Homeowner Witnesses Suspects Kick-In Front Door During Burglary Attempt

March 27, 2013 · 67 comments

Concord Police are searching for four suspects after an interrupted burglary off Ayers Road in Concord on Wednesday.

The crime happened at about 2pm when a woman was inside her home on Murchio Drive and saw a group of four black males kick in her front door.

When the criminals realized she was home, they immediately fled the scene in a grey Volkswagon with a license plate of 6ZFT155. According to the Concord Police, the vehicle is a rental.

A Sheriff’s helicopter was overheard for a brief period of time to assist with the search, however, none of the suspects were located.

Scary.

Glad the police go there quickly.

2pm on a Wednesday???? Here’s an Idea, GET A JOB YOU LOW LIFES

3 Anonymous March 27, 2013 at 5:05 PM

The rental company knows who rented that car and the person who rented the car knows who was driving and attempting to burglarize someone’s home. I hope she got a good look at the criminals and can identify them in a line up.

Crooks know if they are caught they will do little time.
From a post on Claycord in 2012. “Here is just one example, under AB 109 (realignment): If a crook has 5 prior felony convictions for auto theft and has been to state prison 3 times in the recent past, and is convicted of a new auto theft, he/she CANNOT be sent to prison anymore. He can only go to county jail and automatically gets 1/2 time credits. Even if he violates probation for his/her 6th auto theft, he/she still cannot be sent to prison. Word has gotten out among the crooks that the price of theft crimes has gone way down.”

That would have been scary.

@Chris

Perhaps she is retired, or doesn’t work a 9-5 M-F job? You must be very tired from jumping to conclusions.

8 Too bad she didn't greet them with a 12 Gauge Shotgun March 27, 2013 at 5:16 PM

and left them to die like stinking rats, flopping around in puddles of their own putrid death bile and feces.

15 laura March 27, 2013 at 5:34 PM

We’ve had a few home burglaries in our neighborhood recently. One neighbor saw a rental Zipcar in my driveway the other day with the license plate removed.

16 laura March 27, 2013 at 5:37 PM

I should also note, we’re in Concord too, and our door was busted in also.

17 Horse'n Around March 27, 2013 at 5:41 PM

Is Ayers a bad place? You always seem to hear either home break ins, car chases etc .Glad I don’t live there.

anyone know what happened at Burger King today? Heard lots of sirens…

19 Mr Pink March 27, 2013 at 5:52 PM

I look forward to the update stating that they have been captured. If mug shots are posted, even better. I like to be able to direct my hate at a face.

20 Anon March 27, 2013 at 5:56 PM

@Nothing

Maybe I can do one (sadly) better. The idiots in this state voted DOWN three strikes. The only thing that makes any sense is that we have a majority of felons in this state now.

Since criminals think the price of committing a crime has gone down that only emboldenes them. Time to even the playing field and make sure they know citizens mean business. Arm up, get NRA training and let these punks know if they try that crap again they will staring down the barrel of my nine milli.

23 anon March 27, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Too bad they didn’t kick in my door, they would have received a life sentence six feet under.

24 anon March 27, 2013 at 6:03 PM

Why this house? What did they hope to find?

25 Anon March 27, 2013 at 6:04 PM

@Chris. How do you know the woman doesn’t work nights or maybe she was just home for lunch.

26 RunnerDope March 27, 2013 at 6:10 PM

Howard,

Where does it say the police got there quickly?

27 Sad but true March 27, 2013 at 6:16 PM

#4 is correct and often those rental cars change hands so many times it can be very difficult to find who actually had it when it was used during a crime. It’s fairly common for people to rent them, then lose/trade them for drugs, and not report it to the rental company. Eventually the rental company reports it for 10855VC, but the occupant caught driving is rarely charged by the DA, because the DA knows the jury pool around here is a bunch of liberal saps.

