Ridiculous it’s like a buffet for thieves. What are Bart cops good for? Fire em all and replace them with fingerprint robots for entry and exit of the garages.

2 Dorothy December 10, 2013 at 8:36 AM

Don’t leave garage door opener in car. At least not in an easy to see/guess place.

3 JM December 10, 2013 at 8:41 AM

Feeling REALLY GOOD about parking my car there today, thanks! :(

Now that I know how awful the security situation is, I can sod or prepare for it. So, less sarcastically, thanks..

4 JM December 10, 2013 at 8:41 AM

sod = avoid

5 Peanut Gallery December 10, 2013 at 8:55 AM

Lets see……if we wall off Pittsburg and Antioch the crime should drop dramatically.

6 Anon-e-Cat December 10, 2013 at 8:58 AM

I have been told to keep your car registration and proof of insurance in your wallet, not in the car. Also, if you have Navi, don’t program your home address in it’s memory.

It’s too bad that this is happening around here.

7 @Dorothy #2 December 10, 2013 at 9:02 AM

Even better- If the thieves break into your car they can find out your address from your registration and use your garage door remote or homelink button to gain access to your garage. As a precaution, copy your registration and keep that copy in your glove box with the address whited out.

Doing that is a good way to guard against having your car and house burglarized–especially at BART, or long term parking at airports, etc.

8 Random Task December 10, 2013 at 9:02 AM

wow so the dems allow the unions to continually fleece the tax payers and yet let the riders who are keeping em employed get fleeced again as they are robbed and exploited ……SHUT DOWN BART …..FIRE EVERYONE ….BUST THE UNION ….AND ALLOW THE RIDERS TO VOTE ON WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT GIVING EMPLOYEES AND EXTRA 6 WEEKS OF VACATION TIME OR MAKING SURE CRIMINALS ARE NOT PREYING ON THE PEOPLE KEEPING OUR ECONOMY FLOWING ……….FIX BART OR ADD IT TO THE DEMS LACK OF FOCUS ON THE PEOPLE. THEY LINE THEIR WALLETS WITH KICKBACKS AND PAYOFFS AS WE ARE TRYING TO BOUNCE BACK AND NOT GO UNDER THE DEMS ARE WALLOWING IN OUR FATE AND SLAPPING US ON THE WAY DOWN

9 T-Rex December 10, 2013 at 9:09 AM

Mr. Mayor,

Do you have a cheat sheet readily available on the BART crimes report for all the stations, so we can compare the incidents at our station(s) to all the other ones? Or just an easy comparison ranking list on the “safest” stations (If there is such a thing) for everyone to see.

10 Dr. Jellyfinger December 10, 2013 at 9:21 AM

If I had a bike that had 21 speeds why would I need to use a BART train? Man I’d just put that thing into 21st gear & leave a contrail from Concord to the Embarcadero! ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzoooooooooooooooom!

12 Steve December 10, 2013 at 9:37 AM

Mr. Mayor,

any chance you can ask BART or CPD, why so many car burglaries are happening in the structure and very few are happening on the outside lots? One would figure that parking right next to the entrance would mean more protection for your car.

13 Maggie December 10, 2013 at 9:42 AM

It’s simple….if you drive a Honda don’t park in a Bart parking lot!!

14 CLAYCORD.com December 10, 2013 at 9:45 AM

Will do, Steve. Maybe a BART PD Officer can also chime in if he/she is reading this?

15 Concordejet December 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM

so much for gone in 60 seconds

A patron parked, locked, and left their vehicle at 1015 hours. The patron returned at 2045 hours and discovered that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim vehicle is a 1992 Honda Accord 4 door blue in color.

Just think how fast THAT car got stolen within 30 minutes UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!

16 TWoods December 10, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Glad they want to increase fares, and charge at every station for parking to assure our safety and security.

