This is an update to the story we posted earlier this week about the “Scare Away Hunger” event at Concord High School (see update at the bottom).
Concord High School held their annual “Scare Away Hunger” event this week.
Here’s information from a parent of a CHS Student….
My wife and I had the pleasure of chaperoning the Scare Away Hunger event last night at Concord High. This is the third annual Scare Away Hunger event and is sponsored by Tesoro Golden Eagle Refinery on behalf of the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
There were over 100 students and many parents, faculty and administrators from Concord High participating. These students gave up their evening to something great. Their task was to go door to door and collect canned food and donations on Halloween Eve for the Food Bank.
These catch just a small sample of the effort these students put in. The students literally ran door to door to cover the entire enrollment area of Concord High. They hit every street and every house in 2 hours. They filled every barrel the Food Bank brought and more. After the Food Bank truck was full, the cans kept coming and they filled many Tesoro trucks too.
Kudos to the amazing students who did such a positive thing for their community, kudos to Tesoro for sponsoring it and many, many thanks to all of the people in the Concord High enrollment area who gave so generously.
Way to go Concord, and way to go Concord High! It doesn’t get much better than that. We are proud of all you!
Proud Concord High Parents
That’s wonderful, great job CHS Students!
UPDATE: Concord High students collected 11,781 pounds, enough for over 14,000 meals, according to the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano.
