Residents were evacuated from Bayberry Care Center on Adobe St. in downtown Concord after a report came in of smoke coming from a locked laundry room, but in the end, it ended up being heavy steam, according to ConFire.

This occurred at about 11:45pm on Saturday.

There’s no need to worry if you saw several fire trucks in front and in back of the building.

WHY was steam coming from the laundry room? Glad the firemen came, and no doubt they checked to make sure that exhaust vents were free of lint.

Glad the old folks are ok.

No one in the place had a key to the laundry room in the middle of the day with machines running??????????? Some things need tightening up there I fear. The state will love to hear this story.

11:45pm, not the middle of te day. Soiled linen, hot water = steam. Sound like the staff responded appropriately.
