Dozens of Vehicles Vandalised on Bel-Air Drive in Concord

February 10, 2013 11:33 am · 48 comments

We’re getting reports that up to 25 vehicles were vandalised on Bel-Air Drive in Concord on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Most of the vandalism involved the popping of tires.

No suspects have been arrested.

If anybody saw anything suspicious on Bel-Air Drive in Concord overnight, please call the Concord Police Department.

That would suck; coming out on a frosty Sunday morning on your way to Church and find your tires shanked and your spare flattened.

The Closer February 10, 2013 at 11:50 AM

I would check into all the tire stores in the area. I would also check if they left business cards on any of the vehicles, a dead give away.

Revenge of the Galindo Creek Trash Monster?

Betty February 10, 2013 at 12:09 PM

That is so f*cked up.. I feel awful for those people. It would be next to impossible for me to get that fixed with my financial situation as of late… WTF is wrong with people??

Smokey February 10, 2013 at 12:10 PM

There are crazy people out there. They probably think they have a good reason to pop the tires. Sound like a real nut case.

sumsocool February 10, 2013 at 12:12 PM

I remember reading about the same thing last year, same area also. Probably some drunken teenagers hope they catch the little vandals.

Kalyn February 10, 2013 at 12:13 PM

I am one of the unlucky ones. Sadly, all four of my tires were punctured. What is really madding is that the same occurred about four years ago! It is really sad that individual(s) get their thrills by causing damage to others. Those responsible we’re not caught last time. Know that they will probably not be caught this time either. If they do – watch out! I am not a happy and will have a hard time being forgiving!!!

Dorothy February 10, 2013 at 12:26 PM

It’s just those kids out having good clean fun, don’t ya know?

Hasn’t happened in my area for while (knock on wood) but when it did, it cost a lot of people serious money to get things fixed again. Not just tires but broken glass too. One car (new) was jacked up, tires taken, and left sitting on the rims.

I always feel nervous when I have to leave my vehicles outside the garage for any reason.

Anon February 10, 2013 at 12:31 PM

Sucks to live in a complex that does not have enough parking for its tenants, of course these places weren’t built with each apartment having 4 – 5 vehicles.

SJ February 10, 2013 at 12:34 PM

They got two of my tires last night too! I’m off of Matheson Dr. I hope they get caught. Its a little relieving to know it was random instead of personal. Thanks for the post Claycord.

anonymous February 10, 2013 at 12:43 PM

It happened on Melody too. All 4 tires. I hope they catch the kids responsible for this.

dogs February 10, 2013 at 12:48 PM

I blame the fresh prince, dj jazzy jeff, or that carlton guy.

Steven February 10, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Most of you should have full coverage insurance well it is covered by comprehensive coverage

Kalyn February 10, 2013 at 12:59 PM

Anon, (reply #9) – I take major offense to your comment!!!

It is bad enough that I am having to deal with this, I do not need rude comments from individuals such as yourself. For your information, I live by myself and have two parking spaces. I was unfortunate in that I parked where I did as the other area was not affected.

population overload February 10, 2013 at 1:10 PM

Anon reply #9… I have to agree with you. Those places have 2-3 families living per unit. So many cars overcrowding with such little space

Connie Dobbs February 10, 2013 at 1:10 PM

I like that we’re going with the British spelling of ‘vandalized.’ Makes it seem classier.

Anon February 10, 2013 at 1:13 PM

Why dodo many posts here say kids?

It could be adults also

JRConcord February 10, 2013 at 1:16 PM

They did it so they could read about it on Nothing but some kids that are poop-headed butt-lickers 🙁

Renots February 10, 2013 at 1:18 PM

@#8..One car (new) was jacked up, tires taken, and left sitting on the rims

Highly unlikely this happened. It takes special equipment to remove the tire from the rim, and they have to be off the car first. Just saying.

@J February 10, 2013 at 1:32 PM

God works in mysterious ways.

where are the cops? February 10, 2013 at 1:36 PM

I think if the cops were out patrolling a little more instead of tucking themselves down a little dark street and watching people come and go from my street and pulling them over, they might get a better grip on these kinds of incidences. I have witnessed so much wasted time that they spend in hopes of being able to impound someones car or just harrass them by pulling them over for no reason and giving them 20 questions. Just sitting and waiting for a car to drive off my street. Go fight crime!!!!

rkt February 10, 2013 at 1:39 PM

When I lived in the Torrey Pines complex off Bel Air 2000-2005 there would be intermittent problems with tire slashings. Guess some things haven’t changed.

A real bummer to have to shell out a grand for four new tires.

Benny Zuniga February 10, 2013 at 1:40 PM

Those cowards got all 4 of my tires too.and I’m right there on the corner, perfect l.o.s on half that lot.try it again punk,.308 is what u deserve.mess with my or my neighbors property again and the only thing your gonna be pokin is a breathing tube into your chest..come see me coward 1450 right up front.get broke off!

my street too February 10, 2013 at 1:53 PM

To #22,,,,,, I have seen an unmarked cop car doing the same thing across from my street too. They sit back in the dark shadows and wait until someone drives out of my street then pull them over and start asking a bunch of questions in hopes of busting them for something stupid. They have done this to me. Sure there are what I think are a couple tweaker people that are friends with my neighbor, but they arent causing any trouble around here. Stop wasting our tax dollars while sitting around doing nothing and go patrol the streets like you are paid to do.

anonamust February 10, 2013 at 2:05 PM

@ where are the cops? The police cannot be in all places at any one time. Even if they were patrolling this spot, the vandals would just go to another area and pull their cowardly @$$ed deeds somewhere else.
Those that pull this sort of crap shows that they have a serious lack of self respect and must loathe themselves……

lola February 10, 2013 at 2:09 PM

There were also 10-15 cars on Glazier and 25 cars on Machado.

