It sounds like Beirut outside!!! Keep it classy Concord! Even car alarms going off.

They say 13 is an unlucky number. 2013 was not a good year for my family. So far 2014 doesn’t seem like its going to be any better.

Happy 2014.

No resolutions for me except to make it to next year.

Happy New Year, all! I never do resolutions…but always try to look at the new year ahead with fresh optimism. It was hard last year as 2013 proved to be a tough one right out of the gate (I see others on this board found that to be the case, too). I’m just happy to have made it to 2014 with my loved ones intact. @Earl: This was the first time I’ve been home for NYE in ages and I actually enjoyed all the commotion in my neighborhood. Music, fireworks overhead, people yelling out “Happy New Year”…

Keep pursuing your dreams, love your family, and take care of your health.

Happy New Year and hope everyone has a great 2014.

So far it’s been mostly quiet in my neighborhood here in north Concord.

Glad I Use The Astral Plane on Such A Night.

I dunno 'bouts you, but I nevah look fo-ward to any drunks on the road at any time('specially when I'ms a travellin' on 'em) and prefers celestial transportation as I mix my musical metaphors between The Modern Lovers, and Dr. John The Night Tripper.

Happy new year Mayor and warm wishes for Claycordians everywhere! Thank you Mayor for always giving us the latest news and events in our communities. Happy 2014!

Happy New Years, y’all!

It’s too bad the readers of Claycord are so pessimistic. I tell my kids that negative people will always see the world negatively. For me, 2013 was the best year of my life! I look, as I always do, to continue the success in the new year. Happy 2014 everybody!

17 Only one 2014 resolution... January 1, 2014 at 9:14 AM

Burn more wood!!!

Mojo at #6…… Just in hopes that this year will be much better than you expect……
One of my Facebook friends just posted a suggestion that it helps to get a large Mason jar (box, empty drawer, whatever) and at the end of every day, take a slip of paper and write a short note about the BEST thing that happened that day…..doesn’t have to be spectacular….maybe on a relatively bleak day, it might be just something cute that a child said or did or even something you overheard at a check-out counter. But do it every day. Then this coming New Year’s Eve, dump the little pile of paper beside you, pour something you like to drink, and enjoy revisiting the good things you noticed during the year.

Now I like that idea a whole lot, but I’m too “structured” to follow the instructions exactly, so for me the choices would need to be in order in a notebook. Hey, I’ll do it if you will. You game? :-)

…..sorry, my previous comment was addressed to Momo, and. I didn’t notice in time what auto-fill had done.

(New Year’s resolution : “Stay clam and proofread.” ……yeah, that was last year’s resolution, too.)

Happy New Year to all…. I was at Blue Devil Bingo last nite…and had a great time…did not win..but it was so much fun…was worried about coming home at 4 in the morning…but saw lots of police around…so felt safe…and got home ok.

I know 2014 will be a good year for us all…..have a good feeling about it.

@Hank #16
2013 was a difficult year for me and my family. We attended nine memorial services and five of those fell within a two-week period last fall. One death involved the murder of a family member by a mentally-ill, delusional man with a gun – a total stranger – wrong place at the wrong time.

I am optimistic that 2014 will be a better year and I hope you will not judge others who struggled through 2013.

Happy New Year everyone. Mayor, thanks for all you do to keep us informed.

As for the true aspect of this thread?
1. Take more photos.
2. Give up fast food.
3. Get some more exercise.

Day one, and I’m already on par. I climbed a crazy @ss hill this morning with GoGo to shoot photos of the first sunrise of the new year. That and I didn’t go through any drive thru’s on my way home! ;)

23 Incognito January 1, 2014 at 11:52 AM

Happy New Year!
2013 was a pretty good year for me, hoping 2014 to be positive as well. And, as long as I have good health, I have it all.

24 Elwood January 1, 2014 at 1:37 PM

Try to get Duh Phandum the help he/she/it needs.

25 Silva January 1, 2014 at 1:51 PM

As long as I wake up it’s all good. I don’t remember ever making a New Year’s resolution.
Thanks Mr. Mayor for all you do. I wish a good year to all.

26 ClayDen January 1, 2014 at 5:03 PM

@Elwood

I’m afraid that Duh Phandum is beyond help.

27 Killjoy January 1, 2014 at 5:33 PM

Mayor, you need to add a “Like” button to people’s comments. Elwood at #24 is hilarious. :D

For the CLAYCORD ladies…………

You are beautiful.
1. Remember, there are differences but there are no flaws.
2. There’s only one fashion rule: if it makes you feel awesome, wear it.
3. Be willing to be vulnerable so you can also fully experience joy.
4. Control your own perspective. Perspective is everything.
5. Another word for sexy? Confident.
6. Breathe. Deeply and everyday.
7. Express yourself often, kindly and without apology.
8. The adventure is in the attempt. Embrace possibility.
9. To remain youthful, never stop looking for the wonderful.
10. And finally: Create your own story. Never let others create it for you.
