It’s not black ice, just the regular stuff. Looks like there was a small flood of water overnight that crossed the intersection and froze. Keep a steady pace, don’t try to turn, brake, or change accelleration quickly and you should be fine. Police and crews were looking at it at about 6:30am when I went through it, so they may have applied salt and gotten it melted, assuming they also fixed the original leaking point.

Ah, that explains the crazy traffic this morning. Coming down from Clayton, I was wondering why it was more backed up than usual.

Would the police be involved if it was white ice???

Thanks for the heads up, heading that way soon. I saw the pool of water yesterday in the shadow of the BART tracks when I was turning onto Oakland Blvd. I thought about the potential danger if it freezes…not something I usually think about.

YV is gridlocked all the way back to Oak Grove.
Took almost 20 mins to get from Oak Grove
to Bancroft. Just now.

Just came past on YVR. Still a mess westbound with some trucks and workers leaning on their shovels at Oakland road, thats at the BART station. Let’s blame BART. lol.

Wondered what was happpening. At 7:15 this morning, westbound Treat was gridlocked at least from Cowell to Denkinger. All lanes packed, almost stopped. Maybe avoiding YV???

In CA, brown ice gets more attention. Not that I’m brown.

This was caused by a water main leak that has slowly been going on for 2 days now. The water company finally got out there this morning after their leaky pipe created this icy patch.
