Concord police arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of driving a pickup truck that struck and killed a woman in Concord late Sunday night.

Tyler Neal Larson of Antioch was arrested on Monday through information from the California Highway Patrol that led investigators to the vehicle believed to be involved in the fatal hit-and-run collision, Officer Ken Carlson said.

Larson was driving a black 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling east on Willow Pass Road near Fifth Street around 11:40 p.m. Sunday, Carlson said.

For unknown reasons the Silverado left the roadway, struck a pedestrian walking west on the sidewalk and fled the scene, he said.

Arriving officers found the pedestrian deceased on the roadway, according to Carlson.

The pedestrian was identified as 46-year-old Yolanda Tiscareno of Concord, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.

On Monday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol contacted Concord police about an incident on eastbound state Highway 4 that happened earlier that day shortly after midnight, Carlson said.

Investigators were given a description of a possible suspect vehicle in addition to the owner’s information and went to Larson’s Antioch home where they located the Silverado, according to Carlson.

Investigators examined the vehicle and determined that the pickup truck was involved in the collision, he said.

Larson was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and booked into county jail in Martinez. His pickup truck was seized as evidence.

This is your hit and run suspect. The media is not disclosing all the facts either. It’s much worse. —

What a POS. His whole Facebook is to worship Rock music, alcohol, weed and partying lifestyle!!!!

I bet that little girl is very proud of this choices now. He is way to old for this worthless exisitance, I hope the jury gets to see your medical marajuana card issued by Dr. Toke.! Sooooooo funny!

I can’t wait for the flood of other rocking party pot heads to post telling us he was such a great guy……. Don’t waist your energy. His Facebook showed us exactly what kind of a person he is….was….will continue to be!!

They had plenty of physical evidence at the scene of the “murder” so it’s very easy to make a very very positive ID. I wonder what the contact with the highway patrol was about.

Good catch, sadly we have another Rosen here. Is there any way to prove DUI after so much time has passed? Did they do a blood test?

8 dj March 18, 2014 at 6:41 AM

I hope this bastard rots in hell!

9 Mustang Sally March 18, 2014 at 7:06 AM

12 But pot is a benign drug, NOT March 18, 2014 at 7:15 AM

All you medicinal marijuana types who wrap yourself up in a cloak of nobility, might do well to remember this guy, and of course, the deadly slaying in San Jose today at a grow house. That is the lifestyle you are aiding and abetting. Stop ruining our neighborhoods.

GET A ROPE!!!!!

15 anon March 18, 2014 at 7:42 AM

Clearly you all don’t know the complete story and circumstances so why don’t you keep your comments to yourselves. So what if he had a “rock n roll” lifestyle. What, no one you know or none of your family members like rock n roll or have NEVER smoked weed or NEVER taken a sip of alcohol? Does that make them less of a human being? There are people hurt by this on both sides of the spectrum. Maybe have a little compassion for the complete human race, stop being so judgemental and stop being so hateful when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Glad to see such a quick arrest- how lock him up! Good job CPD.

21 SadandStupid March 18, 2014 at 7:58 AM

It’s really sad that this person was so cold hearted as to not even stop after he hit the victim. A very uncaring and stupid thing to do. I feel for everyone involved.

22 None March 18, 2014 at 8:07 AM

Come on people it’s a good guy He’s white lol lol

23 what kind of car? March 18, 2014 at 8:07 AM

I thought the truck was reported to be white…? This truck don’t look white to me…. he’ll learn to yodel in a high voice in prison!!

24 Incognito March 18, 2014 at 8:13 AM

Sad, another human being in our society without a conscience.

Now you all know why in yesterday’s Water Cooler topic, I was all for charging “murder” to people like this who get behind the wheel and drive when they are either drunk on under the influence.

25 mw March 18, 2014 at 8:19 AM

Great catch–now throw the keys away!

26 Wildcat March 18, 2014 at 8:44 AM

Probably dropped his roach and that caused him to leave the road. Wonder what happened to cause CHP to contact him. Speeding probably.

27 vcim March 18, 2014 at 8:55 AM

Great job getting this guy. Prays to the Tiscareno Family.

28 Hospital worker March 18, 2014 at 9:01 AM

I thnk charges would be more harsh for someone leaving the scene _ drunk or sober than if he had stopped to help.

29 I wonder what he will March 18, 2014 at 9:08 AM

be charged with. What will our DA charge him with? Many people believe we have a weak DA. What will he do?

Vehicular Manslaughter?
Misdemeanor? 1 in County Jail.
Felony? 2, 4 or 6 years in state prison and potential early release.

If prosecuted and if found guilty, are either of those punishments appropriate for the taking of a life?

30 Bobkitty March 18, 2014 at 9:19 AM

He looks innocent…

31 He got a purty mouth... March 18, 2014 at 9:22 AM

gonna make them dudes in cellblock real happy…..

32 Cowellian March 18, 2014 at 9:31 AM

Anon@15,
How much of the story do you think we need to know?
He killed someone and fled the scene.

