pm in front of the bar, somebody must have seen it. I thought the bar scene was a big deal in Walnut Creek.

I’m fairly sure I saw someone in a red colored Honda hatchback car on BART the other day

How did he get the Honda hatchback on BART?

All that nasty messed up construction in Broadway Plaza was the perfect opportunity for
Maggots and low life scum to come out of the dirt.

When I see a lone twenty something black male wandering the streets. of WC…everytime I read about crime later in the . It’s like a Queen Bee searching for a nesting spot and calling in the swarm!

full of knowledge and proof. You are so naiive. They plan their getaways and many times come back to the scene of the crime to see what’s going on.
Not the sharpests tools in the shed. 🙁

KTVU is reporting that police believe the same people attempted to rob someone last night in the parking structure across from the movie theater in Pleasant Hill. The descriptions of the car and the gun match the WC robbery.

Right, these people target WC 1) people are unsuspecting 2) they do their crime and hop right on the freeway back home straight shot from downtown on to freeway

Seems very bold – on a Sat eve, I’d think there would be a lot of people around. I wonder if this woman was standing outside (alone?) or starting to leave the bar? Either way, it is easy to feel safe in many parts of the ‘burbs, but the mixture of wealth and that kind of complacency proves to be easy targets for thieves. They come out here for the pickings.

They developed profiling for a reason and now don’t use it. The city is too worried about plastic bags and smoking downtown.

It` O.K. everyone! The Welfare Checks have been Issued and the Natives are no longer restless! they got their money and are back to their drug dealers and the liquor stores, they are happy now!

Robbing a woman is “bold”? Sounds like a couple of ch*ckensh*t druggies to me.

Lari April 6, 2014 at 7:17 PM

@Laura: I meant robbing a woman in front of what I *thought* would be a crowded bar is (with lots of witnesses, etc.)

Corners Tavern is not a bar, it is a restaurant that has a bar. But it’s not like you expect for a bar late on Sat night. It would not be uncommon to be leaving by yourself and not expecting any trouble. But that whole area is under construction. Nobody would be hanging around outside, you can’t even smoke outside anymore. It would be very easy to surprise somebody, the parking lot by Macy’s is very dark and connects to the lot at the bank, there’s also a small alley. Unsuspecting WC residents don’t even think about these things and are so unguarded.
