The City of Martinez has received the Facility Design Award of Excellence for Rankin Aquatic Center from the California Park & Recreation Society.

The City’s recognition in the category of Facility Design – Aquatics (projects under $5 million) will be honored at the 2014 California and Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Training Conference, held in Ontario, CA, March 5-7, 2014.

The Rankin Aquatic Center (RAC), located in downtown Martinez, provides recreational and competitive swimming programs for the community and jobs for local youth. RAC has an interactive play feature, zero depth Rec Pool and Lap Pool which provides fun and exercise to over 32,000 people each season. RAC was built with Measure H Funds, a Bond Measure passed by Martinez residents November 2008.

According to Mayor Rob Schroder, “The CPRS awards program is the highest recognition our agency can receive and our award is a credit to the (staff, volunteers, partners, etc) that made this happen. We are honored to receive this award on behalf of our residents.”

CPRS Executive Director Jane H. Adams states, “These agencies represent the finest in initiatives addressing community issues, recreation programming, park planning, facility design, and marketing and communications in California. Park and recreation agencies throughout the state provide families, individuals, and groups access to the serenity and inspiration of nature; spaces and places for play and exercise; opportunities for directed and self-directed recreation; positive alternatives for youth to reduce crime and mischief; and activities that facilitate social connections, human development, therapy, the arts, and lifelong learning.

CPRS and our award sponsors, RJM Design Group, Inc., Little Tikes Commercial Play Systems and MVE Institutional, and, are proud to recognize excellence in park and facility design, community initiatives, recreation programs, and marketing and communications.”

Just a little typo in the title…I think.
Do you mean Excellence? (Not excellent).
Not trying to nitpick you. But I thought you might like to know.
It would be easy to fix the title and delete my comment and no one would be the wiser. 🙂