33 KenInConcord March 18, 2014 at 9:31 AM

Did anyone else notice the CHP numbers written on the back window of his truck. This usually means the truck was towed by CHP with a date of the 14th. Most likely he was arrested for DUI that same night!

Whoever keeps saying “more to this”. Please tell!!!

34 94519 March 18, 2014 at 9:36 AM

This could have been alcohol, pot, prescription
drugs etc.. The bottom line is this person has
no self control, and that is the real cause of
this tragedy.
To say its because he used pot and it is the
cause, as someone mentioned in an earlier
thread about domestic violence and guns, the
husband that shot his wife, puts all gun owners
in his category , potential murders.
Doing anything that impairs your driving is a
crime.
Their are many people that lack self control
or common sense. And tragically innocent
people will pay the price.
Don’t lump all in one , because you may one
day be “lumped” into a sum yourself.

35 JW March 18, 2014 at 10:28 AM

There are many reasons why things like this happen. You just need to look at society in general; There aren’t many people who want to take personal responsibility for their actions. It has gotten worse over time because many crimes have no consequences. This guy was probably high and figured that he hit someone and took off, thinking that he wouldn’t get caught because people kill people all of the time, right? If you want things to change, then we really need to make justice swift and quick. When my kids make mistakes, I correct it within a reasonable amount of time and I make the punishment fit the crime. I have explained personal responsibility and make sure that they follow it. It is a correct way to raise kids. If this long hair had just been a man, stayed at the scene, took his lumps, then he would only be in half of the trouble he is already in. Think about how infuriating it is when some snot nose gang banger thug kills someone and it makes the media. The guy is obviously guilty and he pleads not guilty. How? Maybe I am a little off track with my analogy but it is the same thing. No one wants to take personal responsibility, everyone has their own agenda and if others suffer due to it, so be it. I am tired of it.

36 anon March 18, 2014 at 11:02 AM

How about that he didn’t know he hit someone. Yes he made a terrible mistake and a horrible judgement call that ended in tragedy but he didn’t know it was a person. He did not knowingly leave a woman for dead. And shame on all of you for being so so so cruel because his innocent family members are involved too. He has a mother and a father and people who love him too. He will be punished by the system but the guilt he will feel knowing what he caused is a lifelong punishment in itself. What he did was awful but it was an accident and he didn’t know. And all people can do is s#*t talk. How about pray for everyone who is hurting because of this preventable tragedy and remind people you care about what can happen if they choose to drive a car if they’re not safe.

37 anonanonagain March 18, 2014 at 11:07 AM

@ Dudeman, his favorite quotations are as follows, “Eat **** and Die. understand i dont f***ing care. hurry up and **** up. His writing and spelling not mine.
He sounds like a real piece of work!!! His fiance has picked a winner!!! She should think twice about the kind of man she is marrying. If he can hit and kill someone in the street and callously drive off then he is a loser……

38 jeffsterz© March 18, 2014 at 11:07 AM

I feel for his little girl. Sucks for all involved.

39 Anonymous March 18, 2014 at 11:11 AM

anon he should have thought about his parents and family before he made the decision to drink and drive and kill somebody. It is not our job to feel bad for his parents. How about your stop focusing on your criminal friend and start saying prayers for the woman who he brutally killed?

40 Anonymous March 18, 2014 at 11:20 AM

His friend says “he didn’t know it was a person”. So he knew he hit something but he didn’t stop and look? I think his friends statement will be held against him in a court of law. DOH!

41 anon March 18, 2014 at 11:20 AM

Anon @ 36, what are you his defense attorney??
Are you giving him a pass??? How could one not know that they hit something??? His truck took on some major damage and he didn’t even bother to check and see what he hit?? He sped off!!
Everyone is entitled to his day in court, but this guy knew and heard in the media that they were looking for someone with major damage on their truck. He could have come forward and done the decent thing then. It will be interesting to see how this case will unfold……

42 anon March 18, 2014 at 11:23 AM

@ Jeffstetz, this guy has a child??? How sad for her to have a father like that……

43 Scrappy March 18, 2014 at 11:46 AM

@Anon I’m with you 100%. I’ve seen a person hit a dog and kept driving! Who’s to say dudeman didn’t think the same thing? I also witnessed a womn run over a large cat slowed down then just kept going! It’s not unusual. Everyone is so quick to judge. Look in the mirror people, EVERYONE has skeletons in their closets, if you disagree, your a liar!!

44 anon March 18, 2014 at 12:04 PM

I dont know this person. I don’t know what happened. I wasn’t there. I was just speculating. I just know from past stories like this that have happened, UNFORTUNATELY, all over the country that sometimes people who are intoxicated black out and don’t know what they’ve done. But whatever, it’s all about judgement and trying to see who can make the most offensive comment apparently. No point in trying to say that lives are now turned upside down and destroyed for many many people, not just one family. I wasn’t defending what he did. But people making jokes and making bets on his toxicology reports and dragging stereotypes and judgements into it is just ignorant and immature. And making comments about his family and daughter is totally unnecessary. They didn’t ask for any of this. Neither did the victim or victims family. I pray for them too. It’s just stupid how everyone turns a horrible situation like this into a worse one.

