This just in! A Claycordian encountered a suspicious person who rang her doorbell, knocked on her door, and then was caught looking over her side gate today at 1pm.
Here’s the story….
Hi Claycord! I never thought I’d have to write to you, but today, something happened that I’d like to let everybody know about.
I live on the Concord/Walnut Creek border near Citrus & Oak Grove, and at about 1pm I was folding laundry on the couch when I heard the doorbell ring, immediately followed by a very loud knock. I ignored it because I had a pile of dishtowels on my lap, and didn’t really want to move.
About 30 seconds later, my motion detector ringer goes off in my house. I have a detector in front of my side gate to let me know if anybody is over there. I quickly jumped up, looked out my kitchen window (sideways) and saw a man peeking over my back fence. He was a white man in his 40′s with long gray hair and a very light beard. I ran out my backyard so my locked fence would be between us, and asked him what he was doing. He said “I am just looking for my cat”. He said he lost it the other day and has been looking for it ever since.
I didn’t really believe him, because 1. he acted really nervous and ran down the street and got into a waiting car (it was too far to get a licence plate) and 2. I have NEVER seen him around the neighborhood.
I just wanted to let other Claycordians know about this. I called the police but have not heard back from them.
Thanks for the note!
You should always make noise and let somebody know that you’re home if they knock or ring the doorbell, even if you don’t plan on answering. A lot of crooks will knock or ring to try to find out if anybody is home, and if nobody answers, they’ll just go around to the back of the house and break-in through a door or window, where nobody can see them.