17 Lori December 10, 2013 at 10:31 AM

Nice job BART officers !!!! Paid more than any other other police force and still don’t/can’t/won’t do their job. PATHETIC !!!! Get out there and do your job!!!!! Other stations not included in this report are worse where are all the officers and what are they doing? Certainly not taking a bite out of crimes against riders.

18 Frank L. December 10, 2013 at 10:34 AM

Here we go again!

1. Club your vehicle (Or have it stolen, and we can read about it on Claycord. Job security for the Mayor).

2. Don’t leave loose change, audio CD’s, emergency road kits, etc. in your vehicle. THEY CAN EASILY BE STOLEN!.

3. Don’t leave your bike at BART all day. If your bike is your only method of transportation, fine. BRING IT WITH YOU ON BART. I SEE IT DAILY!

There’s a reason I’VE NEVER BEEN VICTIMIZED, and I’m in my 50′s. I use COMMON SENSE AND GOOD JUDGMENT.

For those of you who are sick of my brutal honesty, don’t read my posts.

19 California Nightmare December 10, 2013 at 10:42 AM

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Auto theft increased significantly in California and other property crimes also rose after the state began an initiative resulting in more inmates being released early, according to the first independent study of crime trends driven by the “realignment” program to reduce the state prison population.

http://www.mercurynews.com/california/ci_24694289/study-california-prison-changes-boost-property-crime

Wake up people and connect the dots. Democrats have failed to fund adequate prison space and now are releasing THOUSANDS of criminals under court order. I feel sorry for the police, who are stuck with a “catch and release” system due to overcrowding of the local jails.

40 years of democrat control in both houses of the legislature has given us higher costs of living (gas/energy/housing), higher unemployment than most of the country, more crime, lousy public schools, and deteriorating infrastructure.

Where does the money go? To overpaid government employees, excessive pensions, and boondoggles like the bullet train to nowhere.

20 @Frank December 10, 2013 at 11:12 AM

Well, give yourself a cookie.

I’m also in my fifties and I haven’t been a victim of crime, either. That’s because the one time I did catch somebody trying to break into my car, I beat the crap out of him and let him go so he could tell his friends that crime doesn’t pay.

21 Frank L. December 10, 2013 at 11:23 AM

@Frank-20

I don’t eat cookies, not much for sweets. Keeps the weight off.

Thanks for thinking of me.

22 Cowellian December 10, 2013 at 11:41 AM

Club the crooks!

23 jtkatec December 10, 2013 at 11:54 AM

On 12/2 there were three incidences, all after 5:00 pm

On 12/3, there were three incidences, all after 5:00 pm

12/5 blows my theory that someone is getting off of their (legitimate) job around 5:00 pm and committing crimes, but then again….
On 12/7, there are three incidences, all after 5:00 pm.

Hmmmm, I say we form a (lynch) mob and hang out after 5:00 pm
Probably take BART to the next station to commit their crimes.

24 What? December 10, 2013 at 12:02 PM

1015= 10:15 AM, 2045= 8:45PM,
Unless I’m mistaken thats a bit more than
30 minutes. Just sayin.

25 Club User December 10, 2013 at 12:04 PM

@ Cowellian….22

To club the crooks, you would have to purchase a club first, and people don’t want to do that.

They’d rather have their cars stolen, especially Honda and Toyota owners, who could’ve obtained one free from the city of Concord.

26 anon December 10, 2013 at 12:06 PM

This is awful! Aren’t the parking lots and structures under camera surveillance ? If not, they should be. London police have increased their efective patrol by increasing camera surveillance as per CBS 60 Minutes report.

27 mika December 10, 2013 at 12:33 PM

who would steal CD’s? Most of the world uses MP3 players. How much value could they have?
Epic fail BART police. . .

28 Mrs. V December 10, 2013 at 1:32 PM

@anon
London police do not carry guns either-so that can tell you how effective the surveillance is.

