Also today, Walnut Creek Intermediate Principal Mike Cannon sent the following message to all parents/guardians:
Dear WCI Families,
I have two separate incidents to relay to you that have occurred over the past two days.
#1 – Today, a female student was followed on the Iron Horse trail when she was walking to school. The student ran to safety, and WCI administrators and the WCPD were immediately contacted. Walnut Creek PD quickly put an officer on the trail and spoke with the student about the situation. The male was described as Hispanic, in his early 30’s, wore a gray sweatshirt with his hood on and was clean shaven.
#2- The Walnut Creek PD contacted WCI administrators on 2/26/12 regarding inappropriate messages sent through social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Kik) to female students at WCI. Today, the WCPD was able to apprehend the person who contacted these female students.
Please take this time to remind your student to walk in groups to and from school when possible. Also, speak with your child about internet safety and how they should alert an adult immediately if they receive inappropriate material, especially from a stranger.
Thank you for your attention to these matters.
Principal, Walnut Creek Intermediate
