As Claycord.com previously reported, a Police Officer with the San Francisco Police Department was recently arrested in Concord for child molestation.
At the time, the officer wasn’t identified.
The Concord Police Department released the following update this afternoon regarding the case against the Concord resident:
On August 8, 2013, the Concord Police Department initiated an investigation into the relationship between a 15 year-old Concord juvenile and 37 year-old Richard H. Hastings III, a Concord resident.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives established probable cause to arrest Mr. Hastings for committing several sex offenses in Concord against the juvenile. An arrest warrant was obtained, along with a search warrant for Mr. Hasting’s residence.
On August 21, 2013 at about 8:15 AM, Mr. Hastings was arrested without incident by Concord Police Officers, in his car on Monument Bl. near Ramona Ln. The arrest warrant was served, and Detectives served the search warrant at his home in Concord.
Mr. Hastings was transported and booked at the Concord PD Jail, where he subsequently posted bond and was released.
During this investigation, Detectives learned that Mr. Hastings is currently employed as a peace officer by the San Francisco Police Department. The San Francisco Police Department has been advised of this investigation and Mr. Hasting’s arrest.
On August 29, 2013, Detectives presented the investigation to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, for review and consideration of the following criminal charges:
Penal Code § 288(c)(1) – Lewd and lascivious act with a child 14 or 15 years
Penal Code § 286(b)(2) – Sodomy with a child under 16
Penal Code § 272– Contribute to the delinquency of a minor
This is still an on-going, complex investigation and no additional information will be released to the public at this time.
