The Water Cooler – What Do You Wish You Could Live Without?

September 20, 2013 12:00 pm · 63 comments

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it!

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.

What is one thing you can’t live without, but you wish you could?

Talk about it….

Bad Drivers, societal leeches, bums, televangelists, politicians, self-absorbed people, criminals, perverts, and alarm clocks.
I know that this isn’t what the mayor is asking about, but I’m forced to live with this list (and others not mentioned) because they are EVERYWHERE!

Gas…. I spend way too much money on just putting gas in my tank, just to make it to work and back.

All the items purchased over the years that now just seem like clutter. I envy people who live in a minimalist way.

P.S. I think some have misread the question…. lol

Wish I didn’t “need” to keep ALL the memorabilia from my mostly wonderful life. I even have every picture postcard I’ve ever received or bought while on trips, not to mention the Christmas card annual photos…even of friends’ grandchildren, the handmade cards from children, grandchildren, and crafting friends. You name it, and it’s here somewhere!

Facebook and the internet. I used to do just fine without it. Not sure why we need it now so much.

Money, cause of so much stress.

31 Dorothy September 20, 2013 at 2:25 PM

I could do without people who think I’m a private ATM or taxi service. I’m starting to dream up excuses as to why I need to say No.

32 Paul (formerly) in South Concord September 20, 2013 at 2:29 PM

Cigarettes. Ugh. Not kidding. Tough to quit, even tougher to stay quit. Personal best was 3 months. Tired of it, ready to be done. No preaching at me, I’ve tried all but the pills that are available. That just might be my next step. Been talking to my Doc about it. She thinks I can do it, but I don’t want to be on of the 50% that relapse. *sigh* 🙁 okay, whining over!

Also, people who say “Liberals” or “Conservatives”, because they think their “team” is 100% right and have no time or intelligence to get to know how real people, not cartoon characters, think!

Rant over.

The question is “what is the one thing you CAN’T live without”.
Sorry you can’t live without rude, self centered, impatient people.

I can’t live without my Peet’s macha green tea latte each morning, even though I know it’s loaded with sugar. Also the internet which is quite addicting. How many hours have I wasted on this technology. Probably five years by now…..

42 anonanonagain September 20, 2013 at 4:45 PM

@ Paul, good for you!!! Good luck on your next adventure……

Sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Actually, these days I’m living with none of the above. Or maybe just the second one.

48 anon September 20, 2013 at 7:15 PM

49 Antler September 20, 2013 at 7:33 PM

KAD at #44 ~ ~ ~ Uhhhhhhhh, yeah mine do! I don’t enjoy scrapbooking, so they are in boxes and boxes and boxes. But recently I have started to “deal” them into stacks and giving them to each of the children to keep if they want to do so.
But there are so many notes I just can’t bear to give up! One favorite is an elaborately illustrated hate note from our then 7-year-old younger daughter to her dad…..goes something like
“You ned to stop hoging the tulebisson. And I do not like futball games. And you are bad you need to go away from tubbison and let me see. And plese do not hog tubisson. I LOVE YOU. (her name)”
I really have always wanted to have that one framed, except that it’s written and drawn on BOTH sides of that grammar school type of lined newsprint paper.

Food. Too time consuming . .
the shopping for it … the
lugging it home from the
market … the storing it …
the preparing it … the cleaning
up after it … the not really
enjoying the eating of it any

57 His Much Better Half September 21, 2013 at 12:14 AM

My husband. We’ve been together 18 years, married almost 15. Some times it’s all I can do to keep from strangling him. Other times I want to jump his bones.

Smoking… Terrible rotten habit, but comforting. BTW the pills give you weird dreams, first couple days are funny. After that it is distressing….