29 anon December 10, 2013 at 3:49 PM

Why aren’t the license plates given out so we can keep a look out for the stolen vehicles? Is it so the Police can find them and get pins to wear on their uniforms for the most recovered vehicles?

30 Retired Cop December 10, 2013 at 4:14 PM

“I’m also in my fifties and I haven’t been a victim of crime, either. That’s because the one time I did catch somebody trying to break into my car, I beat the crap out of him and let him go so he could tell his friends that crime doesn’t pay.”

You did not hold him for the cops??
He will just do it again– you failed your community – big time.
Like “his friends” would listen to him–they would laugh that he got beat up.

31 Peanut Gallery December 10, 2013 at 4:56 PM

Why are people blaming the cops? How about some responsibility on these f’n dirtbags who commit the crime. How about not being PC and calling it and people as you see them….F’n scum. I don’t care if your white, yellow, black, blue or green…a dirtbag is a dirtbag. It’s not the cops’ fault that some lowlife decides to take someone else’s stuff. You can’t blame the cops for everything. How about the lawyers that fight for these assholes’ rights when they have broken the law. If your going to place blame elsewhere, besides the damn criminal, it should be at some of these lawyers that get up in court and protect these people. You blame the Cops for things getting stolen, THEN…..when they do their job and shoot one of these assholes, kid or no kid, everyone jumps on the Civil Rights Banwagon!!?!?! I don’t care if a teenager gets shot for pointing a gun at a cop. As tragic as it is, the kid should know better. Common sense seems to be lost these days……….
Life is pretty simple…… FOLLOW THE RULES. It’s that easy. If a cop pulls you over, pull over (to the right), DON’t point a gun or weapon at a cop ( when did it become ok to do that anyway???) if you do, expect to become DEAD. PARENTS….. Show some responsibility for your kids, If you can’t, then DONT BREED!

32 Random Task December 10, 2013 at 5:13 PM

well all those cars I am sure are somewhere on monument ….ahhh monument the dems vote catcher

33 Random Task December 10, 2013 at 5:22 PM

@31 well as stated by another claycordian the dems decided to speal all our tax money so none went to build prisons …..so around election time they release a bunch to gather more votes they are scared now The Obamascamma has smashed em ……..way to re-elect a crook and scammer ……..feel the pain this is a dem state and they will bleed it dry since the bleeding hearts fall for their mumbo jumbo every single time …even now the state is the worst run state in the U.S. this is a dem state and has been for over 40 years …obviously they have done a bang up job ……cities bankrupt …crime running amuck …..cops and fire shrunk down to skeleton crews……streets in disrepair ……..bums everywhere……….pollution …….high electric bills ……..now water went up 15%……more prisoners being released years before their sentence is up ( as if it mattered …are they really being…. ” bleeding hearts ” will state rehabilitated ) NO WAY …..another scam by the dems to invoke fear allowing them to raise another tax to steal from ……….yet this state will go down without a fight since the tree hugger society would rather live on the streets anyways broke and homeless with no future …….sad to see this large state take it for the team as you will

34 @Retired Cop #30 December 10, 2013 at 7:21 PM

I didn’t hold him because in bleeding heart California, I am the one who would have ended up going to jail. Not the poor, misguided, misunderstood youth that attempted to deprive me of my hard-earned belongings.

Next time, I’ll do something meaningful to get criminals off the streets like requiring a signature on my weekly Geritol delivery.

35 Ac45 December 10, 2013 at 8:34 PM

does anyone know if Concord PD is still giving away free clubs, or was it just a certain amount that was handed out?

36 Steve December 10, 2013 at 11:12 PM

Most of these crimes could easily be avoided with common sense.

True, that. Only a fool would live here unless they had to.

If you don’t like it here, MOVE OUT!

41 anon December 11, 2013 at 12:39 PM

Firm grasp of the obvious you have there, Mitch. It’s a shame %75 of people here aren’t even as smart as you, but all of you are as pleasant to be around.
