Concord Boulevard (towards downtown Concord) has been shut down at Denkinger due to a major injury solo vehicle crash in front of Concord High.

The driver of the vehicle received major head injuries, and the passenger was also injured, but is expected to survive.

The road will be closed until at least 9pm.

I was passing by very shortly after. There was an abundance of emergency vehicles 97. It did not look good. Prayers to those involved.

Daily occurrence.
Are cell phone records or cell phones ever looked into? Heck NO!!!
Are a Large majority of drivers per-occupied with their cell phones WHILE DRIVING?
HECK YES!!!! Open your eyes, if you can’t see that – it’s because YOU ARE BLIND.

The Real McCoy February 15, 2013 at 7:55 PM

Quick! Someone get their gun and shoot the driver in the head, he’s obviously a drunk driver!

marinemom February 15, 2013 at 7:56 PM

Today I saw a person on a motorcycle texting while driving…now I have seen it all.

Jessica February 15, 2013 at 8:06 PM

Sad to say it was a 4 year old little girl, her father and there dog in the car.thank god the little girl is fine.

CatWoman February 15, 2013 at 8:07 PM

folks text while driving–why not text while on a motorcycle. It’s only about 100 time more dangerous.

Winston February 15, 2013 at 8:10 PM

This needs to stop! The carnage we see every day on the roads around here is just stunning. I’m much more worried about road safety than crime.

Concord Native February 15, 2013 at 8:10 PM

Just walked the block down to check it out. CPD is busy with investigations. There is a small white car up on the curb at the end of Mendocino and Concord Blvd. The car looks to be totaled.

CatWoman February 15, 2013 at 8:16 PM

lol ha ha ha ha..I still have to laugh at that one 🙂

Too many of these car accident postings. Any more lost pets postings? Great to know sassy and lady were found!

Mr Pink February 15, 2013 at 8:24 PM

And the driver?

12ga February 15, 2013 at 8:26 PM

I know someone who saw the accident and said he was going like 60mph in the middle lane…

CatWoman February 15, 2013 at 8:36 PM

Speeding in the city, nothing good ever comes from that.

anon February 15, 2013 at 8:45 PM

it’s only 2 lanes wide, can’t be in the middle lane. The car was wrapped around the traffic pole in front of Concord high at mendocino, so they were most likely speeding.

Parsnip February 15, 2013 at 8:53 PM

A little bizarre that posters imply the driver as drunk or “lol ha ha ha ha” in response. I think there are two no-lifers who would make a perfect match.

Wishing the driver a speedy recovery.

I was on my way to pick up my kid from practice at CHS, and unfortunately he witnessed the accident. He said the little girl and puppy seemed to be ok, and someone gave the little girl an iPad to play with to distract her. He said that the fireman had to cut off the door in order to get the dad out of the car and he was unconscience and bleeding from his face and head. My boy said that there happened to be police at the school and a fire truck and all ran over immediately. He said that he overheard that the car may have “tapped” by another car and then the car fishtailed. The pictures he showed me were heartbreaking. Please keep this man and his family in your prayers. Stop the assumptions and criticism. May everyone forgive all of your sins. God bless this man.

Life is too short…

Injury free or no?

Slow down – live to give to another…

At least for one more – and one more another another day!

To follow up on the earlier comments Engine 8 was already at CHS looking for a gas order that was reported. The accident happened and they were on scene immediately. They in turn called for the trucke to respond as well with rescue equipment because they driver was trapped.

It was very scary to see the firemen pulling this guy out of the car. He was very lucky to survive this accident. I hope the kids who were attending a CHS game got a good look and remember to watch their speed and wear a seatbelt.

Sumbeach! Teen parent, texting, pet, child in car, augh!!

Witness February 16, 2013 at 12:37 AM

Rolled up on this right after it occurred . . The V vehicle was traveling in the #1 lane and skidded across the #2 up the curb and into the pole. It does look like he was tapped causing him to lose control. After we were all close enough . . didnt appear to be an odor of alcohol or texting as the cause. . . hope all recover quickly.

Hey Mimi #24 February 16, 2013 at 1:56 AM

Sumbeach???? What is that? Teen parent? (who said he was the parent?) Texting? Do you know he was texting? Unrestrained pet in vehicle, OK, I’ll give you that one. Child in car? Um, is that illegal? To have a child in the car. “augh!!” Well, no wonder you are frustrated, you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’d be frustrated too. Oh, and a witness stated that it appeared that another car may have tapped him (i.e. came too close, possibly hit or near hit) causing the car to most likely over-react, and was witnessed fishtailing before it hit the pole.

Cal February 16, 2013 at 4:56 AM

Too many of these as of late. Hope the father recovers and the little girl has him in her like for a long time.

Ryan February 16, 2013 at 9:21 AM

Some of you people are just jerks. Seriously.

Let’s all sit behind our safe little computer screens and jump to conclusions and make asinine comments about someone else’s trauma or misfortune. Lord knows it could never happen to us, since we never leave mommy’s basement anyway.

Get a life, losers.

Nrocha February 16, 2013 at 10:43 AM

I know this person who wasin the accident, he was on his way home from the dog park with his four year old daughter NOT a drunk driver!!! He does not drink or use drugs because of a brain injury he ad several years ago, shame to those of you who wished him harm he is on his death bed and his daughter will be traumatized by this horrible even for ever, yiu should not wish anyone harm or opoen your damn judegemental mouth before knowing the facts!!! This family is such a wonderful family who has gone through so much and was there for me when I lost my daughter 6yrs ago. I pray for them..

Jeff February 16, 2013 at 10:51 AM

Prayers for a speedy recovery. It sounds like this was an accident, not an issue of speeding, drinking, or texting. Let’s all pull for the father to get better quickly, and for the little girl to not be traumatized. That’s all we can do at this point, and I’m sure the family would appreciate that sentiment.

Anon February 16, 2013 at 11:10 AM

Well if he was doing anything wrong I’m sure no amount of claycord ridicule is going to make him feel worse, if he’s even conscious. Glad the kid and dog are okay. Hope he gets better.

Poor dog must have been a ping pong ball in that car. It would be interesting to find out that his injuries were caused by a flying furry meat missile.