Terrific. These lowlife thugs continue to perpetuate the young black thug stereotype. Geez. way to go losers!!! Martin Luther King would be spitting on your azzes……

I’m still waiting for them to put a “Check Point” up at the tunnel on 24 leading into central county.

37 Mika March 27, 2013 at 7:34 PM

That must have been so scary for the lady, at least the crooks fled instead of hurting her. Four black men in a car, middle of the day in nice neighborhood in Concord–no good comes from it.

Time to o get my gun

42 Anon March 27, 2013 at 8:37 PM

@MikeyV

My mistake, however it does seem watered down to say the third one has to be “serious or violent”. I figure after two, if there is a third call it day regardless. Leave it to the pansy’s in this state to get someone another, another, another chance.

43 Anon March 27, 2013 at 8:38 PM

@Tired of the black and Hispanic crime out here

That’s a good idea, but we’ll need for one for gun point as well.

44 inmotion March 27, 2013 at 8:52 PM

That explains the helicopters!

45 H March 27, 2013 at 9:02 PM

This is about 1/2 mile from my house. It seems that this was just a burglary and not a robbery, as they fled when they found out she was home. Still, this is cause for concern. I work from home a lot and I was wondering what the helicopter was about.

Now, if these 4 men had wished to do this harm, they could have easily, unless she was armed.

They could probably deal with me easily too, if I weren’t armed, but most of the time I’m at home I have a firearm within arms reach.

46 Babs March 27, 2013 at 9:51 PM

I think Chris was saying the four guys on a Wed at 2pm should get a job …not the poor lady.

47 Craig Cannon March 27, 2013 at 9:52 PM

Black, White, or Other. I’m not Prejudice. A group of men coming busting through my Front Door, I feel my life is in danger. I might fire out of fear. If they run, not so. Well I remember growing up, and Farmer Joe used to shoot us Kids with Salt Pellets from his Shotgun, when we came on his land….Humm…..a few in the ass, might give em’ something to think about!

48 anonymous March 27, 2013 at 10:58 PM

Just got to say: Our vice president Joe Biden advised gun owners to “just fire the shotgun through the door.” and he also advises women should be down at their local gun store buying a “double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun” and fire “two blasts” outside if they feel threatened by a home intruder.

Of course after they fire those 2 blast in the air, their double-barrel shotgun is empty, but I wont tell if you dont :)

49 Lari March 27, 2013 at 11:02 PM

Someone wondered if this was a bad area (Ayers). Not necessarily…though, I do find that the closer one is to Clayton Rd, it can get a bit sketchy.

50 Fig Newton March 28, 2013 at 5:04 AM

Gee whiz,, these four males may have run short on their EBT card,, they need a little something to get by till the end! If they came from over the hill, perhaps they put in their last dime in their hoopty to commit the crime! They need to increase the EBT cards! More Entitlement! More WIC,,and they should all be given clothing vouchers every month for baggy pants and big tent size t shirts! and give them 100% dental,,to make sure they all have gold teef ,,and last thing, make sure they have a shoe allowance for new shoes every month ! Thats all these people live for!

51 anon March 28, 2013 at 5:55 AM

At least someone was smart enough to get the license plate for a change.

52 @ Babs March 28, 2013 at 7:09 AM

Thank you…I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who got that….I was about to make the same comment as you.

53 Mac March 28, 2013 at 7:29 AM

Is there more to this story ?
For 4 guys to pick a house to break down the door at 2 pm.
Seems like they would know of something in the house before hand.

Sounds a bit fishy to me.

54 Connie Dobbs March 28, 2013 at 8:18 AM

I like how gravity doesn’t work in Joe Biden’s dimension.

55 Live near Ayers March 28, 2013 at 8:33 AM

We live near Ayers in a quiet court, nobody would know that every single house in the court has someone home everyday, retirees, telecommunters, police officers, night shifters,,,,a thief woudl have a tough time if we heard anyone screem.