45 Rick March 18, 2014 at 12:07 PM

@12
Drug violence?? I guess you remember the Valentines Day Massacre, and how it was during prohibition?
But our society made sure we could drink ourselves into oblivion anyway.
Drug laws?
NOT

46 KenInConcord March 18, 2014 at 1:45 PM

@Scrappy.

Yes we all have Skeletons in our closet…… But very few of us have real Skeltons of people we killed while driving drunk, then left the scene.

If you are going to play that card, we all are equal because none is with out guilt. Maybe we can handcuff your daughter or wife to Richard Allen Davis for the summer. Some kill spiders some kill children, apparently it’s all the same to you!!

47 Well Informed Citizen March 18, 2014 at 3:13 PM

READ THIS FOR CLARIFICATION:

He was stopped by the CHP an hour after the fatal collision. He was ARRESTED by CHP for DUI and BOOKED at the county jail and CHP did TOW his truck. They knew his truck was damaged but there was no evidence/info to them at the time he actually ran over someone. He was released that morning from jail and went to the tow yard to pick up his truck. The CHP officers saw the news the next day of where the collision happened and called Concord PD with the lead. A few hours later, Larson was arrested again at his house.

His booking info and all is public info and this was vague with the media but a little digging sure cleared this up.

GREAT WORK CHP AND CONCORD PD!!!!!!

48 Billy bob banjo March 18, 2014 at 5:28 PM

Thank goodness they caught that gutless drunken POS.

For all of you weeping tears for him, be sure to visit him in prison. Maybe start a college fund for his kid. Yeah, right.

49 A little info March 18, 2014 at 6:05 PM

Just FYI, he was at Vinnie’s Bar in concord that night watching Metal Church play. Idk if he was drinking or not but sadly, someone lost their life:( Hopefully justice will be served.

50 Gus March 18, 2014 at 7:31 PM

@#15 I’ll be sure to absolve myself when I run your mother over with truck.

51 ale March 18, 2014 at 8:39 PM

There is no excuse for driving under the influence, no excuse for driving on the sidewalk, and no excuse for leaving a woman dying on the sidewalk. None of those were accidents…they were a result of bad choices.

52 Grace March 19, 2014 at 7:46 AM

Many of us have used substances for personal enlightenment, medication, pleasure, etc., etc.. not many of us are irresponsable killers. I can gladly say I don’t have any skeletons like THAT in MY closet! And I’m clean and sober. :-(

53 Fabulous Haters March 19, 2014 at 9:02 AM

I think you all are a bunch of judgmental people honestly it’s screwed up how the work Is today you judge a book by its cover and what are we teaching are children ????? I mean I’m totally against DUI driving its wrong but I always was tought morals and it’s not to judge someone before you no
Him and the hole story not what he says on his FB or how he looks that’s not knowing him as a person he made a mistake drinking and driving I no but he might whatever happened to innocent until proven wrong and one question why was the lady homeless if she has kids ??? I would never put my mom on the street ever any family member AM
I WRONG ??

54 @ Fabulous Haters March 19, 2014 at 11:40 AM

Oh damn. That was hard to read. Were you WUI?

55 KenInConcord March 19, 2014 at 12:04 PM

@Fabulous Haters

Judging a book by it’s cover means we made a character call based on his looks alone.

We are making a educated judgement about the character of this man based on HIS actions, HIS words, HIS pictures, HIS statements, HIS pastimes, HIS hobbies, HIS clothing, His interest…….

If it walks, talks, partys, dresses, drinks, crashes, smells, smokes, gets arrested, kills and flees like a duck………

If we have the wrong image of this man, that is tragically sad because someone is working VERY VERY hard to present and PROMOTE this image to his friends, his friends-friends and anyone that wanted to look.

56 Puddintain March 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM

#53; It smells like the troll.

57 Cowellian March 19, 2014 at 3:38 PM

Every time there is a story on Claycord about some thug who gets injured, killed, or arrested while putting other people at risk, their family, friends, and groupies come climbing out of the woodwork to lecture us that we don’t know what we’re talking about and we all need to shut up. During the course of the discussion, the thug-lovers will tell us that said thug is innocent until proven guilty, which is definitely not true, and that we wouldn’t feel the same if the thug was somehow related to us. And they will attempt to tell us all this despite their inability to use the written language.

58 Anonymous March 19, 2014 at 4:18 PM

Yeah, what Cowellian said.

59 Puddintain March 19, 2014 at 6:02 PM

#53 is just the agitating troll folks. It’s here trying to bait us again into getting outraged and upset. It likes to do that when it can. Don’t pay it any mind. It’ll crawl back under it’s cold clammy rock.
