Too bad the City didn’t hold a legal appeal hearing before the Building Board of Appeals on the Dome demolition. They’ll be looking at a Brown Act complaint with the District Attorney’s Office and possibly a Grand Jury complaint. That will unfortunately keep everyone busy for a while, but the lack of oversight and failure to follow even the most basic open meeting laws is an ongoing problem in Pleasant Hill. Sloppy work carries consequences.
Also, the Contractor violated several EPA and Cal-OSHA regulations and likely some Bay Area Air Quality Management District regulations as well. It will take time, but hopefully the other agencies who exercise regulatory oversight will do a thorough investigation, complete with fines and sanctions for the Contractor, SyWest and anyone else involved in the hasty abatement of hazardous materials and the rush to demolish the dome.