56 Kimchee March 28, 2013 at 9:09 AM

@ Clay Den and everyone else who CAN NOT read; #2 Chris was referring to the individuals who kicked in the door as low-lifes, NOT the homeowner. Duh!

57 Howard K Mullins III March 28, 2013 at 9:58 AM

@Runnerdope

I had the police scanner on, heard the call.

58 Friendly Neighbor March 28, 2013 at 9:59 AM

I know the woman in this article personaly and have for more than 10 years. She is one of the most honest and upstanding people i know. To the people impying (or outright saying) there was something specific in the house they were after, knock it off. How bout instead of trying to blame the victim you focus on the criminals that scared the crap out of a woman IN HER OWN HOME.

59 Just a Concordian March 28, 2013 at 11:05 AM

@Friendly Neighbor

I think the point being made here is that for 4 guys to kick in the door at broad daylight, driving an easily traced rental there has to be a pretty big reason.

While you may know the woman, you don’t know what she or her family members might have been involved in.

60 pa pa March 28, 2013 at 11:08 AM

#43 and what about white crime

61 Ragin' Asian March 28, 2013 at 11:40 AM

Let me preface this by saying I’m not looking for an argument. However, I feel compelled to comment on this. For those insinuating that the woman was involved in some sort of shady dealing, it’s much too easy to jump to all kinds of conclusions and make assumptions based on, in my opinion, extremely scanty data.

This blog post, while capturing the gist of what occurred, is not a complete picture of what happened and may even contain erroneous/misleading information. There are so many details that just cannot be gleaned from this tiny snippet of information. So unless you have read the full police report, I would suggest withholding judgment until you do so.

Love to all.

62 Friendly Neighbor March 28, 2013 at 11:56 AM

@Just a Concordian

Were you aware that most home burglaries happen in broad daylight? Why? Because that’s when most people are working and not home. Thieves are cowards and in general want to get as much as they can without the threat of getting hurt or caught.

Additionally having known this woman AND HER FAMILY for more than 10 years I can say without a doubt, other than simple robbery, there was no reason for them to target this home.

Lastly if something like this ever happens to you, and I truly hope it doesn’t, I do hope the kind of suspicion you and others are directing at the victim of this crime is returned to you in kind.

63 TooManyJerks March 28, 2013 at 1:02 PM

What a bunch of brazen jerks. Hope these scum are caught. YUCK!

64 Lari March 28, 2013 at 1:26 PM

@Friendly Neighbor: do you know if the home has an alarm system/signage out front? Just curious. We have an ADT sign prominently displayed and always arm the house when we’re not home, but my husband works at home in a detached studio at the back of the main house. So, the house would not be armed during the day and he probably wouldn’t even hear if people tried to bust in. Just wondering if the signage alone is a deterrent? Thoughts anyone?

65 Friendly Neighbor March 28, 2013 at 1:55 PM

@Lari
My friend has asked me not to post any specifics about her home for obvious safety reasons. I can tell you in my experience the two biggest deterants to burglers are an alarm system (with sign) and a dogs bark. The vast majority of thieves will skip a house with an alarm sign as they dont want to take the chance its legit. thier goal is speed and stealth. What many people dont know is that the front door is the primary target followed any other wooden doors that can be kicked in. Despite tv and movies most burglers dont like to break windows because the sound is very distinct, where as the sound of a door being kicked in sounds very similar to a car door slam. hope this helps.

66 @ Lari March 28, 2013 at 2:30 PM

We have very prominent ADT signs and we still got broken into which was very frustrating. However, the good thing is nothing was taken as the thugs ran off when the ear splitting alarm went off. My guess is illiterate burglars. Still, I sleep much better with an alarm.

67 Lame March 29, 2013 at 10:08 AM

It’s funny the Liberal and Democrat posts. My home and many others had burglaries during BUSH. Whats the excuse for that? Why can’t any post be made without some stupid Gun or Liberal post.
