Martinez: Central Contra Costa County Real Estate Agent Gets 18-year Sentence for Child Molestation

A central Contra Costa County real estate agent will spend 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl.

Ronald Schwartz, 66, was sentenced in a Martinez courtroom this morning days after pleading guilty to six counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

A judge also issued a 10-year order to stay away from the victim and ordered the defendant to pay restitution and to register as a sex offender.

Schwartz, a Brentwood resident, was arrested in the summer of 2012 after calling a suicide hotline and confessing to sexually abusing a young relative, according to Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Chad Mahalich.

He has been in custody since that time.

The court heard today from members of the victim’s family, including the victim’s mother.

Mahalich said Schwartz previously abused two other young girls, but was not charged in connection with those cases.

This is incredible! What is the difference between this guy and the guy in Walnut Creek?! The sentencing should have been exactly the same!

An 18 year sentence (if he serves it) will probably be the rest of his life.

what this article does not tell ;you is that he was that he called a suicide hot line and confessed! to this crime and the other crimes he did not confess to! I usually rely on the cctimes to give me a` bias and partial story, `they are great at giving a liberal bias story… I am used to filling in the `rest of the story` when it come to the cctimes! and we all hate child molesters, but give us the whole story please, Like fox news says `we report, you decide!`

Cut this man’s pecker off. only way to handle these types of humans.

But i seriously wish he had not called the suicide line. end it all instead, Ronnie – because your life is worthless.

He is 66, hopefully he will die in prison or the inmates get to him. I hope this little girl can have some sort of peace of mind. Prayers to the family and little girl for this healing process.

13 TRU REPUBLICAN April 5, 2014 at 6:17 AM

Keep it up, Republicans.
Yeah, I know, those dumb liberals say all kinds of things, but Fellow Republicans, you need to stay the course and do what you know to be right. Keep working to repeal Obamacare. You must, and you can. Keep doing what you’re doing on minority outreach – it’s working! Keep speaking publicly and loudly on rape, gays, abortion rights, religious freedom and second amendment rights. Keep making laws that favor big business,Wall St (they do know how to regulate themselves) and the rich, over everyday people. Watch for death panels. Remember Kenya!. Remember Bengazi!
Remember…there is NO climate change. The earth IS only 3000 years old.
Keep fighting Obama on everything. Keep doing what you’re doing.

You will see the results in 2016, I promise.

@IPhone or die, calm down, relax. You won’t be able to be with, raise, or protect your daughters from jail.

Why do they need to bring up what he does for a living? It shouldn’t matter unless it was a critical part of the case. He should be held without the possibility of parole or the possibility of a reduced sentence.

@ ranti. The article does say he called the suicide hotline

18 Mark April 5, 2014 at 10:55 AM

Why didn’t the suicide hotline talk him into it?

Of course, the peanut gallery is saying he should have just killed himself and not have confessed. Such short sighted people. What he did to those children was horrible and he deserves what he will be getting. However, saying he is better off dead is just joining the lynch mob and not thinking of the victims. The victims get confirmation that they were molested. The parents can now get their children treatment instead of wondering why 15 year old Jane is having sex with everyone in sight. Those parents can help their children and navigate their trauma in a much clearer way. What that man did, by not killing himself, was allow his victims a level of “reality check” which will aid in their recovery. (I have seen many adults who never got that from their molesters and it makes healing so much harder.) Now, his prison mates will not take too kindly to him and that 18 year sentence will most likely be the rest of his life. He is a bad man, and in the end his victims get to see him punished.

@7 in no way am I defending this creep but it does not say he raped her.

21 Mother April 5, 2014 at 11:06 PM

He is a POS. He was not “remorsful” as his POS attorney has quoted. He’s a narcissist! He lied and changed his story from the very beginning. He was NOT suicidal. It was part of a defense tactic to make his client seem “remorseful”. His wife is a POS. She walked in on him violating the child and still stood by his side.
He is going exactly where he deserves to be….to die in prison!

10 yr restraining order?
Perhaps they should re-think that.

#22- yes, true the justice system is not about being fair or about truth either.
I know of one case where the bf assaulted an infant and used bleach to rid of evidence rendering child severely brain damaged. The infant was placed in a State hospital ans mother later married the bf while he was in prison. She was allowed to visit child and if the child would have lived long enough – he too would have eventually been able to…
Sick
