Victim Dropped off at John Muir in Concord with Gunshot Wounds

A man was shot, possibly multiple times in Concord on Wednesday night.

The victim was dropped off at John Muir in Concord by an unknown person. He is currently being transported from the Concord hospital to the trauma center at John Muir in Walnut Creek.

Police are still investigating, and have no crime scene. They believe it might have occurred in the area near Safeway on Willow Pass Road.

No more information is available at this time, and the victim’s condition is currently unknown.

Not the greatest area. I lived off of Port Chicago a little ways up from willow pass and we always had police activity because of thus

ALfalfa February 6, 2013 at 10:30 PM

Who didn’t call 911 so he cold be transported to the right place the first time?

Guess the caliber of criminals are slightly better here since they dropped of the guy at the hospital. Did they at least stop the car? Hope this gets sorted out.

That thought also ran through me. “What considerate criminals to give the victim a ride to the hospital”…… lol Whether they stopped the car to let him out is a story in itself.

On a serious note, hope this guy makes it through this and they find the creeps who did this.

Nom De….

Usually when the report reads: “The victim was dropped off at John Muir in Concord by an unknown person”..

That is ghetto talk for “Me and my homie and waz doing a drug deal and crazy dude mo fo capped him”. The “not wanting to be arrested” partner in crime is usually the “bus driver” in this case. Will be easy to find. Most of these punks sing like a canary when the doctor tells ’em the could die.

The Theorist February 7, 2013 at 1:45 AM

My hypothesis is: IT IS TIME TO MOVE outta the ghetto formerly known as Concord.

Jerk February 7, 2013 at 6:52 AM

No Talk = No Hospital Care. Better speak up if you want to live.

I think “Body Dump” number 7 is correct. It is much more likely that one of the victim’s friends (or acquaintances) dropped him off at the hospital and just didn’t want to implicate himself in whatever went down. It’s highly unlikely the criminal would drop the victim off at the hospital – unless the shooter is a friend or family member who felt remorse after injuring the victim. Either way, I think the police will get to the bottom of this. Hopefully, the victim pulls through and can help with the investigation.

I gotta say that as we know very little calling him a victim seems like a guess at this point. How do we know he didn’t fire and miss, and the other guy didn’t?

Sadly this type of activity (shootings) will spread like a cancer thru Concord unless the leaders let the police due their job. If they see suspicious activity, the police need the authority to stop and ask/see what is going on. If people see suspicous activity they need to be able to call the police, report it and expect the police to follow thru. If it offends certain groups, to bad-so sad, The public also needs to be able to call anonymously so they do not fear retaliation. Sadly in this community you have to give all of your personal info to the police while reporting. Completely ridiculous. I have never lived anywhere where a person has had to give all of their info. Of course I have never lived anywhere where the police have thier hands tied as much as they do here in Concord.

“If it offends certain groups, to bad-so sad,”

That is why it will not be done.

Remember the Officer that wrote tickets/towed cars on Monument– they tried to fire him because the ethnic group down there didn’t like it. YES–their hands are tied..we need stop & frisk..but it will never happen

Per dispatcher, when he came into Emergency he said he was ‘just walking past Safeway and heard some pop-pop-pops and then realized he had been hit’. He was shot 3-4 in the hip and thigh.

lola February 7, 2013 at 9:02 AM

The guy was shot as he was going into a house that had a large marijuana grow in the bedrooms. So much for taking the grows from outside.

Curious February 7, 2013 at 9:58 AM

Not enough police out there and to many tree huggers worried about offending different groups of mankind. They probably called 911 for police and medical but no police able to respond and the busiest fire station around was on another call. I’m just guessing but while the politicians sleep comfortably in their homes making all these cuts to public service we suffer. If you have a smart phone there is a free app for local fire and police. Listen for a day and you would be shocked how busy CPD and fire station 6 are.

Well Curious–we can’t have rude bandits can we now? It just isn’t kosher.

The Dude February 7, 2013 at 10:27 AM

I’m sure his medical treatment is going to be on the tax-payer’s dime too.

J. February 7, 2013 at 11:12 AM

From the CPD Channel-1 Scanner:

Victim was dropped off by victim’s girlfriend in victim’s girlfriend’s 2009 Acura TL

Victim’s car, according to victim, was still under the BART tracks by Safeway.

popokoog February 7, 2013 at 11:54 AM

Very suspicious. First thing you do is call medical help and police.
Gang bangers drive to hospital and make up strange stories.

Amy February 7, 2013 at 12:41 PM

Maybe,he didn’t want to pay the bill for a 10 minute ambulance ride.

Curious February 7, 2013 at 1:24 PM

Your not kidding about the ambulance cost. My friend fell off a ladder and had back pain. The ride from Concord to Kaiser WC cost him $2500. They gave him nothing but oxygen, no pain meds, no IV, no ice, just a cot with wheels and oxygen. I wish I owned AMR. It was approx 8 miles to Kaiser and that averages $312.50 per mile.

@Curious February 7, 2013 at 7:08 PM

With gas prices what they are today who could afford to charge less than $312.50 per mile?

Atticus Thraxx February 7, 2013 at 8:07 PM

In my mind I’m starting to associate Safeway with gunshot wounds. The stores are gross, poorly run and attract some scary local denizens. And they’re the checkout clerks. S stock which closed today at 20.34 performs no better.

Richards Family February 7, 2013 at 8:18 PM

yes, with no murders last year Concord is ghetto…people are wierd…

Concernicus February 8, 2013 at 9:37 AM

@25: no, theyre just ignorant. its like when people in the warm parts of california whine about enduring “super extra crazy-cold” winters.
the ones who call concord a ghetto clearly havent been to a real ghetto. probably just panicky, awkward, well-off white folks.

J. February 8, 2013 at 10:26 AM

Downtown Concord and downtown Pleasant Hill used to have little mini Ghettos.