Erich February 10, 2013 at 2:11 PM

I am 95% sure, I know who has been doing this for YEARS!!!

firefighters daughter February 10, 2013 at 2:27 PM

Hmmm, wonder if was the same lovely girls/boys that egged my house and another last weekend and the weekend before and egged 50 cars on Keller. Punishment to the fullest for these low-lifes.

Renots February 10, 2013 at 2:44 PM

Wow Benny, kill over property?

where are the cops? February 10, 2013 at 2:50 PM

@anonamust…. I agree they cant be everywhere, but they have a lot better chance of being somewhere where crime is taking place if they weren’t sitting on their butts lurking in the shadows at the end of my street hoping to harrass my neighbor or his friends just because they have personal issues with him. I would understand them doing this if there were problems around here and they were doing surveillence, but there isnt. They are just being lame

Amonymous February 10, 2013 at 2:57 PM

I am damn glad the cops are lurking and stopping tweakers and their friends like a couple of previous posters. We are paying them to catch low lifes and they do it well.

? February 10, 2013 at 3:19 PM

I haven’t read the comments following this article but am wondering if this heinous act could have been committed by someone who’s employed (or needs sales) in the local tire business?

The Phantom February 10, 2013 at 3:22 PM

Which person got layed-off from a tire dealership, for not enough work? Go back to Friday. See if the workers home address is on Bel-Air Drive in Concord (20 cars), or Matheson, or Melody, or 10-15 cars on Glazier and/or 25 cars on Machado

The MASTERMIND got drunk, got funny, and over did it.

Or the perps got their cars towed and impounded by the city for being “dormant” . They are taking it out on the possible complainers.
See list of recent impounds.

The Phantom February 10, 2013 at 3:27 PM

31 where are the cops? February 10, 2013 at 2:50 PM

… but they have a lot better chance of being somewhere where crime is taking place if… they were lurking in the shadows at the end of my street.

Your innocent buddy used to live near my house until he did 18 months and moved to your street.

old concord February 10, 2013 at 3:29 PM

This is terrible to do to someone you know. This person did it to everyone known or unknown to him or her or more than 1 person that did this. As many tires as were done makes me think more than 1. Dr. Watson the games afoot.=)

The Phantom February 10, 2013 at 3:50 PM

I watch the Detective shows and learn stuff.

The number of ruined tires belies a youth prank. Too much time, energy, and focused attention. These are young adult, white, male adventures with a purpose beyond prank.

Really sorry for the personal losses of innocent neighbors.

where are the cops? February 10, 2013 at 3:58 PM

THE PHANTOM,,,, No I don’t think he lived next to you nor has he ever done 18 months in jail,,,,haha He has lived there for the last 8 years that I have been in my home and we don’t have any crime down on my street either, so you got the wrong person. Lurking in the shadows , I should have wrote, sitting around eating donuts from 7/11 while hanging out where they can’t be seen

concord99 February 10, 2013 at 4:25 PM

#28 Erich:

“I am 95% sure, I know who has been doing this for YEARS!!!”

Care to enlighten us??

Dorothy February 10, 2013 at 4:44 PM

@ #20

Yes, did happen and it was just down the street from me. Special equipement? A jack and a tire iron will do.

Dorothy February 10, 2013 at 4:47 PM

@20, By rims, I don’t mean the rims the tires are mounted on, I meant what was left after they removed the entire tire off all four whatever you want to call what is left after you take the entire tire off.

Amonymous February 10, 2013 at 5:03 PM

Att poster 31 it’s getting worse for you and your friends. CPD is rumored to have a black helicopter they are monitoring you with. Probably best if you and your buddies wrapped up in aluminum foil to defeat them.

where are the cops? February 10, 2013 at 5:36 PM

@amonymous i think you spelled your name wrong,,,haha and the black helicopter? Let them waste your tax money, they can watch me all day long in my house. And when i go to work and whenever they want to. Im not doing anything wrong. As for the lurking cop, we don’t need him around here harrassing people for stupid reasons. There never was crime around here before he started buggin us, so run along ….like i said its a personal reason why he sits and waits

Jerk February 10, 2013 at 5:38 PM

Why are you wanting a Cop on the street when this Complex has a GATED Parking garage.
WTF? I don’t think 100,000 residents in Claycord are going to support one Officer devoted to baby sitting your cars. Hire a Security guard, or here’s a thought………….PARK IN THE PARKING GARAGE

Horse'n Around February 10, 2013 at 5:51 PM

I think where are the cops are my tweeker neighbors!

@the phantom February 10, 2013 at 6:02 PM

#37 Haha white guy eh? I don’t think there are even any white people who live in that area,,,,,, There arent many white people in a lot of areas around concord anymore. Go watch the kids arriving to school at Mt. Diablo high. I was working over there and I think i saw one white kid in the whole school

Jesse Jackson February 10, 2013 at 6:25 PM

Well did any white wall tires get slashed? No? I didn’t think so!

The Phantom February 10, 2013 at 6:49 PM

“…Sure there are what I think are a couple tweaker people that are friends with my neighbor, but they arent causing any trouble around here.”

I love this place.

My neighbor would bring back tools his clients stole from me. Sometimes I was forced to refuse better tools than I had. Used to watch PHPD line everybody up on the street while the squad collected evidence. Took awhile but finally the “Mom” exhausted all her equity on bail money for her sons and everybody went away. Took a while.

Why did he return the stolen tools? He wanted me to have a set he could use when he needed some. Very funny.
